    • Your right, I thought so before when I first watched it. This time I put it on slow motion and it looked to me like Prandini got the baton a fraction behind Shelly Ann and was about a step and a half in front of her when she handed off. Abby and Prandini's handoff was also excellent as was the Prandini to Terry--much better than the Jamaicans.

    • Back in the day, in the days after this race, I analyzed the race. Re-playing it over and over again and measuring the runners position on the track. Every woman's performance was critical for the win. But the number one and the real reason USA won, was Melissa Jefferson's lead leg. That is where Jamaica lost, on the first leg. I would also want to say that, according to me, the official split timings do not relevantly reflect what exactly happened in the race. I don't know how the timing is done, where the split is, but in terms of track position during the running, both Steiner and Prandini did better against their Jamaican opponents than the split timings would suggest. Finally, I think the Jamaican coach is the one most responsible for Jamaica's defeat. In terms of individual 100m performance, that really only counts on the first leg. He put Jamaica's slowest 100m runner against USA's best (for the day), and there is where this race is lost. Then there is nothing much the other runners can do against the speed with running start of Steiner and Prandini. Why would you imagine they could? Jackson is wasted on the anchor. I don't really understand it. Was this running order due to some concerns about handovers? Or was it just arrogance and a desire to give Jackson the finishing line?

      @Vermiliontea@Vermiliontea10 ай бұрын
    • Jefferson and Steiner both won their legs.. probably lost a 10th or 2 with the bad handoff from Jefferson to Steiner. Steiner stomped a hole in Leg 2... she had a faster split than Thompson-Herra.

      @TenGreenRangers@TenGreenRangers10 ай бұрын
    • @@Vermiliontea Jefferson 11.35 split .. fastest of Leg 1 .. nearest competitor was 11.45. Steiner 9.86 split.. fastest of Leg 2, out ran Thompson-Herra (10.10 split) .. Prandini got the stick with a .3 lead and ran a killer curve at 10.01. TT Terry finished up with a 9.89. Had Jefferson made a better handoff to Steiner .. maybe 1 or 2 tenths faster. Be that as it may.. Jefferson and Steiner crushed their legs and got the US .3 tenths ahead.

Extraordinary 4x100 relays; KUDOS for both teams. The US victory was deserved and legit; but, though the Jamaicans race was not bad, it wasn't very good either. This Jamaican female team has such potential, that if they had run a really good and faultless/impeccable relay, they could have won running under 41 seconds easily (below 40'50, I would dare to say); only that for whatever the reasons, they didn't... KUDOS also for the very good race and bronze medal of the German team... And KUDOS also for Nigeria and Spain that finished 4th and 5th... Both girls teams, Nigerians and Spaniards bested the National Records...

    • Reason it was the fastest is because she was in full flight by the time her 100m zone started due to the injury to Dina. Just like the second 100m in a 200m is often faster than the first due to not having to start from a standstill.

  • I see a lot of people talking about the Prandini leg, but luckily official splits are released to avoid confusions like this. I don't want to take anything away from her as she ran an amazing split still. Prandini ran her split in 10.05, and Shelly ran hers in 9.97. US was already well in the lead by that point by MJ running her split in 11.35 and Abby running a quick 9.86 compared to Nelson running 11.45 and Thompson running 10.10 respectively.

  • You have to play this race at 0.25 speed and watch where their feet are with regards to the stagger lines on the track. Going into the last exchange the Americans are ahead by about 2 meters. Coming out of the exchange TT Terry accelerates really fast and is about 3m ahead. Sherika Jackson can't quite catch her. The American coaches put the right people in the right roles and the exchanges were really good.
