Im surprised most of the swsh alts arent more expensive, they are deathly hard to pull. As someone who opened at least 300 packs of all the sets with alt arts, and over 600 of evo skies brill stars and lost origin, alts are TOUGH to pull man

I can't believe the skyrocketing prices! Battle styles you can still get a booster box for around $100-120 and there are great alt Arts in that set too

I think pokemon has way too much battle style and would be that in collection first
your not the only one who likes base umbreon artwork more. the reason the umbreon vmax is so expensive is a combination of the good artwork, the popularity of the mon, and the rarity of alt art vmaxes. alt art vmaxes are more than 3x harder to pull than alt art vs in evo skies meaning even if the base umbreon artwork is better its not going to be more valuable than the umbreon vmax due to the difference in rarity. personally i like the rayquaza vmax artwork more and rayquaza more as a mon, yet the ray ray vmax is half the price of the umbreon despite being a similarly popular pokemon and being just as hard to pull. this is the thing that makes no sense to me. the only reason i can think of for this price disparity is that in order to get all the evolution alt arts as a set you need the moonbreon which means people are going to be willing to pay more for it in order to compete the set. ive always said the only thing worse for a collector than needing a ton of cards to complete a set is needing just 1 card to complete a set. when your 99 percent complete with a set your willing to spend absolutely insane amounts of money to finish it lol.

Just saw a ton of pokeball tins in my local Aldis with evolving skies inside (A22), so you're right about how you can still find them around. Only recently got into collecting again so I missed when evolving skies was actually affordable everywhere, so it was cool to see they still occasionally get stocked for msrp every now and then.
17:05 it’s funny because I had the same craving of opening some evolving skies and I found 2 packs out of my sealed products I opened and pulled that alt V Umbreon. I literally had no idea that it cost that much

The eeveelutions are just so popular and you throw in rayqayza and dragonite you make a set that is a no brainer for collectors, no other set hits so many peoples favorites.

Since the box is worth more than the moonbreon at this point, it would be better to just get the moonbreon and have about 200 buck left for other Pokemon products if the budget is 700 😊

In Australia this booster box is going for over $1500 Australian dollars, the singles are just as expensive for the top cards. At this rate I’ll never have evo sky’s master set.

Idk, I've been a fan of the last 3 gens and they all have awesome cards and sets. But S&V have incredible sets with all the art rares. Being less expensive doesn't make it worse

At this point all the main Evolving Skies sets are so expensive (sealed) that it's better to go on this thrilling treasure hunt just to find loose packs in mixed tins from on/after the release time period.
That beginning part where prices are affected by lower prices is the same thing with price charting… sometimes you’ll have super expensive cards sold super cheap due to the condition. That being said that’s why you get the price of what you’re selling by adding the ungraded price + approximate grade in PSA or BGS divided by 2 to get your price worth of your card.

When you look through the card set of evolving skies and compare it to other sets from vivid voltage to now, I can see why evolving skies is so desired and admired.

Regardless of no pulls, the attitude during the recordings is what made me get back with the TCG
Pulled my first EVO Skies Alt in December 2022. After that tried to pull all the Alts and got 10 and bought the remaining 7 and wrapped up with the set early this year. So relieved to be done with it!

On TCGPLAYER items sold with pictures don’t affect the market value - so the $100 Korean boxes don’t change anything
The only reason I'd open an Evolving Skies booster box now is that one of the boxes I have got a bit crushed in transit when I bought it a few years ago. Essentially got it for free though because they gave me a refund and let me keep the box. I think the packs inside are mostly okay.
I like how the Moonbreon is the most expensive umbreon card rn; overtaking the "original" moonbreon holo rare from neo discovery. Even a 1st edition isnt too bad.
DUDUE WITH YOUR BACKBOARD PUT VELCRO ON THE BOTTOM AND ON THE TABLE AND IT WILL NEVER FALL AGAIN THEY MAKE VELCRO (HOOK AND LOOP) WITH ADHESIVE ON THE BOTTOM... The over exposure can be fixed by lowering your ISO you can probably get away with an iso of like 600-800 depending on your lights and generally you wanna go with the lowest ISO you can get away with. The higher the ISO the more likely you are to get over exposure you can also change the aperture a little but probably not enough if you wanna keep the blurred effect behind you. But if you don't mind having a deeper depth of field then you could maybe close the aperture a bit that would let less light in which would help the over exposure a bit.
This is why I watch people open up Pokémon cards instead of opening them up myself, $700 box is crazy

I opened 20 booster boxes of this when it released, wasn’t able to pull neither umbreon or Rayquaza VMax alts :/
I actually have the moonbreon but the crazy part is that I got it from the first pack I ever opened from evolving skies
It's a hype issue, that unfortunately I think will last. My guess would be that it will drop down to 600 or so and then continue upward because there's so many amazing rares. However, it'll always be drastically cheaper to buy singles.
I mean Moonbreon became the card of the set and was so hyped up by everyone it's why the price is so high. Unless there is a Zard or Umbreon in the set it has no love atall.

You aren’t the only one. I’ve said that as well that I think the Umbreon V alt is better than the Vmax. I like how Umbreon is at the top of the stairs and all the other pokemon are looking up to him. It’s really cool artwork!
There’s an Aldi’s I went to yesterday. They have like 40 pokeball tins with evolving skies, chilling reign, and fusion strike for $12 . Going back in the morning to get a bunch of them.
I am once again amazed at how these prices are developing, it's pure madness. But ask me. Lucky for those who have secured a display in time.

Preach video for me. The booster box price is purely speculative, and kudos to those who jumped in at, say, $400, and are off-loading for $700. But that seems to be the only point of the set (to me), in terms of booster boxes, because who on earth is going to open them?
It’s wild that it’s going for that much. Packs themselves haven’t gone up that much, but the booster boxes just keep going crazy.

The Hisuian Decidueye Divergent Powers Tin DOES have TWO packs of Evolving Skies in it. Two packs of Astral Radiance, two packs of Evolving Skies, and one pack of Brilliant Stars, I think..
I remember buying my first booster box of evolving skies it was actually my first booster box ever it was 150 when I got it. It just baffles me to see how much they have gone up.

The only card I need out of EVO are the $80 to $240 cards. Alt arts of Reyquaza, Sylveon, Glaceon etc. I did pull the moon kitty and I about had a heart attack
all i can say is, that a box in Denmark goes for around 7000 DKK and that is around 1k USD.
Agree about the tough nature of pulls for Evolving Skies. Have my own theories on why that is.
