  • I also love love love the line “hope you know how proud i am you were created WITH THE COURAGE TO UNLEARN ALL OF THEIR HATRED” - the stories she cited about peers who have had hard childhoods, and really for ANYONE who is listening to that song & relate to those stories - for her to say that line & feel like that’s for you is so validating & empowering & it makes you feel seen. It’s such a great way to end the album because the entire time she’s obviously talking about herself but at the end she’s talking to the listener.

  • 'favorite crime' is our Favorite song of hers, 'hope ur ok' is very powerful song with a message of hope that some/many kids don't get from their own families. For the LGBTQ+ this song will hit really hard, because they have lived it. This Toxic family life and the words to song are uplifting, especially "and made a royal flush" has nothing to do with cards, it's taking that toxicity and flushing down the toilet. We now know no matter what that Olivia Rodrigo is Proud you are created and hopes you are okay. 🎶💜🎶🤗

  • 33:02 So she did the same thing at the end of the last song, Teenage Dream, on Guts as well. It's Olivia and her producer Dan talking. This is what is said. Olivia: I just feel like it’s the piano all the time. Dan: Isn’t that cool? Olivia: No. Dan: Do you feel like it would be a little bit better, like the song- Olivia: I don't know. (Laughing) There's something wrong with the record. Dan: There is something wrong with the record. Olivia: There's something- everything’s wrong with the record. Dan: Everything’s- let's start over again. Olivia: Let's start over.

    • Reminds me of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon where the first song starts with a voice speaking mid-sentence. That same voice ends the album on the last song of side 2 and it turns out that he starts the sentence on the last song and finishes saying it on the first song. You can loop the album and it feels like it's never ending. With digital players today, it can be looped instantly. But Pink Floyd did that back when physical media was more manual and clunky. I always thought that was cool. It would've been really cool if Olivia's album started with her saying "start over" of the "Let's start over" and the album ends with her saying the "Let's " part of that sentence.

  • I've really been loving your Olivia reactions. You put so much thought and consideration into each song meaning. It's such a testament to her as an artist that people of so many ages (I'm 39) love and relate to her music. She is amazing at bringing you back to those universal feelings of heartbreak and all the nuanced emotions. While the album has a lot of songs about a breakup, each song deals with a slightly different emotion or feeling you can have on the rollercoaster of heartbreak.

Also favorite crime has another meaning when you know that the guy she was rumored to be with was an adult and she was a minor at the time.

  • Olivia has been taking singing lessons since she was 4 or 5 and has competed in singing competitions (there are a bunch of clips online). Somewhere down the line I believe her singing coach recommended that she try acting bc it would help bring more emotion into her singing. I think she got a few commercials and then landed the lead in an American girl doll movie. From there she guest starred on shows like New Girl, then got her own show on Disney called Bizardvark and then she got cast on HSMTMTS where she also wrote a few songs for the show. All I want is what first got her name out there before drivers license. Her singing at such a young age in the competitions is insane and really shows how much vocal control she has now as an artist.

Guts is great, so is Sour - cannot pick between the two. I agree with some of the comments on here that Hope u r ok is an underrated song and I think it is her best song. Lyrically there are so many good lines and it hits emotionally. Looked like Audrey was tearing up listening to it too. Well done for 500+ subscribers - refreshing new channel this - thanks. Maybe Billie Eilish next on the album front - both her debut (When we fall asleep ...) which I think is one of the best albums of all time, and her second one was pretty darn good too. Maybe also do some older albums that your daughters have not heard - something like Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life .........

  • 12:14 man can't believe how spot on that comment is regarding how the person that the song was talking about didn't recognize his own value and self worth. The song was rumored to be about certain man that she broke up with because they are not fit together and the man afterward dated another girl after they broke up. But the man also broke up with that girl recently after that. And the following month after this album was released, the man come out as part of the LGBTQ+ community and say now that he feel liberated since he always feel like he is cooped up, not being able to be himself in an interview. I will not mention who that man is since the drama has passed but I am sure most people know already.

But when She said "His parents cared more about the bible than being good to their own child he wore long sleeves cause of his dad" that's very rare to happen to a Straight Person. So In that side of things She was talking about Lgbtq. as For "Her parents hated who she loved" it sounds like that person was loving either another Girl or a Black Guy. Meaning those girl's parents are either racist or Homophobic. So i think that's really what Hope ur okay is about.

  • I hate to shatter your world, but she is the farthest thing from legitimate. She used her first album to bash an ex, whom she not only left but also was cheating on. This new album continues to not only drag his name but a few others through the dirt, which is the opposite of what any artist needs to be doing in this world right now. There are creative ways to write about past relationships and then leave them be, like Taylor Swift does. Miss Rodrigo’s immaturity not only in life, but in the industry has hindered her ability to do a few major important things. Like letting someone, someone that she left, go. Her immaturity continued to shine as her fans completely bashed her ex, for months on end, online. Did she at any point say, stop? Nope. He just took all the negativity and didn’t respond, and eventually it ended up causing his heart to go into septic shock. He is lucky to be alive today. He also has made it clear, multiple times, that we (his fan base) are not to do what her fan base did to him. Which made a lot of us laugh, because we would never dream of attacking anyone like that, ever. She never apologize, she still hasn’t told her fans to back off. That is pure immaturity. So, I’m sorry, but I can’t believe a word that she says anymore. I do genuinely wish her the best in her life and with her career. I just thought you should know if you are looking for genuine, you are looking at the wrong person. Oh, and Hollywood Records dropped her after the 1st album- her sincerity was “problematic”. Anyways, stay well.

    • You bring a different perspective that I didn't have. I literally did no research on her and just listened to the music. Her voice is legit. The songcraft and production are legit. The lyrics tackle timeless breakup themes. On the face of it, I enjoyed the music. A while ago, I asked a group of friends if they ever have trouble watching an actor's movies or listening to an artist's music after learning that the person is problematic (a broad term). There was the comment that if someone really did that we'd have very little to watch and listen to. We all seemed to agree that it's harder to keep watching an actor than it is to listen to good music from a problematic artist. Mostly, I try to avoid all the drama and just enjoy the tunes. I totally respect people who choose to no longer follow an artist or actor for whatever reason.

    • @@MusicDadReactsThank you so much for responding. Yeah I also am not at all involved and don’t get involved with any of the drama, doing that is a waste of time. I am just very aware of this particular situation, and how she was thrust into fame from a single that was very well written but ended up causing physical problems for her ex. I have always believed there are 3 stories, his, hers, and the truth. It is just, to me at least, extremely tragic to watch a young girl write songs that make it appear that she is heartbroken, even call the other person a sociopath and then to find out that none of the events she spoke of even occurred, it is just wild. I guess i’ll just suggest this, after he healed in the hospital, her ex wrote his own music, he has been an artist a lot longer, he released the songs as a trio and it is important to hear all 3. So if you get the chance just listen to them (Joshua Bassett- Crisis, Secret, Set Me Free) I don’t know, I guess I just prefer an artist that I’d feel comfortable leaving my dog with. 😂 I’d leave him with Kelly Clarkson or P!nk and they both have heartbreaking songs as well.
