We asked our Mexican dads to taste and rank popular cup noodles! 🍜😁
We asked our Mexican dads to taste test and rank instant ramen from best to worst! We included all sorts of brands for them to try like Nissin Cup Noodles, Maruchan Instant Lunch, Samyang Buldak noodles, Nongshim bowl noodles, Tapatio instant noodles, Nongshim shin black! Have you tried any of these cup ramen before? Do you like to eat instant noodles? Would you try the spicy noddle challenge?

    @sgtwiggles292@sgtwiggles2926 ай бұрын
    • The noodles are always thinner in the cup because it's not actively boiling on a stove, it has to be able to absorb the hot water you put into it before the water gets cold.

    • pretty sure the issue with this is that they drained all the water out of all of those cups, and with the cup ramen the spices never have time to set right in the cups and so much flavor is lost without the broth.

      @deftwolf7372@deftwolf73726 ай бұрын
    • I agree and it's the same with the fire noodles - the cup version has like half of the spice than the packet version imo.

      @dreammmssss4511@dreammmssss45116 ай бұрын
    • For the traditional ramen packets I used to drain all the water after boiling and reserve like a tablespoon or so. Then I'd mix up the spice packet in a bowl with the reserved water and then add the noodles and mix it up. Way better this way than as a soup.

  • I think instant noodle in the package is a lot better than the cup ramens. When I cook noodles I would add eggs, Enoki mushroom, tofu, Potsticker and sometimes I add spam.

    @jennifereng7425@jennifereng74256 ай бұрын
    • Shin Black imo is the best Top ramen you can get in the US at most stores. It's obviously more expensive at like ~$2 a package but it's well worth it. If you want to dress it up, you can add exactly what you're already doing with eggs, spam, etc. Personally for me, I like adding 1 slice of bacon that I shred up into ~4-5 pieces, a few slices of onion and fry that up before adding the ramen and finally an egg that I poach. I've seen other "instant ramen" that are "healthier" or more gourmet, etc but they go up to like $5-8 a bowl and at that point it's not going to be better or cheaper than adding bacon, spam, onions, etc to a cheaper but good ramen.

I can see why it appeals more to a Mexican palette bc in addition to it being about as spicy as the average Korean ones, it's also got a bit of acidity/tartness to it. But tbh, I would not eat it bc of the texture of the noodle. It was never bouncy. It was just kind of soggy and floury from the get go. If tapatio can fix their noodles, I think it would be a lot more popular. I'll just keep adding lemon juice to the korean ones.

    • That’s not what Mexican food is about. Heat has to also provide flavor. You can’t just have the pure hotness. They’re not gonna like it if you give them that test.

  • Try this Heat up the water with some cilantro, thinly sliced red onion, a small piece of ginger, some diced garlic and one jalapeño with the end cut off. Once the water is boiling add the noodles and cook as directed. Right before it’s done cooking drop 2 eggs and cover it for about 2 min while the egg cooks like a pouch egg.
