Rishi Sunak has pledged to increase defence spending to 2.5 percent of GDP by 2030.

On a trip to Poland, the prime minister said the extra billions will put Britain's defence industry "on a war footing" - and Nato members cannot expect the US alone to foot the bill for defending the West.
He also announced an extra half a billion pounds of military aid for Ukraine - as well as boats, vehicles, missiles and ammunition.

You have to understand that this is a political choice. Not helping those who are struggling in this country is government policy, and has been for the past 14 years. Look at the money they wasted on PPE - tens of billions funnelled out their their chums. Look at the money they are wasting on sending refugees to Rwanda. £500 million is nothing.

£500m for a war that isn't our but leave the elderly to starve and freeze, the homeless to starve and freeze, the NHS is struggling, people can't get a dentist, roads riddled with potholes, veterans left to rot on the streets, etc etc etc. It is beyond time we looked after our own people for a change!

He has recently sent £1.5 billion to Ukraine 🇺🇦, in addition to previous amounts. It is unacceptable to send money to a country that has no guarantee of survival or victory, especially while you are cutting benefits for disabled people. Almost everything in UK is behind compared to other European countries, housing, airports, healthcare, roads, Law Enforcement, right down to the water pressure in the house. Germany's law enforcement took down a coup, Belgium's healthcare ranks 3rd in the world, France has arguably the best water supply in the world, Italy has on average some of the longest living people in the world with a blue zone in their country. Norway's prison system is great too, meanwhile England still hires surgeons and GP's from Europe even though they left the EU. Their own government doesn't play by its own rules, Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock during the pandemic are prime examples. Their healthcare service is collapsing, their teachers and ambulance workers are striking too. How far has the "5th richest country on Earth" fallen.
