  • With only 100 procured, I suspect that it is a Technology Demonstrator for Proof Of Principle testing. If they choose to field the system in greater volume, design refinements may be put in place to support maintenance and mission requirements. If this is a special procurement for a specific unit, the volume of systems could remain nominal and in that case, the uppers may be considered "disposable". Performance is chained to maintenance which has to be tracked to ensure mission readiness.

  • Yeah, I'd like to add that to my collection! The suppressor and those guns. I'm curious, with present technology, why they didn't try to squeeze a little more speed out of this piece. At 0 degrees F the speed of sound is 1050 f/s (and increases with temp), so 150+ f/s is a pretty safe spread, and I don't think there is that much variation in rounds, especially the mini-mag. I realize it would limit the use of ammo, though the mini-mag is a pretty popular round. I would really like to see a head to head comparison of this SRT and the Dead Air Mask 22 suppressor. They both sound phenomenal. Here is the link to the vid if you're curious what I'm talking about ( and NO, I have no skin in the game; just an enthusiast looking for the best, like you). He uses a Ruger 22/45, and at Time 7:00 he uses it on a Savage bolt action rifle; very impressive. kzhead.info/sun/otCgf86tqnSNmJE/bejne.html

  • You need to re-think the purpose of a Spec Ops unit then. They currently and have for MANY years, fielded suppressed .22lr hand guns for the absolute best suppression in CQB missions. We're not talking about clearing rooms by putting two in the chest. We're talking about slipping one into the head, when a knife isn't an option. Make no mistake...the suppressed .22lr is not a toy and it has it's place in the elite units of our military. We're elated that SRT scored this contract.

  • A few technical questions. Is the entire barrel rifled? If so, I assume the porting is arranged as not to interfere with the rifling. How far from the chamber does the porting start? Can the exterior of the barrel be removed for cleaning like the old High Standard HDMs?

  • since I'm not SF, and I put more rounds down with my 338NM and 9mm's than I ever will with this platform, I would suggest you get into contact with the unit's who purchased this... obviously they don't plan on running the same amount of 22 rounds that you do, otherwise the requirements would have varied.

  • I watched a few of your videos but videos. Well made and informative unfortunately I first gen Mark II . And they outshoot every new Ruger buckmark and every other 22 I've tried out even the vocal lessons. I did do a v and upgrade on it and 1987. And shot competition with it for a number of years it also has mallette sites on it from Huntington Beach back in the 80s. By far the best metal sights I've ever used. friend of was all happy about his Mark IV take easy assembly. But very disappointed he still cannot shoot it as well as my 1987 Mark 2.

  • Who would have thought that a pistol designed from a hand crank drill would evolve into the world's best suppressed 22 hand gun. When I read the history of the MKl and MKll and it showed a photo of an early Ruger hand crank drill that the body/receiver was designed exactly like a modern Ruger MKl and later model pistols I was amazed. Ruger built tools before they built weapons/guns. Oh and you cannot forget Sturm he was there to if I remember correctly. Dollar for dollar the Ruger line of guns are the best on the market. When the company started a process called investment casting it took Ruger to another level of manufacturing cost and manufacturing accuracy and quality of their products is up there with other firearms that sell for a whole lot more. I absolutely love Ruger firearms.

  • Cool weapon but how is a 5000 round suppressor life before having to break it down for cleaning practical for any SF unit? Those guys shoot their guns. I understand this serves a very specialized application with limited use, but 5000 rounds really is not that much. I would have to send it in annually for my personal use. Do they have to send the upper back to the manufacturer or is the armorer equipped to remove the lead fouling? Aside, a very clean, compact system with great suppression.

  • "IF" they wished for it, they would get it... a 5.7 would completely defeat the purpose of what this platform was designed to do... SRT took a 40gr projo going 1250fps and dropped it to a consistent 900fps so the round no longer makes the "sonic" crack... this is what was asked for, and this is exactly what they dished out...

  • When I saw that man with gleaming oiled up biceps and ultra tactical patch hat I knew this was going to be a solid vid. Only then did I realize that he also chose to wear an ultra skin tight light tan shirt that I'm sure provided increased mobility as well as breathability in intense combat situations; when paired with those ultra modern futuristic bottoms he is then transformed into the ideal operator. This was further reinforced around the 7:69 mark when he declared "going hot" I not only realized that this man must slay bodies but also slays snatch. Thank you sir for your fine contribution to the firearms, military, law enforcement, and air soft communities. I can only hope that my children's children inherit half of the testosterone that you've impregnated me with in your video. Stay douchey (might of misspelled juicy there) my friend.

  • hmmmm ... seems to have some significant drawbacks for the typical civilian owner/shooter. "The Mk3, Mod. 0 Integral ruger MkIII, was designed for the US military specifically for use with 40 gr CCI MiniMags, and extends beyond the grip frame only 6.8", has an SPL of 114 db with CCI #0030 40 Gr MiniMag ammo, and is Cerakoted in a Desert Tan finish. It will NOT cycle subsonics. We will only build this on a stainless 5.5" bull barrel Ruger MkIII, Ruger model #10103, we will not do this conversion on any MkII, or other Ruger MkIII. Both model guns are designed for the serious shooter, who is concerned about accuracy, reliability and bullet velocity. This gun, like all of our .22 pistols, allows the suppressor tube to be removed from the gun to let you clean the expansion chamber surrounding the barrel. A .22 is dirty, and after a few thousand rounds, if you can't scrape the crud out the expansion chamber, it will clog, and the gun starts getting loud. Baffles are fixed, and not removable by the user due to their complexity. We can service the suppressor if it becomes necessary. " So it's not entirely user serviceable, the owner can only clean the expansion chamber. It can only be built on a single specific model of MKIII, and is only intended for a single specific type of ammo. (Of course, none of that is a problem if you're a government operative that only uses the pistol for occasional super-secret black ops). It sounds like the typical civilian would be better off with the SRT 'Professional' model, or even an integral suppressor from another company.
