The problem with stealth tanks is that unlike planes and boats, tanks fight at relatively short range where you dont need a radar to spot them.
even then the U.S. navy has abandoned the idea of a stealth ship as it's proven to be move of a hassle then anything else and given how much money and work goes in to maintaining a stealth aircraft i can see a reduction in that role as well
this applies when you facing other tanks and infantry but as the video explains the threat from the air is substantial and that would be through instruments not mark 1 eye ball.
Also unlike the open waters or open sky, radar isn't isn't that useful track targets on land to begin with.

I think the cv90 120T with stealth panels is the true stealth tank.
@@BS-vm5bt 100% agree, at least much more feasible than the PL01c
@@BS-vm5bt those panels only do so much vs radar etc. the first real "stealth" tank was the Leopard 1 Versuchsträger Gesamtschutz (experimental vehicle full protection).
All this stealth doesn't matter if you can hear this tank coming from a mile
That’s why the USA is working on hybrid tanks
It does though, realistically you would never hear it unless you are on foot hiding in a ditch or a building. And the radar absorbent coating and those dynamic thermal tiles helps hide the tank from the air to ground radar and thermal targeting pods you find basically all modern multirole fighter jets which makes much harder for your enemy to find and blow you up which is really important, just look at how drones are being used in the Ukrainian invasion
@@iwyrilja Tracks are loud, especially on hard surfaces. The engine is also a major source of noise even when idling. If it was parked and operating on battery/APU it maybe much harder to find and good for defensive positions and ambushes.

6:05 It could double as a protective shield, though I'm sure the covering is more of a heat shield because tank guns heat up fast from firing and would show up easy in thermal.
I thought this would be about the Swedish CV90 "Ghost". It has thermal plates that can change temperature and sensors to capture the surrounding temperature and blend in like a thermal chameleon
if i rembere this polish tank was built on a swedish cv 90 but yeah hope to see someting about the Swedish CV90 120 T Ghost
For a short time. Then it has to dump the heat
It was a CV90120-T covered with plywood and cardboard... Nothing more, nothing less. The idea behind it was to present it to Polish officials so they would agree on obtaining the CV90 production licence
7:40 slight correction: All modern tanks have extra ammo storage in the hull. The Merkava, for example (as you talked about that before, so must have done some research into) only stores 10 rounds in the turret bustle; the other 36 rounds are stored in the hull. The reason Soviet-style T-Series tanks explode and launch their turrets so high is because they store their ammo in a ring around the crewed turret, so if anywhere below the turret gets hit it will explode. Other tanks, such as the Merkava store their ammo in a few small areas, with up-armoured boxes around them. Also, other tanks use wet stowage, where if the walls of the storage bins get breeched liquid flows in rapidly to quench any fires or detonation before they can begin.
Leopard 2 and Challenger 2 have unsafe ammo storage too.
Its not the carousel autoloader that usually causes a catastrophic explosion when the tanks are penetrated. Usually they are fine unless it is directly hit. Its that t-series tanks store the other half of their ammunition in random spots wherever the designers could fit it all over the interior of the fighting compartment which gives a super high chance of hitting at least 1 round, which then sets off all others. This is why crews in the Russia-Ukrainian war now generally remove all ammunition except for what's in the autoloader and since then have suffered far fewer catastrophic explosions
Actual capabilities aside I really, really like the aesthetics of the thing, it looks mean. A lot can be said for the psychological advantage too, being hunted by something that looks so advanced would definitely freak some out.
Yeah I'm waiting for someone to bring out an AT-ST " chicken walker" onto the battle field.
@@keithhawkins7907 You'd really cluck someone up with one of those.
It's ugly in my opinion, though I might be biased as I dislike this whole "project" a lot. But in general, I don't like such aesthetic on military vehicles. A concept mock-up presented on a military fair might look like that, sure, but a real vehicle should look more "rugged". The comparison I like here is the RMMV trucks - the HX3 series trucks look like vehicles from a sci-fi movie, but the HX2 series looks the way military trucks should look like - rugged and boxy, though still good. Though to be fair, the PL-01 was never meant yo be a real vehicle, so I guess it makes sense that it looks like that.
No active protection = destruction by 400$ drone....
you sure?
@namrehtv2746 100% because all tanks upper top is at least 20-50-70mm in thickness, so anything can destroy it from the top
@@namrehtv2746 Yes, APS is basically mandatory these days if one values survivability. Roof armor of current-generation tanks is not up to the job to stop shaped charges of any notable size.

In the cutscene Bogdan calls it a stealth tank, "hide in stealth tank when the bombs drop"😂
A stealth tank doesn't seem like a good idea. Keeping the RAM paint clean and undamaged would be a huge struggle when driving around a battlefield, better to focus just on the geometry. Tanks have hot engines that are hard to hide. Tanks are also much more restricted in where they can go than aircraft which means the enemy can better focus resources to find them.
How is 120 millimetter huge ? The 140 they fitted on the "Terminateur" Leclerc test bed was big at least...

pls gaijin add these on warthunder, i wanna see 11.7 light tanks that would dumpster those OP BMPs and swedish CVs
Stealth tank, only appears in military exhibition
They've made thousands of them bro you just can't see them.
God, that piece of crap again... I was about to comment on how this abomination of an AFV was just an empty CV90 hull (all internal equipment besides the engine, transmission and driver's seat was removed) with a turret mock-up and some body panels to make it look futuristic, but it's explained pretty well in the video what the PL-01 was physically as a vehicle, so the only thing left is to explain what the PL-01 was as a "project" and more importantly, what it was never meant to be. So, the PL-01 was never meant to become a real, production vehicle, the end goal was never the adoption of this "tank" into service. The sole purpose of this project was to secure a research grant from the National Center of Research and Development (NCBR, Narodowe Centrum Badań i Rozwoju), to the point that the "design" of the vehicle was outsourced to an industrial design studio so that it looks like a spaceship and thus attracts attention. This is also why this project is disliked by anyone who knows anything about the military equipment in Poland - because while it did what it was designed to do, secure funding for the OBRUM company, it caused a lot of harm as well as people seriosly believed that "we will be 3D printing stealth tanks in 3 years".
I don’t like the idea of “Stealth Tanks or Stealth vehicles” in general because it is pointless. Enemies will manage to find you at some point and it’s expensive to produce. Tanks are not designed to be hidden much. It is more on infantry support vehicle that also design to take out enemy tanks. More like a big mother nursing the Infantry. Plus, Tanks rely on Infantry protection while infantry relies tanks to be their cover. Which is drops the idea of “Stealth Tanks” because it’s pointless. Moving Tanks and Infantry will not going to be a stealth thing.
Stealth vehicles (not tanks) do have a very good reason to exist, though. While, yes, they aren’t invisible - they aren’t supposed to be (yet) and are designed for BVR engagements where the first shot is the most important.
Wonder weapons are bad for winning wars... that's already a well proven lesson 🙂

Yes, they are real, and on paper, they are awesome, but reality they are terrible, i can explain it if u like but i also wrote a comment in the video if u want to read it too
pretty sure stealth tanks will be not good
It's all very experimental for a reason, imagine having to procure and maintain a fighting force of hundreds of them. It'd cost a dang fortune.
Because they aren't...
Yeah honestly, stealth tanks don't really seem like the best idea.
Tanks, unlike aircraft, usually fight within visual range, so stealth technology won't do much good. It won't stop your tank from being a big, obvious gray brick. Tanks still use thermal imaging, though, so regulating vehicle part temperatures could give you an advantage at night.
This tank screams "Maintenance? Never heard of 'er!"
It look like a tank that would be in battlefield 2042
imagine getting a he shell on that smooth armor
Fr imagine a SHE shell 😶😶
I think you've got this wrong. Is not the shape of the gun barrel designed to deflect radar waves as per the F-117 you mentioned? Also, it can act as a thermal sleeve against IR detection. Thanks!
7:02 He says "arnament" again. Armament. You can do it.
Weapondry
I knew from the moment it was first revealed that it was nothing more than a cool gimmick. It never meant to be produced
God dam the GTA rail gun tank is real😂
Minus the railgun
DID he say the german BARACUDA CAMMOFLAGE ? Barracudda is made by SAAB swedish company and rn is used in Ukraine on Swedish tanks and IFVs maybe gerrmany is one of the customers ?
What's the point in making a vehicle invisible to radar that is usually targeted by human eyes? That's the natural reaction when one first hears the term stealth tank, right?
Good luck finding it in the dark Polish forest from 2km away without radar and thermals.
Could you imagine if Cena piloted these things?
always loved this tank this is built on a cv 90 i heard its cool but you shuld check out the Swedish CV90 "Ghost". also its stealth tank diffrent!
Stealth tanks are lighter, meaning less armor so alot of the engine compartment and other things are going to make up for the less armor in the front to provide somewhat protection to the crew but once the engine or the toothed wheel gets destroyed the tank and because the turret will be less armored the the turret will be the first to get destroyed in a modern war, meaning the tank will be unusable. Just know most of the armor will be on the sides
Looks Like the railgun Tank Out of GTA
Yep
Cuz it is 😂
I love that it has smoke grenades and supposedly would have had a low thermal signature mode. Those are stealthy, I can actually see those being useful for certain situations. The problem is having a few expensive tanks just for certain situations isn't affordable or worth it most of the time.
Many "Stealth" parts have been implemented in tank designs, esp. thermal camoflage.
probably makes a cool Transformers robot in the live-action movies.
Tanks need big engines to move around at any reasonable speed. Engines are loud. Although having a radar resistant tank would be great at deflecting targeting devices on missiles and whatnot. I doubt, unless there is some sort of tech that i dont know about, that stealth plating is as strong as armor.
Infrared: 🗿
tank is invisible but doesn't make crew invisible so you just have floating tankers lmao
You mean battle tank is not derived from a tank destroyer or light tank. It is derived from medium tanks with the main armament of heavy tanks. This Polish tank is a light tank. Interesting idea but as you noted not practical. Frankly, a true tank destroyer would have this chassis and fire Spike long-range anti-tank missiles. You don't want to get in range of Russian tanks with this thing.
The stealth idea might be interesting but when your military doesn’t care because by the time they come in they’re unmatchable and don’t care if the enemy sees them coming. Also Tough to run a shock and awe campaign with an invisible force
Ah yes, the invisible CV-90 covered with plywood...
Where is it's railgun modifications 😂
What if you took all or some of those features to make a stealthy wheeled AFV (I assume those don't run into trees n stuff as often as tanks would)? Does such a vehicle already exist?
12:06 ok for one the thing is light tanks aren't fully dead the U.S. army is adopting the new ones the brooker by general dynamics and the fact is stealth tanks don't make it invisible it just makes it harder for enemies reaction times or to find them not somehow invisible which is a big misconception today in stealth
The concept of a stealth tank is counterintuitive. Radar invisibility means little to none for tanks since it is easily spotted by aircraft, drones, or satellites from skies anyway.
THE PLO1 reminds me of that one tank from StarCitizen
Yep gotta avoid those "shrapnels" !
You know you can simply train troops hit n run tactics and give em some ATGMs?

Let me introduce to you, the CV90120tGhost, or a cooler pl01, built on the same tank but with even better stealth capabilities
The active thermal camouflage is a useless gimmick. If the vehicles gets covered in mud or dust, you can see it, the same if just one of the peltier plates gets damaged. Not to mention that there is no way to dissipate the heat generated by such a system - the way peltier plates work is it that the colder they get on the one side, the hotter they get on the other one, so the vehicle-facing side of the camouflage system would get incredibly hot very quickly.
Stealth suddently disapearing when tank fire, and tanks are usualy detected by optics or thermal, nor radar
0:17 had the chance to say "that took the famous night hawk OFF the map"
the f117 nighthawk was designated a fighter due to security/secrecy reasons. its a ground attack aircraft by nature :)

Consistently good graphics on this channel - sometimes difficult to distinguish from the real footage.
The T 14 didn't downsize its crew. The T 72, 80, and 90 all have three crew members, Driver, gunner, and commander. They all use auto loaders. If you were trying to say downsizing from NATO tanks which use four that needs to be communicated better.
whatever happened to stealth tanks- The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation
If they pull out the mk2 suppressor we are all screwed

I remember this tanks from an rts game that came out a few years before Covid called ‘act of aggression’ that had these things, they weren’t really that great

Not exactly. Medium tanks had a very precise purpose, while MBTs are more able to do everything (scout like light tanks, attack like mediums, brawl like heavies, defend like TDs, etc...).
