@@nikgr4749 Coach Sebes did not treat all players equally. There was tension and resentment in the team. The last minute decision to let Toth play in the final (instead of Budai who harmonized well with his friend Kocsis) turned out to be wrong. The Hungarians were poorly informed about the German team, but they weren't too worried about it... The alleged doping of the Germans is a rumor. According to the German assistant coach, it was liquid vitamins. However, the syringes were not clean, which is why individual players fell ill after the final. This is how the rumor began. And there is a preliminary to Puskas’ injury: he verbally insulted German defender Liebrich before the unfortunate clash.

And those who defend the Germans must reconcile their contradictions: For example, what was exactly the stuff that the players were injected? "Vitamin C"? (Dr Franz Loogen). "Glucose" ? (Horst Eckel). "Liquid vitamins"? (staehlpe). 😄,. Puskas was a first class person, and a man with a big heart. He would not "verbally insult" anyone unless direclty provoked. Look, I understand this "Helden von Bern " stuff is a very nice German national myth, but virtually everybody outside Germany knows the Germans won dishonestly, and doping was only one of the many dishonest ploys they employed. That said, it is true that coach Sebes should have done his homework better. He should have known about Fritz Walter and H. Rahn, and should have taken the appropriate defensive measures. Yes, 2nd German goal was 100 % illegal, (Schafer commits foul on Grosics during the corner kick), but I do not see any Hungarian defender near Rahn.........

@@nikgr4749 First: I am not German. Second: by “liquid vitamins” I mean vitamin C, which can be given in liquid form. Third: Puskas was an excellent footballer, but (according to David Bailey) also a loudmouth and not particularly popular with some of his team-mates. Some would have apparently preferred to play the final without the ailing Puskas. Hungary had won the quarter-finals and semi-finals without him. Fourth: your last sentence is your subjective opinion. I do not share it.

@@staehlpe Vitamin C is not injected. It is easily absorbed through the digestive tract. You can get plenty of it by drinking an orange juice, or by pills, in case of serious deficiency. Schafer himself nearly admitted fouling Grosics in two seperate interviews in German newspapers. He also admitted it privately to Gyula Grosics. And anybody can see it clearly on the video, the cameras have recorded it from many different angles. Puskas was a man of impeccable character. This had been stated in the strongest terms by his team mates at Real Madrid, and by his players at Panathinaikos, the Greek team which he led as a Coach to the European Cup Final in 1971.

(Ausgleich kurz vor Schluss war nicht Abseits etc.) Shit happens und manchmal gewinnt halt die schlechtere Mannschaft. Von Betrug kann man da nicht sprechen. Ungarn hätte 100 Mal gegen Deutschland spielen können und 99 Mal gewonnen. Nur halt das eine Mal nicht. Pech.
