More of these tutorial type of videos would be amazing, I have been very hesitant to customise figures but your work has definitely inspired me to give it a go, keep it up man
Have you tried it out yet? 😮
@@LandspeederLuke I have indeed and I must say it turned out pretty good
I really appreciate your dry brush explanation. It’s the best explanation I have seen so far. Great results!
I love these kinds of videos because it shows how realistic and detailed these figures can become.
More tutorial videos like this please! I have just recently ventured into the world of figure customizing and not knowing where to start sometimes along with the added pressure of possibly ruining a figure can be a little overwhelming. But you made this so easy to understand. I can’t wait to try this out on some of my own figures now. Thank you!
Have you tried it yet?
@@LandspeederLuke Unfortunately not. We’re currently in the process of buying a new home, so all my figures are packed up at the moment. I’m hoping for an opportunity to try it out real soon though!
I really appreciate videos like this. It can be hard to know how to start customizing figures. This process seems pretty easy but it makes a huge difference.
I started by just doing the dark washes.these alone make a world of difference as it brings out all the detail in the sculpt.then i tried dry brushing with silver for that metallic look (this is the real challenge as its so easy to overdo it) acrylic paint is easy enough to wash off with warm water so you can easily star again and just through a bit of trial and error you will eventually see great results.
New to your channel but not your Instagram account. This is wonderful! Thank you!!!👍🏻
Welcome!
Wow... Pretty amazing for something so simple and inexpensive. NED-B literally went from being a Tonka toy to well used/weathered Star Wars droid. Love it!!! Great video, LL! 👍👍
The robot characters are always easier imo.just a dark wash makes the world of difference.
More, more, more, and even more of these types of videos please.
This was extremely helpful! I always feel anxious about ruining my figures, and you're so chill and confident that it really makes me feel confident to experiment! Keep up the great work!
Glad I could help!
Started weathering my figures with vallejo from your Saw video and it's so worth it. The difference is night and day from the plastic-y factory look.
Did this on the Modal Nodes awesome.
Love videos like this
Please can you do more videos like this ? Thanks 👍
Definitely my favorite type of content. You make customizing very approachable for beginners. Look forward to more of these in the future!
More to come!
A good video would be maybe a top 10 list of black series figures that you feel benefit yrh most with a weathering paint job
Wow.......Absolutely amazing painting you have managed to drow every little detail in this painting. Much impressive drawing.
Great tutorial thanks! 👋👋👋
im obsessed with your weathering tutorial videos. I want to see more. especially on characters like boba and clone troopers.
Absolutely stunning!! Definitely going to start trying to add these touches to my figures as well!
Awesome work Luke, you’re right too, dry brushing is such an addictive technique, love it.
Thanks for your tutorial videos! Love your channel!
Love this! Huge change!
Screw the algorithm! Keep these customizing videos coming!
Looks amazing Luke
Please more videos like this!! I'm picking up this figure just to do this!
Great work, looks really nice !!
Very informative video👍🏻
This looks great
Hi mate. Love your weathering of Ned B.
Please, more videos like this ✌
More coming very soon
Great channel Luke, really enjoying all of your videos. Started thinking about customizing my Ahsoka@@LandspeederLuke
Thank you for this!
This was very inspiring I’ve ordered the paint and spray and brushes can’t wait to begin my customizing journey tomorrow with the delta squad figures!!!!
This is such a great video. I’ve never had the courage to do any customizing but I might have to try this. Thank you!
Great job!!!
Hello Luke thanks for sharing your techniques for customization. I'm far too hesitant to ever do this myself but I do enjoy your tutorial videos. Thanks again for this informative video, love your work and effort you put into your collection. Great job, Tom
Love this tutorial! I definitely need to do this to my Ned-B at some point Also unrelated but as someone really into stats the quote "It's too random to be random" is sooo good
That looks fantastic
Thank you
Great video, thanks for the tips, exactly what I was looking for
This is a really smart and budget-friendly strategy and deserves way more popularity. Could you do a tutorial on how to weather clone/stormtrooper armor?
Fun video! Would love to see a similar one featuring your 3D printed Geonosian.
Great video, thanks! A cool video for you to do someday would be figure recipe’s for your customs. Maybe break-down one that has a couple of pieces from other figures and how you put it together etc.
This looks awesomeeee.... I hope to see more of this...... it´s inspiring... ✌✌✌
Hi mate. Two other techniques I think you should try. Use graphite to add very realistic metal effects, simply sharpen a pencil onto plate and then apply the graphite to the model using your finger. Number two. Tear off a small piece of household sponge, dab onto the silver paint or any other colur you want to use to show chipping. then dab sponge onto paper towel until you start to see the effect you're looking for then apply to the figure or part. It gives a nice random effect and is much more controlable than applying with a brush...oddly.
More like this! Could we see you do ROTJ boba?
If these ever get to be around $22-23 each I might pick one up. The current retail is insane. Might use this technique on my spare bootleg SHF K2S0.
dope video !!!
I love every video you put out, especially ones like this. You've quickly become my favorite YT channel, and I'm not just saying that. Also im saving up to buy a bunch of your hexagon BS stands. I need a ton of them, but they are rather expensive so i have to hold uo for the moment. Keep up the great content. Inlook forward to all your videos.
You need a 3D printer! It’ll be cheaper in the long run
@@LandspeederLuke Yeah, i know. Hey, just wondering if you bought the S. H. Figuarts Boba Fett and Throne. I pre-ordered from some company in Japan months ago. It finally dropped on the 21st and shipped yesterday. I cant wait to get it. Just wondering if you got one and if you're be doing a review.
It arrives today and I’ll be reviewing it asap
@@LandspeederLuke Nice!!!!
Citadel shade nuln oil works awesome as well. I may have already told you this. I cant remember.
Could you do a tutorial like this for troopers?
how important is the matte spray, I want to weather my Delta squad and I don't think they look too shiny out of the box, does spraying them afterwards help protect the weathering or is it just for the aesthetic?
Do you do the wash on clones
do you need to put clear coat on it again just before the silver drybrushing ? or can i just drybrushing immediately after the third coat of the black paint without any clear coat inbetween ?
You should try using a panel line accent color. I have brown and black and it makes such a huge difference its unreal. I highly recommend you invest in some and try it out and post a video. I got Tamiyas version. Its not expensive. Also citadel color shade nuln oil makes a difference too. Just please post more videos like this.
Do you use it as a wash?
@@LandspeederLuke yes and no
@@LandspeederLuke it works best on vehicles or figures that have a lot of lines/panels. Its like a magnet how it finds the lines and fills them in. You should definitely give it shot.
I have some but haven’t tried on a figure
Hello, do you have any other option for the Mr.super clean something cheaper ?
Hey fantastic job. A question please, why do you spray the mat some times instead of just one in the end?
I’ve found for washes on droids and such it makes the wash sit better.
💣
Cool tutorial! What about the articulations? Could Mr Super Clear be a problem? Or is it a thin layer? Thanks for the video!
No issues with articulation here. I think if you sprayed it on a figure with really delicate joints, it might lock them up just enough to bend the peg if you’re not careful.
@@LandspeederLuke nice! I'll try it tomorrow with this figure. I have a bunch that need a nice weathering. Thanks!
how do you seal the paint so it doesn't scratch off?
Did you use a clear matte?
Can it be gloss finish
Is it meant to feel super sticky after... I couldn't get hold of Mr clean in the UK so I used an alternative spray
No. What did you use?
is the matte spray harmful to cloth goods. I wouldn't want to ruin my clone wars Anakin or Darth Revan.
What is Mr Superclear & where do I get it?
Linked in description
What is the advantage of mr super clear over clear matte spray paint?
I found that Krylon Matte spray looks crappy after about a year
Great stuff, LSL. 🫡
