PC Music is fucking genius. I love how it's almost like guerilla marketing in the way it sorta slipped into pop culture (McDonalds ads, Charli XCX co-opting SOPHIE, etc). It was never meant to be obscure. It's totally completed its objective.

Right, and the Velvet Underground is the same as generic radio rock. PC Music was founded by a bunch of art school kids. There's quite obviously a tinge of postmodernism throughout their entire catalogue. The visual side of their branding is even more obvious. Like, this song is literally a commercial for a nonexistent energy drink--and the singer is the mascot. Look a lil harder buddy

@@monkeydood916 Hyperpop in general - I agree. But this particular track has this post-modern, absurd pseudo-corporate esthetic so I will stand with my point. The "soullessnes" in this particular track seems intentional to me and it's not a downside.

The most daring choice in this whole song might be the complete absence of reverb on the vocals while the instrumentation is lowered in the mix in the verses. It makes it feel almost uncomfortably intimate in the little quiet spot right after she sings, "I've been thinking 'bout you quite a lot". I feel guilty for not even knowing who she is - which, knowing the late, great SOPHIE, was completely intentional. Rest In Peace.

Everyone who thinks this video is an ironic complaint about advertising and product development is WRONG. There is not a single clue to let us know that, not even in the song. It’s all in your imagination. In fact it is the opposite: a praise of the art of distilling someone’s personality into a product in an extremely polished way. It’s an appreciation of the talent of designers, artists and any other creative involved in the process, despite the exploitation that the industry makes of it.

I read a story about a young girl in Soviet Russia who was abducted by the Nazis. They performed horrific operations, draining her spinal and cerebral fluids and keeping the resultant purple liquid in specially marked cans. Other operations were performed on her vocal cords, giving her the voice of a five year old. She escaped along with two other people, two males you see in the music video, having somehow developed a rudimentary type of teleportation whereby her cells vibrated on a different frequency to particular solid objects, allowing the three to walk through walls, in theory. It seems this was the result of a hyperawareness brought about by the barbaric experiments. QT, or Quantum Tunnelling, is an unusual phenomena, but scientifically possible given the right conditions. The three were never found, although I believe they were captured by the CIA and trapped in bright white rooms and pink PVC chambers to perform vapid pop music in the 1970's that was to be released in the spring of 2016.

Sugary + infectious - like a mix between 2000s pop, old DDR music, and video game soundtracks. PC Music is becoming a guilty pleasure of mine.
My personal favourite is GFOTY. This article describes her perfectly: www.timeout.com/london/music/pc-music-a-beginners-guide
It's really great stuff!
PC Music is fucking genius. I love how it's almost like guerilla marketing in the way it sorta slipped into pop culture (McDonalds ads, Charli XCX co-opting SOPHIE, etc). It was never meant to be obscure. It's totally completed its objective.
what McDonalds ad do you mean?
McDonalds' Lemonade ad. Should come up if you search it on YT.
Dezrt and Carly Rae Jepsen has done a song with Danny L Harle as well
It's not 'pretending' to be anything, though there are some satirical aspects.
RIP Sophie. This is the song that made me discover PC music and fall in love with it. I'm so thankful for your amazing and extraordinary influence in music and in my life. You'll be missed so much.

Mac baby, if I’m right this song was produced by SOPHIE. I recommend her, she’s really interesting and a guilty pleasure for sure 👌🏻
It has infinite potential for vaporwave samples. It is the most soulless pice of music ever produced. I love it.
That's PC music for you, it's basically post-modern art but for pop music
it might be soulless and overproduced and ridiculous but this is a proper bop
Soulless? I think this music has the most personality out of anything coming out today. The feminization of trans voices in hyperpop is exploration of a life beyond their gender dysphoria. Is that soulless to you?
@@monkeydood916 Hyperpop in general - I agree. But this particular track has this post-modern, absurd pseudo-corporate esthetic so I will stand with my point. The "soullessnes" in this particular track seems intentional to me and it's not a downside.
@@Montcalf091 I feel that, I see what you mean by that, QT was ahead of its time no doubt
Does anyone know the nutritional facts for the QT energy drink? I'm thinking of replacing my bloodstream with its divine particles

It's pure O+ blood so you should be fine if there aren't any problems with the nanobots this time.
Idk if it’s because I’m completely desensitized to hyperpop but this doesn’t sound soulless to me at all...
same
I think people say it’s soulless because of the visuals, but the song itself is bouncy, glossy, and full of energy and life. I still love the music video too, btw.
Because Sophie had a soul and she put her soul into all of her projects

@@alertafayermonki Really?! What is it called? Is it on Spotify? 😀
