Applause for the California School for the Deaf Riverside football Championship!

Friday night lights story, y’all! Last Friday on November 18, 2022 - California School for the Deaf Riverside won the southern section state title for division 1, 8-man football. Honestly I’m so so proud of them and they deserve a worthy recognition. Last year they went undefeated but lost in the championship game. This year, they lost some seniors from last year and a few players due to injury, BUT- they still rose to the top. UNDEFEATED. And- they WON. I hope this story inspires other Deaf schools. It’s not often this happens and this one is for the Deaf history books for sure!! They deserve to be on ABC News Los Angeles Times ESPN Kelly Clarkson, Good Morning America, NBC and more! This is a story of REDEMPTION!! Congrats to the CSDR high school football team- proud of y’all!

Renca is sitting in a car and she is wearing a grey shirt that says “FAMILY” and it has logos of 8 different Deaf schools on it. The shirt is from Great Plains School for the Deaf tournament. She begins to sign “Wow, just wow. I have to take this opportunity to applaud California School for the Deaf Riverside football team. (icon of Cubs come on screen). I am so proud of them. I am still reeling…did this really happen? Like..for real? This really happened? This is like a movie. You watch some inspirational football movie based on a true story. THIS IS IT! (text come on screen: FACING THE GIANTS, SAFETY, REMEMBER THE TITANS, INVINCIBLE). I remember last year CSDR had an UNDEFEATED season. They advanced into the Southern Section championship gam. It was a NATIONWIDE news. So many news reports on this evene my local news talked about them. (Screenshots of several news articles). Championship (2021) game against Faith Baptist School- CSDR lost badly to them. It was sad. Everyone was sad. Of course, all the excitement then you lose at the end..I was very sad. It was really a good journey for them. But waiiiittt…hellloooo again….(gif of shocked hamster) You know like a Marvel movie with a superhero that died..everyone thinks “oh that’s it..” but nope.. they RISE! (Scene from Avengers movie comes on) Thor is electrifying a “coffin” where Vision is lying inside. Thor is “CSDR”, Vision is “CSDR Football Team”- the others that watch in awe is “Faith Baptist School,” Thor(CSDR) brings some energy back in the coffin. Vision (CSDR football) is now coming back to life and breaks out of the “coffin.”
The others such as Ironman, Hulk, etc. watch in awe (faith Baptist school). Vision (CSDR) rises up slowly. Scene goes back to Renca. She is in the car and signing “Again, this year, CSDR was undefeated. CSDR entered the Southern Section Championship game AGAIN. They played against…a different team? NOOOO. They played against THE SAME TEAM as last year. Faith Baptist School. Best part? CSDR WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP. (Emphasis) CHAMPIONSHIP. PERIOD. A Deaf school earning that championship title? I applaud them. Just wow. What a journey for them. From last tear to this year, what they went through, it is clear that it is a TEAM EFFORT. It was not all about “me-me-me” but the whole team TOGETHER. My favorite one is when the head coach said: “Unfinished business is now FINISHED.” (whoo-hoo-hoo). That line feels like it is a “Godfather” movie moment. I am proud of you all. Congratulations to the CSDR football team. Truly..congratulations.
