  • Something people are missing is that the Bene Gesserit training that both Jessica and Paul have undergone grants them, at its highest level, control of their bodies on the cellular -- and therefore indirectly the molecular -- level. That's how they neutralize the poisons. But that is *also* what grants them the memories of the past -- by accessing that level of minuteness and complexity, they're also granted access to DNA (mitochondrial also), RNA, etc. And the idea is that their is a shared pool of memory stored up in the gene pool, so to speak. This also answers how Jessica and Alia communicate: they are already attached via the placenta, and communicate *chemically*.

So big swings with a sword would bounce off and be awkward to control. Where a knife lets you get in close and apply the correct pressure to get through the shield.

Great engineering is not when you have nothing left to add but when you have nothing left to take away. If something in dialogue can be said instead by visuals, music, cinematography etc. Then say it using those instead. Your movie is great not when you've added everything they can possibly say in dialogue but when there's nothing you can cut from the dialogue.

  • this was my first time listening to this podcast, and i must say i am really happy to have found such a likeable bunch with a great variety of views and taste. it's exciting to have whole library to go back and listen to. but also sad that it was cancelled (mostly). i understand time and cost. it's just a big shame.
