  • For Mittelstadt, it's all about staying healthy. He's had a miserable season in terms of his health, that started out with a broken wrist in the first game because Brendan Gallagher slashed him. Mitts is finally healthy now and has 9 points in his last 9 games.

  • the issue with mikheyev last season was that his wrist injury completely ruined his offensive ability - he’s always been a strong defensive player and an absolute weapon on the penalty kill, but he couldn’t finish on any of his opportunities this year, however, the goals have returned, and his defensive abilities have continued to improve - he’d be our most dangerous penalty killer if marner didn’t exist i think liljegren is also pretty under appreciated as a young contributor because of how good sandin has been, but the third pairing of giordano and liljegren has been easily our most consistent and versatile line

    • @@rinotz7 mcleod is not and never will be a top 6 forward. 3C is likely his ceiling. mind you, that's still useful. you have plenty of top 6 forwards. if only you had some semblance of a defense or a goalie who could actually stop pucks. i swear to god holland is trying to sabotage your team. what the hell did you trade down for when there was a franchise goalie on the board at your pick? why did you trade assets for keith's multi-year albatross, and give ceci 4x what he would have earned anywhere else in term and in salary? it doesn't matter how many scoring titles 97 and 29 win if the management has no idea how to construct a team and leaves big obvious gaping holes on the roster. the duo might get them to the playoffs, but they won't go anywhere once in them. you'll never win anything with holland at the helm.

    @dmac26official@dmac26official2 жыл бұрын

    • @@teapea8184 70 points is NOT a disappointing season for a 2 way forward. This Panthers team is a huge outlier, offensively. Don't think that they'll score like 4.4 gpg every year. It won't happen. The cap basically assures it.

      @dmac26official@dmac26official2 жыл бұрын
    • @@dmac26official My point is that Lundell is more than just a defensive 2-way forward. He has been under rated for pretty much his whole carreer. It still just boggles my mind he dropped down to a 12th pick, when in Liiga he was matching the likes of Barkov in points. He is projecting to literally be a second Barkov for Florida, would we be satisfied with Barkov doing 70 points a year? I'd say we wouldn't. Your comment was projecting Lundell to not develop at all offensively from his rookie year. And while that is possible, I'd say for most high profile rookies it's a disappointing result.

  • I was listening to a Sharks podcast recently and it was talking about how at the start of the season it was looking like the Sharks completely fleeced the Canucks on the Dahlen for Linus Karlsson trade, but as the season went on Dahlen's scoring fell off while Karlsson tied for second in the SHL goal scoring with 26 goals and tied for 9th in points with 46 in 52 games. The conclusion they came to (I believe it was a Swedish scout talking about it) was that Dahlen will likely end up as the better player, but it will be much closer than it initially seemed.

  • I'm not a hockey player but I imagine that those wrist injuries like the one Kirby Dach had can have a negative impact. IMO he returned too early by joining the team last season and lost a lot of confidence because of it. There was more pressure put on him to produce as they were pushing for a playoff spot. This season has been bad for the Blackhawks for a multitude of reasons, but I still refuse to call Dach a bust. Once the organization sorts out who will be coaching the team through the rebuild, there will be a clearer focus on strong player development and he may thrive next season seemingly out of nowhere. It's a matter of having the right people in place to push him to get better.

It’s also not helping his case that a handful of players (who also play for bad teams) selected after him are emerging as stars and have been more effective at the NHL level - ie. Zegras, Caufield, Seider

      @Jersey209@Jersey2092 жыл бұрын
    • What is it that anyone truly sees as potential with Dach??? He still skates like a baby giraffe though he does not fall on his own as much as he used to. So that's at least a positive trend. He still cannot win a face off to save his life and often looks horribly bad in losing them. He still skates around with his stick constantly on his hip and in no position to make a play. He is slow to take on his check and is sloth-like in his urgency to back check. He'll be the first to get the puck along the boards, but he seems to have no clue or desire to do anything other than freeze it. He is not a physical presence despite his size, and has no grit to his game whatsoever. At best he was a long term project but he has shown nothing to prove against the theory of his being ridiculously overrated. 4th round pick or lower, he'd have a glimmer of hope. Being he was the #3 overall pick, he is a bust. More and more fans are beginning to see his failures, however there are way too many who think they can excuse his youth and his injury. I'd still trade him for anything another Dachsucker thinks he is worth. Doubtful he'll get anything substantial in any trade.

And 1 minute a night is consistent, if he got 1 every few games that inconsistent! Maybe the rangers rely to much on the power play especially if you think that’s what will push him to the next level! If he starts scoring all your ppg then kreider can’t score as many. Other teams with 1OA picks (Hughes on NJ, for example) NEED those young players to produce because they don't have the firepower elsewhere. the kid plays LW, and the other two forwards ahead of him that play on his side are Kreider and Panarin, two of the best goal scorers and playmakers in the league right now, respectively. that's why his minutes are so sheltered. him being lower in the line up adds depth to the team. lafreniere is good.

Maurice was entirely veteran biased, and it looks like that’s leaked into Lowrys coaching style (which hopefully is eradicated after this season). Let’s be real, we need a new system in that locker room, not the same thing Maurice had just with a less experienced coach. Hoping they make a solid decision this off-season.

Then he ran out of batteries and has been playing like a fringe player. His cheap deal seems to earmark him as a 4th liner. For him to flourish, he'll need to improve his conditioning. A player with better potential is Lehkonen. I project next season's 2nd line to be: Newhook, Nuke, and ? This winger could be Lehky, or an outsider on a one year deal. It will depend on how he does in the playoffs.

The dude will be 26 next year and is a solid call up but every time he gets a breakaway or solid scoring chance he seems to wiff and skate back to the bench frustrated. His 1M one way contact extention until 30 barely puts him in the show. Aube-Kubel is the same player as O'Conner and we picked him up on waivers. They are both value veterans at the 13th forward roster spot. The potential for them to turn into Ville Leino in the playoffs and then get traded for something way more than their actual value does exist though.

He's reached his peak with this team and he is not good, competent or experienced enough to take this team to the next level. The players no longer have any faith in the coaches and Detroit needs to replace all or most of them in the offseason.
