Leshens are one of the coolest monsters in this whole franchise. They have their own totems and looks based on what kinda woodland creatures they control. I also like how in the game geralt explains how the leshens can use crows as eyes in the sky over their forests, love the monsters in this series.
In slavic mitology they look kind different
@@srebrybrek4238 in slavic mythology they behave much more like guardians, but in witcher (by cd projekt at least) they behave more like teritorial beasts that adapt into environment they claim and feed like animals.

Dude leshens are terrifying, imagine walking around the forest in your backyard and you see a deer skull totem, you break it, only to turn around and see that fucking beast appearing and disappearing behind trees followed by wolves and crows

I love how everything looks, but i thought Vesemir would be a bit more serious when fighting such a powerful creature. Leshens pose a pretty serious threat, and thought him just smack talking it the entire time took a bit away from the fight. Also, isn't Vesemir pretty serious about fighting style in the books/games? why is he holding his sword in an ice pick grip? Loved the fight scene, but felt like it would have been more hype if he wasn't so much like Trevor Belmont from Castlevania.
Agree it was awkward and at times cringe. They probably thought it sounded witty and bad ass but he kind of came off as a dolt.
To be fair, Vesemir is 100 years older in the games. He likely got grumpy as the decades passed(and Geralt even says that the old man was a womanizer of sorts when he is drinking with Eskel and Lambert)

I liked this Leshen design, sure I admit the one in the game is much more refined so to speak, but I liked the simplicity in this one. More so because the abilities it showed during the fight were pretty badass.
I don't like it it looks more like a undead what it isnt

I love how this showcases the raw speed, power, and agility that witchers have.

@@ElMachoMucho Yeah I know the books portrayed them a lot differently but I like the way the games and the movie portray them physically since in the book their strength wasn't that crazy.
@@dippyfresh5784 the main problem I have with it even though it's cool to watch it's still movie based after a property that it doesn't very well represent. One of the coolest things about the book is that ever battle is a very hard and tasking challenge that the Witcher has to out smart not just out perform.

Seeing as the vampires in the witcher are vastly inferiror to the ones in castlevania, i wouldnt hold my breath.

He can kill a witcher, Big deal. the whole encounter with the unseen elder was a "tell don't show" moment. sure, he threw Geralt around a bit and could kill him in a flash but what else? Its is a bit of a common trend with vampires in the witcher, their only abilities are their speed and durability and nothing else Castlevanias vampires can do all that and more, they are more rational, capable of using magic, they don't shy away from weaponry such as swords and spears unlike the witcher vampires who all rely on extended claws and a bestial way of fighting to succeed, both lower and higher vampires. I'd even go as far as saying Trevor belmont would beat Geralt in a fight, he might be younger and a drunk but one swing from his flail and geralt would go kaboom. "Geralt isnt a monster", no he is a Mutant and is a such an unholy creation which is what the morningstar slays. Castlevania is a much more deadly world that the witcher. and i stand by that.

tbf, Witchers have super human stamina, agility, and he took a potion which could be one of the ones that pushes up his endurance.

I'll maintain to the day I die that this man isn't my Vesemir (there's just something fundamentally *wrong* about seeing a Grumpy Old Man as a sexy and suave anime protagonist) but he's still cool as hell.
Vesemir's 100 years older in the games/books; personalities change when you have that long to live.
from what i can tell about the dialogue in the game, especially during the drinking before the battle that vesimir was a different man when he was young, so im not doubting this version of him. Also it's when you have your young wild days that you mellow out as u get older and wiser.

It looks flashy, but If not for the title, I would never guess it's based on the Witcher series and not some random anime.
Looks generic as hell. There's even the defenseless kid and the grappling hook... Anime is so clichey
Gorgeous motions, simplistic character palettes, excellent setting. The only weird decision is having the character voices come from the exact same place at the same volume no matter the layout. But that's small potatoes - gotta watch this.
I like how not even once they've drawn oversimplified silly face in this, even when the sword is put to the neck of the kid - they've drawed it properly.
That's kinda some of anime's charm in my opinion, although this is perfectly fine too

Anyone else think the leshen looks a bit disappointing? I know the netflix adaption based off the books, but in the Witcher 3, the leshens were my favorite monster because they were both powerful and mysterious. This is( as he says ) "a forest hobo". But over all, great film.

That wasn't exactly a normal Leshen, it was a hybrid. Which alludes to the rest of the plot of the movie.
@@cd5sircoupe Your right and I get that. But he did not seem all that surprised by it appearance. Vesemir was only surprised that the leshen spoke. So I'm assuming that all leshens typically look like that.
It's weird how we have the medallion humming with an a actual sound whereas in the game geralt just says medallion is humming
Well the medallion also shakes around when you enter a fight, at the top left of the screen next to your health bar

The medallion's use is much more noticeable in the second game, whereas in Wild Hunt, like what the comment above said, it's very subtle.
He's literally just like Lucifer, Trevor Belmont, and a Witcher all rolled into one. That's awesome!

They could've given him any other kind of gadget like a gliding tool or throwing knives but they went for a chain... like Trevor Belmont.

Not really comparable since Trevor's morningstar is an actual weapon and this chain that Vesemir uses is just a utility item he used for enhanced mobility. In season 1 of The Witcher, Geralt uses a silvered chain on a striga to temporarily bind it, harming it at the same time. By this deduction, Silvered chains are common for Witchers to use.
That thing looked like vertical maneuvering equipment from AOT

It’s like someone tried to do their own spin on the Castlevania series without knowing what made it good in the first place. Good writing, and being respectful of the source material.
This was better than all of Netflix's "adaption" of the Witcher series. If you could call it that.

@I urunuo it's the name of the blast he used towards the end. The fire he used is a skill also called Igni.
@I urunuo Witchers are trained in basic alchemy for potions and oils, sword fighting(obviously), and basic magic called signs(that compared to real sorceres and mages, are just little tricks, but they are quite useful), one of them is Aard, that is a blast, like a sudden push.
@I urunuo aard is force sign. igni is fire sign. there's others. quen is shield sign. yrden is trap sign and axii is manipulation sign
I kinda see why Vesemir became an overnight sensation on THAT part of the internet. He's hot... even without igni.
I would love to see a animated series about The Witcher more realistic... like no super jumping or these 30x slash in 1sec. that they do in every animated series/movies that they made. Watching a heavy, slow paced combat with some real choreography in it would be beautiful.
If it’s animated the combat definitely won’t be slow paced that would suit a live action series (which we have) better. Any animated fantasy show/movie is gonna always be fast paced when it involves super humans and their abilities
@@Kingsani14 Not exactly, you have movies and animated series with a slow paced combat that is incredible. Look for "Sword of the Stranger"... and you'll see what i mean.
But the thing is that witchers in their natural capabilities, without concoctions, are already far exceeding the natural abilities of humans - add magical potions which exponentially increase their abilities and they go from super soldiers to forces of nature.

@@jarlcohnson4738 No, 90 years. Vesemir is around 170 years old in the Netflix Witcher. In this show he's around 70, same as his Love/Childhood friend. Geralt is around 10 here, so add 100 years to Vesemir and he'll be 170 in the show.

I didn't know Vesemir used to be a sassy reverse-grip hipster. Luckily, he later turned his life around.
The only explanation for the aard sigth is that he drunk a potion that increases sign intensity. I love to think he drunk petri's philter, Wich in the game increases intensity and duration of sign.
although the potion is more of a Thunderbolt because of the green color
I'm level 17 now. There's a Level 20 Leshen back at Reardon manor. He's been hunting me, myself and I for the longest time. Time to get back at the tree hugger.
Flipping knew it, had the bugger chasing me for a short while when i went for the Griffin set. Thought he was High level so i just ran out of the Leshen’s range. I’m lv 24 and 16 on two saves in the same run so i could Maybe handle the Leshen, but i don’t really see the point of going after it.

This is, ironically, the best Witcher related thing that Netflix has made imo. I enjoyed it as an alternate take on the universe, it certainly wasn't as off the rails as the main series, and blood origins ratings speak for themselves

The leshens are meant to be forest spirits who makes physical bodies from matirial found around their teretory (wood, bones, grass etc), which is why they all look different and unique from one another. This one just straight up looked like a monster and not like a leshen in the slightest, and not a spirit either. he might have burned the body but unless he banishes the spirit it would just come back... Had it been a real Leshen that is.
Did you see the movie? If you did, you would know why this one looks like this and why it actually spoke before it died

I think the show can be pretty good, but I don't feel like there is anything witchery besides the name
Kinda of disappointed that we don’t see more from the other skills (cat, snake, bear, griffon) but it looks good so far
To be fair, only "canon" Schools are Wolf, Cat, and Griffin.
Griffin arguably has the least show time. Only Coen really is mentioned if i remember and the guy went and got himself killed in a battlefield.

This was an amazing fight. Lucky kid to come across a Witcher while being hunted by a Leshen. The face at 2:15 has me hollering. 😂
Because of this scene,i went to replay the witcher 3 and spent my skill point to ard sign and went into full magic caster ,ard is great to use against drowners,nekkers,hag, 🤣
