  • He had me with "Non Negotiable" !!!!! Bloke is Arsenal 'Through and Through' !! When you look at how he has changed the club from top to bottom since he came in, it absolutely baffles me how there are still "Arteta out" Doubters ??? Even if he doesn't win a trophy this man has put us on the right path and is an ARSENAL Legend for that alone !!!

    • I knew from that first interview that Mikel would be exactly what the club needed. Easily one of Wenger's best signings, but we never knew it at the time

      @teddybruckshut3533@teddybruckshut3533Ай бұрын
    • Yeah, Mikel is that guy that could go to an easier job like Barcelona & absolutely clean up for years! Yet he's here in the trenches and still getting some blowback for it. You can sense there's a section of fans waiting for him to fail, so they can say he wasn't the right one.

    • Exactly,there were aspects of the team that was fundamentally flawed and MA saw that, called it out and promised to fix them, which he said he was going to do right from the beginning and I was on board from that first non negotiables interview

      @lmostayoutuber@lmostayoutuberАй бұрын
    • THIS! Especially the doubters bit. Despite the obviously progress the team showed almost every season since he arrived, doubters won't even shut up and wait and see how else things improve with the limited or allowed budget compared to teams like LIV or MCI. It's not justified even at this point, but still...🙄. It's weird af. I accepted him from that 1st interview, and obviously I gave him time to back up his talk. Win or loose, he's stood on his word. That's more than enough for me to not expect instant titles each year from him.

  • Mourinho saw this coming in the 21 season after beating Arsenal 2-0 with Spurs. He said, "against a team that is probably going to be criticised because of the points and the position on the table are not good, but I have to say, very good team, very good coach. A team with different ways to play. A team that is able to change during the game. A team that is able to build with 4 or 5, with the centre backs or the midfield players dropping. A team with a lot of work".

  • Since the day Mikel walked through the door at Arsenal, he understood exactly what the club needed. We might not always agree with him, but it’s safe to say, that he has the clubs best interest at heart. My favorite moment was at the beginning of this season, when he was asked, how he reflected on last season and he said, he looked in the mirror and asked himself, if he’s still the right person for the job. To him, it’s not just about his personal success. He loves this club. And that’s why we as fans feel connected to him. He understands our love for Arsenal, because he loves the club just as much as we do.

  • Great analysis. 👌🏽 One Arteta interview that stood out for me the most was when we lost 1-0 to Everton last year and in the post match press conference he said something fascinating like: “I want the boys to know I love them now more than I did 3 hours, a week or a month ago.” Just goes to show how much responsibility he is willing to take to ensure the team’s morale remains strong at all times. Top manager. 👏🏽

  • There's no other person on the planet better suited for the job than Arteta. And the reason is simple. He's an Arsenal fan. He's 110% passionate and committed to the club. Pep in the interview where he mentioned that when Arteta was still at City, he always celebrated goals and wins against every club except against Arsenal. Pep said it's because Mikel is an Arsenal fan at heart just like he is a Barcelona fan at heart and that if he were an assistant manager somewhere, and the opportunity comes for him to return to Barcelona to become Head Coach, he wouldn't hesitate. And so he always knew that Arteta would leave City one day to coach Arsenal.

You have an uncanny ability to make us follow your train of thought at the end of which, almost always, you have a solid insight or point to make. • Very well said and agreed. I loved Arteta as a player, but had my doubts about him as manager until I heard his first interview. As you said, he described exactly what needed to be done and continues to execute on his mission to make Arsenal truly world class. He has remade the club culture from top to bottom and all that needs to happen now, imho, is for many of the fans to catch up with it, relax a bit and enjoy this amazing and beautiful ride. He truly is at the leading edge of progressive football, a Basque, modern Rinus Michels, if you will. I absolutely love his approach to football. On a side note, I just wish Klopp were staying at Liverpool longer, as the rivalry between Arteta, Klopp and Pep makes the league truly epic and would've made the coming years wondrous for fans of the beautiful game. As a fellow football nerd (since 1978), you just got a new subscriber. Thanks and be well !

  • There is no doubt about the journey being the fun part. Its why watching the youngsters come through the academy is so fun. We get to see the growth, the maturation of a player. It is the same with team building. We have followed the growth and maturation of this team. We know that this team is NOWHERE near its peak, really. And they are learning in front of our eyes. We can see it all so clearly. Like you, I was always a supporter of Mikel, and like you there was a point where I was also running out of reasons to keep him in late 2020. So, what has happened since has been wonderful. He has already built one of the best sides I have seen in my 50 years as an Arsenal supporter, and I honestly believe there is so much more to come. Of course, trophies need to come, and within the next 15 months or so ideally. But if we just keep moving in a positive direction, I have no doubt that the trophies and accolades will arrive.

Must be said - we are also lucky the board could see this too when he had the teething problems in year 1, they stuck with him, and that probably gave him extra loyalty appreciation and determination too. What a great time for Arsenal fans ❤😊👍

I didn't want him at arsenal and wondering how last season arsenal were brilliant but this season looked rubbish, putting party right back etc and no attacking or pressing but arsenal fell short because run out of gas last season and maybe just maybe arteta had a plan to save energy for the second half of the season this year. • Arterta non-negotiable attitude transformed us. He was ruthless in getting rid of Aubameyang. He was our captain but he was not fit as a leader. He was busy enjoying a flamboyant London lifestyle. The only reason we made Auba captain was because he was our only star striker, and we knew we couldn't sign anyone better at that time.

  • With Arteta... Have we successfully gained an Aire to Wenger's legacy in a manner befitting long term concrete foundations for this kind of football, that may even Emulate some of Wenger' later years success! (Statement not question) that would make the rest of the league really salty

  • For some reason, I don’t think the media gives Mikel enough credit for what he has done. He is always Pep’s apprentice in the media and we have to thank Pep for what Mikel has achieved.

    • It's not hard to tell that Pep has mad respect for Mikel and had hoped to keep him around a bit longer. I would love to sit in and listen to them discuss football. Add Klopp and Alonso and it would be a dream for a any true football junkie. Cheers!
