By September 2005, Mitsubishi introduced a concept version of the next-gen Evolution at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show named the Concept-X. The Lancer Evolution X sedan features a newly designed 4B11T 2.0L (1998cc) turbocharged, all-aluminium inline-4 GEMA engine. Power and torque depend on the market but all versions will have at least 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp). (JDM version), the American market version will have slightly more. The UK models will be reworked by Mitsubishi UK, in accordance with previous MR Evolutions bearing the FQ badge. Options for the UK Evolutions are expected to be between 300 hp (220 kW) and 360 hp (270 kW).
Two versions of the car are offered in the U.S. The Lancer Evolution MR, with 6-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST). The other version is the GSR which has a 5-speed manual transmission system. The car also has a new full-time four-wheel-drive system named S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control), an advanced version of Mitsubishi's AWC system used in previous generations. The S-AWC uses torque vectoring technology to send different amounts of torque to the rear wheels.
It also featured Mitsubishi's new six-speed SST dual-clutch automatic transmission with steering-mounted magnesium alloy shift paddles. It has replaced the Tiptronic automatic transmission, hence the SST version replaced the GT-A version (which was used in Evolution VII and Evolution IX Wagon). A five-speed manual gearbox was also available. The Lancer Evolution also incorporated Mitsubishi's next-generation RISE safety body.
The Evolution X went on sale October 2, 2007 in Japan, January 2008 in the USA, February in Canada (as the first version of Evolution in Canada) and by March 2008 in the UK. The Twin Clutch SST version was available in Japan from November 2007. Europe will follow with sales in May, GSR and MR version included premium Package. The introduction of the 2010 MR-Touring moved the car even further upscale. Leather and a Moonroof became standard while revising the rear spoiler to just a lip spoiler.
I was saving up to buy my evo x but when the virus hit the USA and everything went down i lost my job and i was forced to used my savings to survive the first quarantine now all my savings are gone i am working thankfully but i barely made money to pay my bills and food hope everything ends soon and everything goes to normal that way i can save up again to buy this car one day
Estelio Konto it will come that day when you get your dream carr..best of luck for you !...
damn USA doesen't have any kind of social service that gives money in these tough times? I hope you will get that evo on your garage someday!
Im in the same boat, started my small business couple years ago and it went smooth till covid hit and everything went down hill.. had enough save up for a house and a evo x, my dream car! Sadly i had to use %80 of my savings to keep my business alive.. im afraid that i cannot avoid the inevitable in the few months.
Ive loved this car since highschool (evo ix)... got my first evo 2 years ago. 2015 Evo X gsr. Cannot be more in love. You MUST experience the car you've been wanting forever because it will NOT disappoint when it's in your driveway. I still do double takes at my car when I'm walking away from it...sexy af. Keep at it man, pandemic hit hard, market will crash again, then buy up all those discount stocks and continue the path to be a proud evo owner! They ain't making anymore, the legacy will die with us!
What a downer. 🙄
One of the things people also don't realize about the 4G63, is that it's an incredibly old engine Mitsubishi had been using for 26 years back in 2007. This is an engine they designed and built for Group 4 rally and then beefed up over the years. There's no doubt they decided they can make a better lighter engine for the Lancer Evolution X
What an underrated channel, your stuff is really interesting! keep up the good work mate!
I've learned so much from this channel✌🏾😎✌🏾.It definitely is underrated
Anybody knows the title of background music?
Shut up mate
I dont mean to be so off topic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Elias Torin Instablaster ;)
The best Evo X review I’ve ever watched. And I’ve watched a LOT. Cheers from an Evo X owner/fan from Lima,Perú
Do you have real Evo ? Because most lancer owners in Perú things they have an evo but its a basic lancer with evo badge ...
Just bought my EVO X about 2 weeks ago, before that I’d be playing this video for months. Thank you for motivating me to work hard man, being able to actually drive it feels like heaven!
I’ve owned an Evo 8 and now an Evo X GSR. I am really loving the X and it’s more modern features. Too bad so many 4G63 Evo die hards never got it. Thanks for the review, just fantastic!
I am in my 50s. I am a collector of Hondas. Eg6, ek9, dc5r...and one day...I purchased a 2008 lancer EX ( CVT) as a daily...and driving it was great...lt felt solid, stable and the thought occured to me that I should try the Evo X. As luck would have it, I snagged a Evo X Final Edition with a heavy discount from the dealer. And I started selling all my Hondas in my collection. Omg, the driving of an Evo X is indescribable. It goes where you point it to...Since JDM Masters revealed that the AWD system runs using Canbus, I am beginning to appreciate the Evo X's instantaneous response ...and understand now why the Evo X's exceptional handling is so underrated.
Well Evo X doesnt has 4G63, so.
@@MethmalDhananjaya no one gives a shit about the 4G63. 4B11 takes mods better and anything over 500hp you would need support mods for both. 🤷🏻
Bring up blow by to the 4g63t boys and hear em cry
and evos 8/9 are still more vauable then x's
When he said in depth review, he actually meant it lol.
Damn!!! Hour long content!!!!! Wooot!!!! Time to strap in!!!
Yeah! Actually their current longest content right??
Considering the quality and detailed-ness of this review, I'm surprised that this channel has not blown up yet.
The design of the evo x is the king
And this just further cements the Evo X as my favorite Evo. The amount of work, thought, and engineering behind is just damn.
Had my evo x now for 5 years and love it just the same as the day I bought it . Great video for a great car nice one
Been saving for one I have been wanting one for years I currently have is350 08
@James genuinly curious, why did you keep it for 8 years?
This is exactly my one and only dream car!!! It's legendary heritage is what i'm all in for.
This is probably the most in-depth review on the Evo X, I'd love to see you do another one of these for the older ones some day!
I truly believe the Evo X was made to be the most sophisticated and more of a daily driver than any Evo made. All Evos before it were really raw out of the box. The Evo X may have been different than all evos before it but it was literally the latest evolution of all evos before it
They hated Automatic Evo while GTR R35 also have dual clutch but they didnt hate the GTR? hmmm...I dont care what the social says. We care what our hearts say. Underrated video, Underrated Car. Gotta agree for me evo x is my best option if im looking for a evo for jack of all trades
Your channel is top of my list of English speaking JDM channels. Best regards from Bulgaria!
Thank you for your continued effort! This is some of the best automotive content on KZhead!
I have a 2014 evo X. I dont drive it much but after seeing this i will be using her today for sure! keep it up!
This is by far the best Evo X review I have ever watched my entire life.
Great video, very detailed. Evo X design was just so next level and still holds up great as you said.
Ok thank you ver much @jdmmaster I've been waiting for this thank you for hearing my request really apreciate it😁🙂☺
Thank you!Thank you to the owner too,for allowing his awesome car to be reviewed. This was all very well put together, and all the aspects of the vehicle explained clearly.I've watched other 'reviews'and they really didn't explain the different systems, and materials at all.
The Evo X is a great looking car in its own right. It’s design was amazing for 2007. And even if it doesn’t have the 4g63 the 4b11 is still a great engine and it’s cool that Mitsubishi was trying something new.
you can just get normal lancer for cheap... look the same...
campkira it’s not about the looks though the performance differences between the two are huge
@@campkira Ricers only care about look
The newer engine made more power from mods than the previous engines
Bro your channel is AMAZING, i learn so much about Japanese cars by watching you go in detail about them.
thank you for the great video. as an owner of EVO X SST, I really proud of what I have and will continue to use the car.
This video helped me a lot to understand the Evo X and I just got mine this month. It's silver and I live in Japan as well! Thanks a lot JDM Masters!
wow, im early, but keep up the great vids, you can really see the effort you put in
i have a manual lancer today, but im ready to get evo now, love that car so much. Thanks for the content
the quality of this channel is superb. You are a true car enthusiast, sir. Thank you for the content. edit: i have to say as well, great camera work.
I'm from Portugal and I have an Evo X for about 3 years. It's a fantastic car! Great review, I loved hearing everything in detail from start to finish. Keep going with the channel!
Brilliant, I always look forward to your reviews and interpretation on jdm cars and culture. Great passion from yourself too thanks 😊 👍
Damn,i can smell the old book scent just by watching you flip that book
HyperRev
Buying an Evo was always a goal of mine and when it came time to buy one, I ended up getting an Evo X. I still do love the way the 8 & 9 look over the X by a bit but the more up to date interior and technology is something that persuaded me for long term.
Man... I keep bouncing from Evo X to Rx7 to 370z nismo to 2003 svt cobra to 1st gen NSX
@@ndreyah1160 I used to own a 370z and I’ve owned two X’s. Evo wins hands down. Loved my Z but it’s just not on the same level.
The Evolution X FQ400 produced by Mitsubishi UK was my favorite version of this car.
Too bad I'll never own one :(
@@gorgeousnova2304 😔
@@gorgeousnova2304 it's easy to spec out on exactly the same though. There is a company in the UK that still sells the original body parts that are pressed from the same molds Mitsu UK used.
@@stephen9944 wow and what's the Name of this company?
They did a 440 version as well.
Been looking into getting one I've been playing evo videos in the background while searching local listings and I had to stop what I was doing and pay attention to your video. Love the depth you go into I wish every car video was like this. Those magazines are awesome I'd love to find an equivalent in english.
This channel is a real gem. Love your work! Thanks for all the insights.
One of the best reviews of lancer evolution I have ever seen, Good job mate
3:24 I saw tommi makinen edition evo 6 in Hong Kong car meet three years ago
I saw one across my workplace here in Manila, whether or not that was a replica I cannot tell exactly as it even had Momo steering wheel.
Been looking forward to your review on the Evo X. As always you never disappoint! Such an amazing car and review :) super underated channel. This video only makes me more excited to buy my Evo X this next year :)
Exia_DC5 find your on KZhead haha
This dude made his homework ,good vid ! Evo its one of the best road sport carr ....
Big fan of your channel/content. I love how you always reference the JDM catalogs/magazines and highlight the engineering in your super detailed reviews. Please do an in-depth review of the FK8 Civic Type R!
You always pick some really nice spots for your videos
Wow found this channel. Amazing! Pick up my Evo X GSR SST in 2 weeks. Absolutely well happy
In every video games that have Evo X in it , i will work my way up to obtain this car and used it until i beat the game
Wow what a great video, subbed! Looking forward to more quality content 👍🏼
Yes! i saw this picture on instagram and couldn't wait for the video :D
Best reviews I’ve ever seen. You are next level my friend
Really nice to see the untold features of the Evo X. I always knew it's really capable but never knew how it made all that happen. Excellent video! On the top of that, I would SO KUCH like to see a review of an SXE10 Altezza RS200 on JDM Masters. Really an underdog with the best version of the Toyota 3S engine ever.
You’re too good at this. I love the channel and enthusiasm mahn👌🏽🔥🔥🔥
Watching this video makes me want to drive mine. Thank you for the hard work on this review
I really love these video's on a Sunday morning with coffee Somebody from my street imported the Lancer X base model and it looks stunning! I once drove behind him in my 6th gen Accord EX and couldn't keep up with its 0-70km
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO !!!!! Please keep showing mitsubishi things...hopefully they will bring back the EVO :-D Best Evo X Video I have seen !!! Greetings from Germany
awesome video guys. watched the whole thing. love my evo.
Love your channel mate 🇦🇺 👋 keep it going it’s nice to watch after a hard day at work & come home 🏡 to your channel 📱 respect 🤜🏻🤛🏻
A great detailed video as always, love your work 👍
Wow... I just discovered this channel. I love your style and attention to detail. 😎
I had an EVO X, but then our third kid turned out to be twins so I had to move to a minivan. It was my favorite car. I previously had a 1998 Impreza 2.5RS, 2003 350Z, then a 2008 EVO X GSR. A lot of people dislike the AYC, but I liked it. It wasn't reactive like all the rest of the driver-aids when it came out, it was indeed active and easy to predict and use.
Thank you so much for an awesome video. Just bought one recently. I found the car perfect except the bulky weight. Would love to see more about JDM parts on this car
Great review as usual! Please keep going to release more of that kind of content. I really like your efforts of information research and visualize the important details. I would like to see reviews of Civic Type R EK9 / Civic SiR EK4, NSX NA1 / NA2, Integra DC2 / DC5, and Pulsar Gti-R in the future. Cant wait for your next video!
Awesome review! I used to have the SST version when it first came out and it just wasn't for me. Ended up trading it in for the 5 speed and it was love. Mine still lives in my garage and comes out once a year. Fantastic car in the corners!
Love your videos man, you deserve more subscribers! I've owned a Evo X since 2008 and learned a few things from this video 👍 I also own that magazine but could never read the Kanji lol
You can use your mobile phone with google translator to read the kanji ;-)
love when you do these car review's....very detailed.
Love this Captain, keep the reviews & museum visits coming!
I definitely love this video, and all honesty u helped me learn more about my car. I have a 2015 evo x ..
I love this channel, great video guys🔥❤
This is so good Bradford-san. An hour movie for weekend night 👍
I agree, the X is the best Evo. Not only that, the X is the best sedan ever made.
Top notch video. 10/10 great info great review great job
The best channel for JDM content!
Love the content! Well done, my friend.
The only car review where the camera man makes live adjustments to the host and it still seems perfectly normal. I love these though. Funny and crazy informative. Let's get some Starlet and Pulsar reviews in there!
Great video, thanks! What a great book....is there an English version available? I loved my Evo 10 which I kept as a trackday car. The faster I went the better it was! It was pretty obvious that Mitsubishi spent its money on the mechanical and go fast bits. The interior left a lot to be desired, but the performance was amazing, The people who bought them weren't too worried about the interior!
Very professional with alot of informative content good work
Im watching this right after the evo 1 review and it's just nice to see you not freezing to death on this one hahah love the channel
Thank you for this. Still my attainable dream car!
Thank you for the deep dive! For everyone who is interested in the statement at 12:49 about the shown image: It's called (my knowledge from body in white development work) "zebra line analysis" or "surface continuity analysis" - just in case you want to look it up and teach yourself.
I cant wait to see you guys review a GTO VR4 Twin Turbo ;)
Loved your videos, especially the in-depth presentation. It would be great if you guys consider doing videos on JDM motorcycles too.
You got some great weather for a review for once 😂😂 excellent 👌🏼 great breakdown of the evo x, one of the comfiest fast cars I’ve owned ha mine was in that colour too. 😉
This is the best video of an enthusiast car I’ve seen on the internet. Everything was covered from head to toe. This video got me hyped up to buy an Evo again. God I really miss my Evo X, regret selling it.
Awesome work man! Great info and very cool person doing it (:
Superb content!!! I would love to watch this in-depth review of a 1990s NSX Best Japanese channel right now!
Idk what is it, maybe because it’s my dream car but you made me watch an hour video without getting tired of it, great work, definitely underrated channel
Awesome video as always!
Mitsubishi Lancer never forget my dream car and hobbies 🇵🇭
LanEvo 6 is the best Evo I've ever seen. But the Evo 8 is the best Evo I've ever driven. Didn't have a chance to drive the LanEvo 9 and 10 yet but I'm sure they're powerful and handle well.
The only things to evo x is Fat and got no the heart of evo
@Vibe maybe evo x only got some great looks when they modified it
@@ZYBIGBOIII have you ever driven one?
@Vibe Evo X is slower than Evo 9 on a racetrack
@@rhyspasaol7596 no why?
The cars and the scenery on display in these videos are both truly beautiful.
Keep up the great work !!
The ONLY time that I ever truly thought a horrible crash was imminent in my Evo X was in a winter monsoon in the North Carolina mountains.....pouring rain, near freezing temperatures, cold asphalt, steep incline with very short apex dropping into a severe right hand curve.....at over 100 mph. Evo's S.A.W.D. definitely saved the day! Had I been in the 09 M3, I probably wouldn't be telling this story. Great video!
Julien is becoming famous!!!! Good job guys! Always interesting!
Waoh, absolutely amazing content, no wonder I don't watch regular tv anymore Thanks you Sir
Subscribed! STI owner from the USA. Cheers. Also, love the books you always have!
Very detail walk around. Good job
I'm a paraplegic who's been on the hunt for a Track car I can be competitive with in Time Attack and Wheel to Wheel racing. But it is tough finding an Automatic or Semi-Auto vehicle that is realistically affordable. But these have really caught my eye. I have always been an EVO fan in general. That SST trans really perked my ears right up. It will take me a long time to save up, but this is my new realistic dream car. I hope there are some nice ones left by the time I can save up 25k.
Stay away from DCT Evo X they’re fragile boxes you need to drive them like a manual meaning you go neutral when coming to a complete stop
@@manhattanskyline4526 no u dont lol, ive had mine for 3 years no transmission issues and i drive it in auto mode
Evo has been my dream car for sooo long! I finally was able to buy one! I'm in love. Mine makes around 450whp right now & I can't wait to put the work in to make it my true dream beast😊
This video made me subscribe to your channel. I have a evo x 2013, and I love your review. Thank you so much.
Great video, enjoyed it very much. Evo forever!
The X gets never old
Thanks god for a true enthusiast channel like this (No clickbait kind of s..t). Keep it up!
