Video actually made me sad, I worked at an AMC/Jeep, Pontiac and Cadillac dealership in the late 70s and your shop reminded me of the showroom and car lots of the dealer! CJs were just as hot as Trans Ams in those days so they sold a lot of CJs! spent days working with Jeeps, gassing up, prepping new Jeeps, washing and moving them around, etc. Really miss that old place after these 40+ years. I bought a 2-year-old '77 CJ7 from them with the 304, 3 speed, the heavy-duty suspension package (trailering package-extra leaf springs, thicker radiator and heavy-duty alternator) Hardtop and the 60/40 bench seat! Loved that seat, we four wheeled with 5 on board all the time and it was great with your sweetheart snugged up beside you straddling the shifter. Wish I had the 60/40 seat in my current '80 CJ7 Renegade but I had found a set of N.O.S. bucket seats and back seat new online for it instead as I restored it back to week one condition. I still had my original bikini top, saddle bags and SuperJeep spare tire cover from my'77 and added them to the current '80. Love your video and channel.
Thank you for watching and sharing. I love reading about other people's experiences.
Good video! I drove a Jeep when I was in the army from 70 to 72. Then I had a 79 silver anniversary Jeep Renegade with a 304V8 with headers. Then I had a brand new 2002 yellow jeep CJ7. I miss all of them😢
2002 cj7?
I had my 79 CJ5 (built 304, T-150, Dana 44 rear) for 25 years. I loved that thing and you're 100% correct, it would and could get away from you real easy! Mine had factory tilt, dash pad, pwr brakes and steering so it was a rare beast.
My first Jeep was a 1959 CJ-5. It had the battery compartment on the cowl along with a snorkel opening on the hood with a filler piece in place just like the M38-A1. The previous owner removed the L-Head engine and dropped a 327 with a factory stock 2 BBL carb from a Corvette. Talk about a rocket! I have also owned a stock 1947 CJ-2A and a 1977 CJ-7 with the AMC 304 V-8 with standard three speed. One thing you did not mention was the older Jeeps (flat fenders) could have a heater in them, but NO way to defrost any moisture from the windshield. All the round fender jeeps had pass-through vents built into the windshield that was easy to connect vent hose to and have no vision problems if you have a full top on in the winter with the heater running. I still enjoyed the CJ-2A as my most favorite. But I did like having the defrost that the CJ-5 & CJ-7 had. I sure would enjoy a day in your garage just looking at all those jeeps! Love your vlogs! I did not hesitate to Subscribe and hit the "like" thumbs up!
Sweet Jeeps! I daily my '77CJ5 w/ a 304 and I never get tired of hearing that amc v8.
Thanks! So awesome, you daily your CJ-5. I had a yellow Renegade, Levi CJ-5, with the 304 many years ago. It was a great Jeep that got me through a lot. 😀
@@therealjeepguy Would you mind sharing your exhaust setup on that white one?
Hi from Argentina. Im propierty of Jeep IKA industry Kaiser Argentina 1968. This video help me for know difference between two models. Thanks you !!! The Jeep with V8 Is amazing ! Really feel the sound of the horse power !!!
Glad it was helpful!
I think of the CJ5 as the last true Jeep.
Wow man this is one heck of a collection! And my 2001 TJ doesn't like anything above 70 mph so not much has changed over the years. Also my first car was an 84 Renegade that loved to beat the hell out of me when i would drive it on long trips. Better seats only went so far!
60 minutes also rig the 73-87 chevy about the gas tank exploding
Thank you for the great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Really appreciate the video very informative! I have a 1980 cj 5. I have always wondered if my jeep had the tire mounted on the back since it does have a tailgate. This video pretty much answered my question!
Glad you liked it! 👍 Can you send me pictures of the tailgate? I would like to see if it's a factory setup. It was not uncommon for people to add them and delete them. My email is zach@thejeepguy.biz
Interesting! I have a ‘72 CJ5 (first of the intermediate years) and can see several factors of it being a transitional model.
I’ve had several, my current toy is a ‘74 304, my only complaint with ‘72 was the darn cable clutch they went to that year, it was a real pain. I ended up welding a bracket onto frame and going to direct mechanical connection like other years. Of course this was back when there was still jeeps at the junk yards for parts.
Great video! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
I need to get my 304 sounding like that!
Me too. My has burnt out thrush mufflers on fender well headers. Too loud!!!
Just got an all original unrestored 64 cj5, wish I'd have gotten a V8 now....Dang!
Nice video nd collection as well, l have a cj5 model 65. Love from Quetta Pakistan
Thank you for watching!
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
I thought I had a Jeep issue, but seeing your collection.... I see I'm a long way from being categorized or diagnosed. 😁
Thank you! I'm glad I can provide relief for guys and gals across the globe. 😆
My first was a 78 CJ5 Levis Renegade package, and them a 1983 CJ5 Renegade. My question, i am seeing alot of jeeps fixed up, repainted etc, and there are no "Renegade" graphics. Did Jeep make any jeeps- 1978-1986 CJ5's and CJ7's with no logo's? I always assumed all these CJ5/ CJ7 from these years had Renegade graphics.
Most did not have a package but the Renegade and Laredo are the most common packages. Renegade is probably the most common sticker package we see, it was done on the CJ series from 1972 until 1986.
My old 66 CJ5 had a 60/40 split front bench seat.
60 Minutes did to the CJ-5 what Consumer Reports did to the Suzuki Samurai.
my first car was a 1957 CJ 5 with the F head and 6 volt system
Awesome video, never seen so many jeeps in such great condition.
Glad you enjoyed it
Love the adherence to preservation and the dramatic contrast in performance! ....and what a breath taking collection overall. Jeep Valhalla. 😂
Thank you for the compliment and for watching!
My cousin had a V8 CJ5 in 82 and I drove it once and it was scary.
Wow thanks you. I am watching everyday
Thank you for watching!!
Nice collection. Pick a couple other variants for a video on them . V8 sounds great. Thx for the post.
Thanks for watching!
Nice collection of jeeps
Thanks 👍
Cool jeeps
What size tires are on that white cj5
Great content. thanks for info. very entertaining. I don’t know all that much about Jeeps. I am really happy for you in appreciation of the passion it requires for a wonderful collection like you have. -TrashyTodd
Thank you for the compliment and for watching!
Need a comparison video on the cj5 and m38a1
That sounds like a good idea. I'll put it on the list.
Sooo.. we don't get to see the engine on the Golden ??
Awesome video thanks! 304?
Thank you, and yes, the 304. 😊
I am restoring a 1966 CJ5. Is this the last year for the Willys tailgate?
As I remember it, the "Willys" stamped tailgate ended in the early 50s. It was then blank for a few years, and then in the early 60s, "Jeep" in lower case was added. Until the tailgate was changed again in 76.
Watched it twice. You popped the hood on the ‘60 and went over engine details but couldnt catch watch the engine under the ‘81 is. Can you remake the vid please?
Sorry, I forgot to go over that. It's the factory AMC V8 304.
Is it me, or did not even go over the engine except it was a V8 and sounded good?
If we went over every detail of the Jeeps, the videos would be 3 hours long, and no one would watch. Most jeep people know the only V8 the CJ came with is the 304, so we felt no further explanation is needed.

Yes you have a lot of pretty jeeps and I appreciate the look see at them, however I didn't see a FRANKENSTEIN addiction, I had a 1978 CJ5 RENEGADE blue LEVI addiction, it died all of a sudden, now I have a 1978 FRANKENSTEIN addiction CJ5 and yes it a NIGHTMARE for auto parts pepole, some do run ,others lurn ther training don't work, O well. With all those pretty jeeps you still don't have enough to put together 1 FRANKENSTEIN jeep
I see you have a m715
12v didnt come out in jeeps tell 58
Automatics weren't available in cj5s didn't start tell cj7
did not show the engine on the 81
