Chris was one of the first solar PV customers that we had the pleasure to work with at Kimble Solar. In this video, he discusses what it's been like since making the big switch to clean, green solar energy. Not only is his household electricity load almost exclusively covered by solar energy, but he's also saving hundreds each month that he would have otherwise been spending on petrol.
He also explains how he configures and optimises his system across winter and summer to make improved savings.
Chris has 15 panels, a Growatt 13 kWh battery and inverter and MyEnergi Eddi hot water diverter.

  • Interesting I have seen a couple of UK systems using growatt, not the most popular brand here in Australia

    • Yes they're fairly popular here! Which brands are most popular over there?

  • Surely you'd be better off on intelligent octopus 🐙 go at 7.5p a KWH off peak for longer as you have a zappi which pairs well with IOG. And it gives you a better export option to at 15p a kW

    • Glad you reminded me to check because they’ve only just added the Zappi and Polestar.

    • Ah yeah, the issue is that it won’t work with home batteries and with two different EVs. Or at least I don’t think so. Will check with Octopus support.

    • @putasokinhet I have a home battery 🔋 (power wall 2) and a model x and it works well for me, And because its the zappi that is controlled by IOG it wouldn't matter if I had a second EV you just make sure you put the details in of the one with the bigger battery.

    • Hi lee , I’m on intelligent octopus go but dont seem to have an export rate . We have solar so this would be beneficial. How do you get an export rate ?

      @persona250@persona250Ай бұрын
    • @persona250 assuming you have solar or solar and battery to be able to export get in contact with octopus and they'll need details such as you export MPAN and other details from your install and DNO approval etc

  • How is the temperature in the loft? Isn't it too hot in the summer for the batteries?
