MASSIVE Queen Snappers and a Giant Hammerhead

In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing for massive queen snapper in the Florida Keys with Captain Dave Jones from Munsters Fishing. We used squid for bait on a chicken rig and dropped the rig down over 800ft! The first queen snapper that we caught was the biggest that I've ever seen! I seriously didn't know they grew this big!

  • What’s the point of a electric reel for recreational fishing? Seems like it takes the fun out of the sport.

    • 100% takes the fun out of it - but its definitely about money lol more fish caught at a higher rate cause of it

      @jl9470@jl94703 жыл бұрын
    • Cause, it's how fish the could be (and how much it weighs ofc) and if you caught a rare fish you wouldn't want to lose it correct?

      @emmasmith5664@emmasmith56643 жыл бұрын
    • @falsehashtags i’m with you I get that it’s about catching the most fish the fastest but I think part of appreciating recreational fishing is the fight, if they were doing this for food I think my view would be different.

      @davewilson2641@davewilson26413 жыл бұрын
    • @@davewilson2641 Kind of difficult to fight a dead fish. It gets a version of the bends when it starts to ascend to the surface, so electric reel or not, at that point you are reeling in basically a heavy rock. Take swordfish for instance, you are basically fighting a fish that can swim at 34kn in 1000+ feet of water. At that point you need buoy rods and/or other different equipment.

      @jamesmastroianni6965@jamesmastroianni69653 жыл бұрын
    • @@jamesmastroianni6965 like i was saying after the first 100 feet or so the fish gets the bends anyways and starts spinning up doesn’t really fight anymore so theres just no real point in killing yourself trying to keep up with a floating fish, im not saying it cant be done just not practical Usually when people are deep dropping they are just trying to fill the cooler and once they do you can change it up and fish for pelagics on normal rod and reel such as dolphin wahoo tuna etc.

  • Fun fact for you guys. A professor asked us during a class why are some predator fish so red. Wouldnt it be better to be simply blue of dark green to be spotted less. Well matter of fact is out of all the colors from the spectra water absorbs the red best. So after a few meters of depth these fish become invisible almost.

Because they're the ones that lay the most eggs an tog take a long time to get mature and live up to 55 years. But just for it to get to the size ur allowed to take them is about 15-20 years an thats only 15-16 inches and then a fish that are over 10 pounds are easy 30-35 years old which is nuts to think about because that would mean that fish was alive in early 90s an some before that.
