    • My dad used to hunt them on holidays to Sardinia where he was born. He then used to fill our inflatable boat with sea water and keep the squid inside it until we went home. Then he emptied the cooling box and put the animal inside. From where it went straight into my grandma’s freezer when we got home from the beach :p And then later that evening of next day it would be on the dinner table 😂

  • Whenever people talk about how "animals don't feel pain like us" all I can think - as someone who has chronic pain and who goes to a number of groups - HUMANS don't even expirence pain like other humans. What hurts you might not hurt me, and pain that leaves me helpless might be nothing for you. Who cares if they don't feel pain "like humans". I'll bet it still sucks to sufficate and die.

  • OK, here's a serious but weird question: Is anybody else totally creeped-out by squid? I have an instinctive loathing of squid. No other creature has this effect on me. In fact, I love octopuses. I find them "cute." This video was impossible to watch in one sitting. I had to keep stepping away to deal with revulsion at all the squid. Apparently there is such a thing as teuthiphobia but I never realized how bad I have it until today.

    • Listened to a story from a research diver that got attacked by a Humboldt, and the hooks in the suckers had hold of him and it's beak was biting his face mask. Imagine a beak the size of 2 hands scratching open and closed 3cm's from your face. Apparently they can rotate they're sucker hook around and also, apparently Humboldt are small now about 50cm long body and there are heaps more of them. It shocked the scientists how fast they changed they think their prey are smaller but plentyfull now. I'm sure it's correct, but... Internet.

If there’s any way in post production to lower that slightly nasal and high-pitched tone, these videos would be so much more enjoyable. Thanks so much.

My wife has been a paediatric nurse for decades and is really pissed that many contemporary nurses still spout that malarkey. Mainly to get out of work and charting! So spare a thought for those little humans that have just had their chest cracked open for heart surgery and are stuck with a nurse who won’t give them their prescribed opioids but rather gives them a few milligrams of Tylenol for pain and some Gravol (sedative anti-nausea medication) to knock them out for a few hours so they can be sure to get their gallon of coffee for the morning!

      @2msvalkyrie529@2msvalkyrie52927 күн бұрын
    • @@2msvalkyrie529 When discussing a specific country, people typically do not refer to the entire continent of Europe. For instance, mentioning Germany and then referring to Europe would conflate the unique aspects of one country with the whole continent. Similarly, in the video, they were discussing a particular country, Ghana, but then generalized to Africa, as though it represented all 54 countries on the continent. Africa is the home to 1.3 billion people, over 1,500 languages, and 13 of the world's 25 fastest growing economies. It is offensive to just casually group them all together.
