I'm new to siege and kapkan was the first character I unlocked. It's so fun to use the EDD charges and demolish flankers. His SMG is really good too

Shout out to Thorn as a sort of trap augmentor. While she CAN get kills with them, her pinecones are better at two other roles: Telling Defenders where Attackers are, and panicking Defenders to push through a blind are with other traps! ETA: I jumped the gun and wrote this comment before I realized it WASN'T just Kapkan, Frost, and Lesion. 😅

I like thorn because its fun to throw razorblooms outside the map at high traffic areas like the wall to outside in armory in Border and Stadium Bravo
Barbed wire and prox alarms can do that as a secondary gadget
thorns get kills when combined with razor wire. placing them where somebody will likely get in a gunfight and be forced to stand still is also effective.

The Problem with melusi is that she was Designed to be roamer: 3 Speed, Primary with only 1x scopes, bulletproof for Intel anchors or impacts for escape while roaming + a secondary for More gunpower. With the recent changes (1 Speed) Ubisoft intended to Made her Play onside near her Gadgets (See Designer notes). This while she kept her Roaming Loadout. In compensation for 1 Speed seh should get at least either : 1.5x, or an Option for secondary shotgun (frosts as they Share the Primary shotgun or the baliff as doc has it as well as a 1.5x mp5) and a C4/shield instead of impact. Shield Could possible be to Strong But with brava also existing melusi does Not bring enough Utility as an anchor. She cant setup Site, she cant hold a specific area due to Lack of C4/Shield/1.5x for Longer engagements.
Yeah them making Melusi a 3 armor really killed her in my opinion. There isn't much going for her anymore
I dont See a Problem in her beeing a 1 Speed as her gadget can complement it Pretty well - basically a better proximity Alarm But her Loadout Does Not fit in..

Great video, Beast! My only gripe is with Ela's gadget. You make a great point that lesion gets more, but his gadget is inherently weaker because it has to be placed on the floor and can be shot easily. In addition, it takes a TON of time to actually get all 8 of his mines. While Ela only gets 3 mines, they can be placed anywhere, making them much harder for attackers to destroy, they have a much greater effect on an attacker's ability to handle a swinging defender, and she has all three right away, meaning she doesn't have to sit around site waiting to throw down her stuff as they magically pop into her inventory.
I personally use thorns gadget as a glorified prox alarm except for some cases. It still needs an absolute buff, if they stay how they are right now she needs 5 of them but i think if they just make them activate faster she can run 4 or maybe stay at 3
Ela is situational but so good on the right sight. For example: Top floor of Kafe, you place one trap on skylight for drop or default plant, one under the lampstand by cigar hatch and red stairs door, and one top of white stairs. Place shield in cigar facing hatch and its a free kill every time on the hatch drop. Plus audio queues on all major pushes.

Thorne got done dirty and many players dont grasp the way she is meant to be played. The ability to push enemy players into lines of sight your team can safely cover without risking death is insanely valuable. If you only rate her traps fragging potential, then you simply dont understand their intended use. Her gadget is not made for fragging, its made for area denial. She also has the added bonus of knowing when a trap goes of similar to lesion, the only major downside being that she doesnt have as many razerblooms as lesion has mines. Another minor downside to lesion is that her gadgets sometimes go off a little late, that way the attacker already had the chance to rotate out of the spot in question, making the intel a little less useful.

X1.5 for Thorn probably makes her 4-5 now, and Frost rework is gonna boost Kaplan to 1 and drop Frost to 3-5. Absolutely despise the Frost Rework and I really want them to just cancel it, do you have any idea how hard it is to get people to step on a welcome mat in the first place? I could see a rework like it being plausible if they physically shrunk the mat by 50% or something, but as it is it’s way too easy to see and avoid. I have a feeling they are nerfing Frost to try and make Rush playstyles (the ones already plaguing Siege) even more viable. I would like to see a buff to Frost and Thorns abilities not a Nerf or bandaid solution like a x1.5

I tend to use Frost most of the time from the trapper category. Most people think she's useless somehow. A good strategy what i always do is: -Tear of the barricade from the window to prevent Ash's charges or Zofia's charges to demloish the trap along with the barricade -Place a frost mat little bit to the side, like the trap's side should be in the middle of the window, it's not always works, but sometimes it can catch people off guard -Place the depoloyable shield around an area where you've clear sight of the window and the trap. Good example of this is Outback's kidsroom, where you're able to hold kid's room wall; window, L-shape "main stairs" and the hallway. Put a trap under shower's window; kid's room window and a trap on L-shape stairs. It's a power position, cause they can't rush you from stairs, cause they need to shoot the trap. you're able to watch kid's room window behind the deployable shield and the wall as well. That's a power position area. -You can place it next to the doors, so if they peak, while moving in it'll catch them off guard. -You can place traps in high traffic entrance points. For example: Defending Border's workshop, place trap in to under "Bathroom's' window" -Sometimes they're able to blend in the enviroment. For example like Chalet's kitchen. Place two traps in to the plants and a cam in to the wall. They'll try to hit the camera first, meanwhile they're directly walk in to the trap I love Lesion as well. Especially in Theme Park, where you're able to hold both entrance point windows from above by making an impact grenade hole on the floor in the second floor (Bunk and Security/Control room), when you're defending armory. I got so many kills. Also Lesion is great, cause you're able to toss some traps, which will give you sound info, if they're about to push you, so you'll be prepared and safe. I rarely play Melussi nowdays. A good example of her would be Kanal's 2nd floor. Place two traps next to the breachable wall. One next to the wall and one behind the "hatch room" area, meanwhille you can destroy the hatch and the floor and hold it from below from control room. so attackers gonna have a difficult time and they have to find other ways.

Even though I know Thorn isn't considered a good pick, I always run her because her traps are always a good indicator to where the enemies are coming. You could say the same for any trap operator but idk she has SOMETHING that makes it easier than the rest of them.
i was a thorn main for a while too but trust me lesion is so much better his t5 is probably the best gun in the game and u have an unlimited amount of intel vs thorn only has 3 give lesion a try and you’ll see that he is wayyy better, plus he has a really cool elite top 3 fs

It's because she only has 3 so it's easier to remember where you put it and also it makes a fairly loud audible cue for you to be aware where it went off. Tbh, Thorn is only really picked because of her load out. I used to be a Thorn main and hey gadget is really lackluster.
I started the game a few weeks ago. Already skipped copper completely (die to the tips and tricks you and other youtubers have given me so thanks for that one. One thing tho in my elo (copper-bronze) actually i got most of my trap kills with thorns razorbloom. I think its because most low elo people are so focused on kapkan and Frost and have no idea what thorn traps are doing or what they are. As i started the game, a friend told me about them thats why i was prepared for them. But other than that i get at least one most of the rounds i play thorn 😂

Say what you want about Thorn, she's one of my favorite operators. Her guns are so good and there's almost nothing more satisfying to me than getting a kill with her razorblooms (sometimes even a double kill). I like frost and kapkan too and even though I know they're better than thorn, I still run her most of the time. I'm honestly surprised how often I get kills or downs with thorn's traps.

thorns gadget is a 5 at least, stacking them near a corridor window can trap a player to die to your swing
I like frost the most because of maps that needs people to jump through windows. If you have just one trap you could either kill the distracted attacker that has to destroy the trap whilst jumping in or get a free kill from someone unsuspecting.
I main frost and get a lot of trap kills just by knowing where to catch attackers offguard. It can be common Windows and you get a guaranteed kill by having the advantage of peeking while they look down, or it can be used in less common Windows spots. You can place them behind the shield on a doorframe and create the same effect. But the best traps are those on wooden staircases where you can shoot the floor with the shootgun and the trap goes inside the floor, very hard to see without droning properly. There are also tricks with azami and some very powerful spots that are related to certain maps. That being said, frost sucks in sites like basements or some first floor objectives where defenders are coming from upstairs or there are no Windows. Kapkan can be used in any site or for roaming and I always switch to him in these scenarios.

I don't really see how a shield does more than impacts or nitro. Sure it's good but it's definitely not amazing. I'd say that kapkan should be #1 here even with brava being released and losing his 1.5x. his gun is too good and the only thing you really have to worry about is a drone now. Frost's traps are way too big and you really have to learn how to use them to get value if you even can. Kapkan is much more versatile with his traps as you can use them now to trick people with putting two traps on both sides of the door. So you either kill them or you get one on them as they would have to check both sides. Even still by making them have to stop and shoot can help up with getting easy kills

i can't honestly tell if this video is supposed to be satire or not, the vsn doesn't have high rof, the c1 9mm isn't the perfect smg, the Super 90 is one of the best semi auto shotguns in the game damage wise, the T-5 is one of the best smg's in the game, the q-929 is the single best pistol in the game dealing the same damage as the pmm with 3 extra shots, the scorpion has the second largest magazine capacity on defenders smg's behind the p90, the mp5 is the definition of an average smg in siege in all regards... seeing how pretty much nothing you said about the guns is correct i'm wondering if we're even playing the same game
Kapkan shouldn't have a 10/10 versatility. He has to place his traps in doors. On some sites he's pretty much useless. Also, only having explosive secondary gadgets and no secondary shotgun, it limits his versatility, no?

Don't play siege añymore but I was plat 2 mained kapkan with sasg 12 no attachments and the gsh 18... What I've noticed is the sasg by itself is horrible, it requires sometimes using kapkan traps as baits. I would bait for kills by faking a kapkan placement when knowing an enemy was near not commit and wait for them to attack me and blast them with sasg... But then again your talking meta so of course your going to downplay everything that isn't commonly seen.

Sorry, disagree on gadgets. The best traps are the one you don't see: Frosts can be seen even if you barely use your drone. You need to be blind to fall on it. They don't even need to know there is Frost to se the traps. The amount of prep to cover them is not worth the time to prepare the site. You might say the mats can work as a distraction, but there are better operators for that. Kapkan can be seen with drones if placed low, or out of drone when placed high, but it requires to be careful, so it is good, but at the same time if enemy knows there is a kapkan, they'll be careful. Lesion is best because as I said the best trap is the one you don't see. All operators can be seen easily, Guus can't be seen even if you know there is a Lesion in the team. Just too much of focus for something little. Sure, his trap deal low dmg, but keep in mind that you are probably going to proxy roam in a place you trapped. When you know where is the enemy and you hear the sound of taking out the needle, you can peek and take the kill. It's the best distraction because it stuns them into an animation. Also, very versatile. Can be placed wherever you want on the ground, can give cheap dmg, avoids pushes, very good trap. Melusi I agree Ela I kind of agree. It's like Lesion, but more aggro because you must go for the stunned enemy and take the kill. The bad side is that there are too many little traps and the proper way to used them is not as traps as for stun granades. You people are pushing or are around an area? Throw and push. However, it is very versatile as Lesion. Where she lacks in amount, it gains in being placeable on walls and ceiling, which means that if you know she is in the team, you really need to get out of your way to spot them. Thorn. That's a big no. I agree it takes a lot of time to explode, but then again, you say the problem is placing her in the right and very precise spots to get something from the bloom, well, same is for frost mats. The difference is that thorn can be placed EVERYWHERE, which means it is easily concealable. It is small, so it is easily concealable. The best traps are the one you don't see? Yes, exactly. A simple drone cannot find them by mistake, you need to actually look for them and if they do, we now talk about forced aim during animation (vaulting) and aim distraction. Both mats and blooms need to have someone camping to get the distraction value from them, but guess what, with blooms you get distraction and sound cue value once the enemy takes a step in, the mat gives a sound cue if the mat is getting shot or if it lands. And if the fact that the mat has to work for giving a good sound cue, well, bloom can down someone and give a sound cue on that too. In my opinion Thorn's Gadget is infinitely superior to Frost's. And in general, Lesion has the best trap. Very fast and safe to deploy it (unlike mat). When you see it it's too late. Defenders are coming and you are stuck in an animation. The dmg is optional and not required. Also, you get plenty of them.
