It is unfair due to link cheating with the apples which are labeled as a super smash bros item in this supposed no items match

Link can brings infinite swords and arrows, peach can use turnips and bombs, while hero can heal, and robin has multiple books, plus Mario's cape and fluid, not to mention pokemon trainers pokemon, and the swords everyone has a sword so why are apples considered contraband as items?
@PbnjGuy I single out apples because they're clearly classified as one of the food items in the smash bros games since melee. Items that aren't in super smash bros games in my interpretation can't be categorized as an item according to smash bros and characters like mr game and watch who can spawn an item with an existing smash bros moveset is allowed too.
@@PbnjGuy There's a difference between inventory equipment that fighters come with and ITEMS, that appear on stage as drops. The latter is contraband. Link isn't exactly supposed to have access to all of his menu abilities as a Smash fighter. then again this isn't Smash Ultimate Link, this is Breath of the Wild any% Speedrun Link.

And Statis is another thing. in Link's speedrun, he doesn't go to Hateno and upgrade Statis, but here we are, seeing Statis+ in action. Really, the whole fight is extremely unfair, with the LITERAL 88 apples he had. And I'm not joking about the magical axe. Edit: He. Has. Majoras. Mask. Why?

I like that getting smacked into the floor makes Link lose a full heart, but it takes, like, over a hundred sword slashes to do half a heart of damage.
I feel like it's a testament to just how weak Metaknight's sword slashes are. Like, yeah, he's S tier cause of how fast and maneuverable he is, but he barely has any high damage attacks. And Link dodged all of them lol

Keep in mind this is link with no armor, three hearts and no food buffs. It's frightening to think about how powerful link would be with fully upgraded gear and powerful weapons

I love how Meta just instantly gave up after watching Link fully heal. No swordplay can outmatch hyper healing.
He could have, in theory, repeated the fight had he not gave up. We dont really know the limits of his endurance, so I'm guessing he could have indeed just continued fighting. To Meta Knight, however, it looked as if Link just couldn't die. He didn't know he only had 11 apples left.

No boss can ever compete against heroes possessing the ability to pause all of reality to hyper-consume health restoring items. They all complain about the bosses with multiple lifebars and Latin Lyrics in their second+ phase, but never the hero who effectively has several hundred lifebars!

I like the subtle touch of Metaknight using Uairs to momentum cancel knockback and survive for longer. Though he definitely would have tripped if he tried dash-dancing like at the beginning.
I love how Speedrunner Link intentionally isn't geared up. Has basic weapons, if a good stockpile of them, and only three hearts. He's constantly on the defense for the whole battle, until he can get a nasty trick like his stasis in.

This fight made me notice something. Speed runners are more powerful than broken fighter characters in the TMU. First speed runner Mario beats Melee Fox. Now Speedrunner link beats Brawl Meta Knight. Now I’m wondering what happens if 2 speed runners fought

With Tears of the Kingdom out, I feel like Link might now play a pivotal role in taking down Bird Up. With the Fuse ability, Link could make an arrow or weapon capable of breaking their crystalline power source, and with their Ultrahand ability, they could help prevent the original problem of the ships breaking. Combined with their stasis powers, they could help keep Bird Up in place to prevent them from dodging like speedrunner Mario could.
Truly if link tried he'd durability swap a weapon with a fairy to essentially get invincibility like in totk speedruns

Yeah, let's be honest. BotW Link is a killing machine. The ability to slow down time when he focuses, Stasis allowing to freeze his enemies in place, can pause time and eat to recover his hearts, Link is one deadly Hylian. Even more deadly with glitches like Thunderclap Rush.

@@kaiuche8640 Metaknight wasn't as unreasonable OP as he is made out to be. The reason behind his strength is essentially the same as ICs. His risk of tripping is reduced because of how his gameplay develops. Look at the metaknight games, in brawl, and you will notice that metaknight almost only touches the ground to recover his jumps, staying in the air most of the time, reducing his chance of tripping to almost 0. ICs seldom run, and will just look for that grab after a read, taking their chance of tripping close to 0 too. If tripping wasn't a thing in Brawl, I would belive both characters would have had a lot of even matchups across the board.

Plus if I recall right he had way more air control/movement than anyone else, and his attacks came out quicker and were more combo-able than just about anyone else, so he definitely had a lot of advantages over basically anyone else. You're right though that if they removed tripping it'd probably be decently more even.

My daughters were so invested in this fight, links comeback made them cheer but during MetaKnights final smash they were so worried because they wanted link to win. Then link paused and that just made them laugh so hard. We watched this 10 more times. Thanks for the laughs Terminalmontage!
4:17 I love this detail of Link using the Lightscale Trident. It's canonically one of the most durable/unbreakable weapons in the entirety of Breath of the Wild.
4:09 has some really good detail here. Every weapon being used up and broken as it wears off, the slashes and strikes being very accurate to the chaos happening. This resonates a very satisfying feel that I think not many people can do in fast-paced animations. It's such a charm.

Given the context of how it's used vs "official" definitions, I'm pretty sure it's not short for anything. Something tells me it's just some computer slang people came up with because it sounded appropriate for what they were trying to describe and it just stuck. As far as I can tell, to proc something means to meet the requirements to trigger something. And something being procked is the act of the "something" being triggered. I can't find any words proc could be short for that actually matches these definitions, which is why I'm sure it's made up, but it's widely understood within gaming communities (RPGs especially), so no harm no foul right? 😅

What's interesting to note here is how Meta knight, while not winning the battle, did technically beat him in terms of pure fighting. Link simply was able to outlast him bc he learned how to carry things from minecraft steve
Not true actually! Link didn’t even need to heal in the end, as he just froze Metaknight and killed him regardless without taking another hit in the end. Only difference healing made is Link winning with full health or a sliver of health. Healing at the end was just showing how Metaknight never really stood a chance to begin with I think lol Plus Link had Majora’s Mask in his inventory

@@Random1567 metaknight was definitely in shock from the heal. you can see it before link freezes him because he stares in complete disbelief. remember that link used the pause menu to access his inventory. meaning from metaknights perspective, link literally went from having 0.01% health to being fully healed on the same frame he sat up. so to metaknight, that only makes link seem invincible because link seemingly appears to insta-heal once he hits peril because the concept of a pause menu inventory doesnt exist to him. if metaknight was aware of this however, he definitely wouldve kept going knowing link would eventually run out of healing items. lastly as a side note, thats the botw majoras mask, not the majoras mask version of that mask. all the botw version does is disable aggro on sight.
@@Random1567 Meta Knight only lost because he surrendered. MK himself knew that he couldn't beat someone whose champion ability is literal local time manipulation. If Link didn't pull that trick, MK would've 100% won.
I wanna give some 👏👏👏 applause to the narrator for that almost imperceptible pause between words when saying their names, and saying "Brawl" in exactly the same with both "Brawl Meta Knight" and "Brawl tier, yet the rest of the dialogue is spoken fluidly. Damn crisp annunciation on that whole deal. And yes, seeing all of Link's weapons break one by one was a *splendid* touch, as were the scratches on Meta Knight's mask. 👨🍳👌

The post credits scene, if im understanding it right, implies some interesting things about the speed demon. Both times its manifested (with Mario and with Guile) its been as the direct result of glitches, while Sonic and Speedrunner Link are free of its corruption. Perhaps the Speed Demon isn't just s manifestation of speed, but rather of GLITCHED speed; Speedrunner Marios speed comes from BLJs, which were an unintended mechanic, and Guiles from the grab glitch. Meanwhile, Sonic is just that fast, and Speedrunner Link isnt using glitches as much as he is taking advantage of his natural time manipulation powers from being a Champion, and occasionally using them in unexpected ways to gain momentum (shield bounce flight)
So that's where meta knight went after Something About Kirby's Dream Buffet.
Seeing the end sequence put into context of the last expedition following a speedrunner class character in this series, i get the feeling the galactic force is testing characters to see who's infected with another Speed Demon.
Maybe they're looking for powerful fighters to help aid them against another threat

The way you incorporated the game mechanics into Link's fighting style is without a doubt my favorite detail. His portrayal as a defensive fighter who relied on flurry rushing, but also still had the limitations of breakable weapons, a stamina meter, the inventory screen, etc. I think those details edge this fight slightly over the previous Something Versus for me, and I'm excited to see what's next.

The entire sequence from 4:09 to 4:22 was expertly done, had to rewatch it frame by frame. the detail is amazing, with link attacking/blocking in different styles depending on his weapon as each breaks from the onslaught is absolute perfection.
You can also see his facial expressions change with every weapon that breaks, show him being calm, angry, frustrated, and worried as they break one by one
And the fact that he uses a different fighting style as each weapon bites the dust.

The Something series is known for its simplistic, cartoony art style, but that should by no means be considered a limitation. Just that bit at 4:14 where link is fighting back at lightning speed, causing all of his weapons to break over time is so detailed and satisfying, and it all happens so fast that you can barely keep up!
It's not just the weapons breaking over time but look at the constant change of expression on Link's face as he's running out of weapon options as well!
As well as animating the different ways to use the weapons!!
Having a simple art style means less effort goes to animation each frame. Which means high action shots like this are more sustainable.

At 4:55, Link is shown to have an empty weapon inventory. Yet at 5:03, he suddenly has an axe. There's a bit of inconsistency, but the rest is cool.

Decided to rewatch this and I just now realized that given the timeframe between the Dream Buffet's postcredits scene, The Kirbos had to work their meal off meanwhile MK instantly metabolized on the way over to the smash stage-- It took MK LESS time, thats so funny. The attention to detail in these animations are never lost and that's what makes them some of my favorite animations on the entire site. Also, the announcers saying MK is over 50,000 but the Serving Hands still handling him by his wings like one would hold a kitten by the nape of their neck had me chuckling before the action even started, it's too good!

This is legitimately better than many anime fights. * There's a back & forth dynamic of each fighter using their own style and attempting to adjust to their enemies. * There's tension as Link has to perfectly use his champion abilities and runs out of weapons trying to stop Meta Knight while Meta Knight tries to outspeed and outmaneuver Link: both running down to an endurance match. * The actual sword-play goes hard Thanks for another great video man!

Link had one of the best bows in BOTW, being the Great Eagle Bow. He never used it once, and still won, proving how strong he is.

I love the detail of Meta Knight's 4 wings coming put fot his final smash because if I recall it was a visual glitch in Brawl or something like that but seeing it as him unleashing his full power is really cool.
I thought it was a neat addition that Metaknight gestures at Link in 1:50 to raise his weapon, which aligns with his game canon of waiting for you to pick up the sword before engaging in battle. Honorable puffball has my respect, but not Link's it seems.
Link allowed Meta Knight to prove himself before basically turning on cheats. Link's obliged to, since they're not supposed to hold back, but if he just instantly used that ability, it'd be... well, lame.

Metaknight and Link are both showing signs of being remarkably fast. Geno's trying to find someone (or maybe a group) who can either fight the Speed Demon... or he's trying to figure out who's vulnerable to SD's influence like Mario was.

I think he's more interested in Link's ability to slow, and even freeze time. If you can't go as fast as the enemy, slow them down.
I assume he, or more accurately the authority he works for, is monitoring multiple potential victims of SD to find and capture him before it is too late, hence why Link is being "monitored" while Metaknight is just returned. One could already be posessed, the other isn't.
