Follow Living Zoology during their travel and work! This is the last episode of our series from Costa Rica, you will see 4 species of venomous pit vipers! We stayed on the Caribbean coast and found some snakes there, like the Eyelash pit viper (Bothriechis schlegelii), Ringed tree boa (Corallus annulatus), Cope's vine snake (Oxybelis brevirostris) or the Black mussurana (Clelia clelia). But the highlight was the finding of another Central American bushmaster (Lachesis stenophrys)! The bushmaster which had transmitter implanted in the previous episode was released into the forest. Later we moved inland where we found the Terciopelo (Bothrops asper) and the Cope's false coral snake (Pliocercus euryzonus). We also filmed the Hognosed pit viper (Porthidium nasutum). Thank you guys for watching and if you missed previous episodes, enjoy watching them too!

  • Thanks a lot for this interesting video! I remember that we were also warned in the travel advisor about aggressive snakes in the Cahuita region, but did not see any snakes at all as we were staying on the main paths for tourists. Thanks for the reminder of the beautiful nature in and it's wildlife in Costa Rica.

    • Very welcome! Snakes are not aggressive, they can only be defensive if they feel threatened 🙂 Usually you don’t see any snakes if you don’t search for them!

  • That big bushmaster (they get over 10ft) is really impressive and dangerous. Only egg-laying pit viper in the world. It must be protected along with everything else there. I hope to visit Costa Rica someday and there’s still a lot of wild.

    • Thank you for watching! Bushmasters are not the only egg-laying pit vipers, the other is for example the Malayan pit viper.

  • Heh - Nicholas' vine snake didn't seem worried in the least. "Mildly venomous" would have worried me a lot more than the snake! :)

    @calvinhobbes7504@calvinhobbes75042 ай бұрын
    • These vine snake very rarely bite and their venom is really not dangerous for people, they also have rear fangs (they would need to chew properly to deliver venom). So Nicholas was quite safe here 🙂

    @rabiudauda5381@rabiudauda53813 ай бұрын
    • Having antivenom with you is not possible. It needs to be stored in fridge and it can be only administered in hospitals.
