  • Great video! Will this process produce any optical distortions in the windshield? Just want to check from visibility stand point. Thanks!

    • Pitting can be fixed with clear window epoxy, a lot of window guys can do it for a reasonable price. It's just like a small crack repair, just smaller.

  • Is their a way to do this without the tool?

    @joshcatalano5127@joshcatalano51273 жыл бұрын
    • Hey Josh, we're unaware of any way to do this without the tool. It's the combination of heat, friction, and compound that accomplishes distortion-free scratch removal. Be careful of cheap systems that claim to be distortion-free yet use abrasives, it could cause more damage.

  • I recently called a company that polishes glass or places new glasses. I told about my scratch (which was applied by a windscreen wiper mechanisme) he told me that it is quite likely that it is too deep and that if they go out of sanding and polishing , I will have an odd window sight.

    @wellezrobin@wellezrobin4 жыл бұрын
    • They didn't finish the job.. most likely used only cutting compound so it left micro scratches which is the haze u speak of.. you have to atleast finish with polish. This system uses polish the whole time but it's a polish designed for high rpm.. to match the high rpm tool. But you can use regular polish and turn the buffer all the way up and just water down the polish slightly... it's harder but for 1500 dollars compared to 200... yea I think a little more work is worth it. Atleast for the average Joe.

  • I’d only do this for very light scratches from ice scrapers and aruff

    @joshuathomas4934@joshuathomas4934 Жыл бұрын
    • The one-step technique was designed to remove light to medium scratches, including wiper scratches. So even if you can feel it with your fingernail, with the right technique of working in sections (shown in the video) it should be able to be removed.

    • For a windshield wiper scratch you are willing to pay $1500-$3000. My dealership quoted me 2700 for my Maserati windshield, and. while I would pay It if It wasn't repairable I chose to get It repaired. For less expensive under 1k then sure no worries change It.

    • As some replies have already said, if you're looking at high end vehicles / classics then you'd be looking at a lot of money for a replacement. Also, with some rarer classics you simply can't get one! My Dad has a rare '60s car with a wiper scratch on the windscreen and even the owner's club can't get replacement windscreens.

      @MagnusMaximusinWales@MagnusMaximusinWales3 жыл бұрын
  • So, there aren't many vehicles out there that would make this process worth it, especially since there is comprehensive insurance that would probably cover windshield replacement for about a $100 deductible to the customer. Most vehicles with an $1800 windshield would more than likely have this coverage, so buying this kit would be like pissing into the wind if you think you'll make money using it ....

    @Phil454LSX@Phil454LSX3 жыл бұрын
    • Hey Phil, there's many benefits to glass scratch removal, and it goes beyond the cost. Many techs use scratch removal to prevent having to wait on replacement glass, which is timely and costly. Other techs who work on flat glass prefer not to replace when possible. Every market and every technician is different, but we believe it's important to offer techs options. We hope this helps!

    • @@glasweld I've had a couple of windshields replaced over my 63 years and even on the old ones that don't require calibration, and they never quite fit right. The entire gasket has to be removed and a new one re-glued in place, etc. It wasn't for scratches, but personally I would avoid replacing a windshield at all costs. I've got a 2018 Mazda c5 with tiny seed pits in it and I'd love to replace the windshield, but it ain't worth it.

  • Why not just make the shield longer and the shape of a scratch swipe ... Seems like a waste of time doing a small section ...

    @1silvervespa@1silvervespa3 жыл бұрын
    • If that works better for someone, they are welcome to try it! But in the end, you may end up spending more time polishing an area that doesn't have a scratch if your target area is too big. The guard comes in that shape to work on a variety of scratch repairs, not just on windshield wiper scratches.

  • i wanna see you do a video on the scion xb. its notorious for having, what seems, like thousands of extremely small pits...literally the size of grains of sand..All over the entire windshield, i have YET to see anyone tackle this in a video you would be the first if you did it and trust me i have been looking for WEEKS on here NO ONE has a video on it. everyone just has wiper bullshit. no offense lol. but no one ever tackles the real problem. not chips, but PITS...th0usands of them the size of sand grains. you up for the challenge?
