Hey guys, I'm having to repost this because KZhead didn't let me monitize the last one. Obviously, I think it's because I was wearing the spiderman t-shirt and big bad Marvel would get mad or something. It was deemed "not suitable for all advertisers". And I was right because when I uploaded this version with the t-shirt pixelated, KZhead had no problem with it.

My e46's CDV was already deleted when I bought it, so I've never felt how it is. The 1-2 shift has always been difficult to get smooth. Thanks for your perspective, everybody else seems to go racecar mode and throw it in the trash.

Could just start out in 2nd gear or start in first and skip 2nd. Really cool videos on the BMW! My brother had a 2003 325i auto when I was in high school and he let me take it to the prom, I immediately fell in love with it and have wanted one ever since. I am considering selling my 2017 GTI and getting a E46. I want the 330i or 330xi with a manual.

Nice work! I've had manual and automatic m54, there's big difference in city driving for me,33mpg against 26mpg in favor of the manual.

This is the first time I ever heard anyone WANTING a CDV. When I changed the slave cylinder in my 1996 328i, I took off the CDV, brought it outside, and threw it as far as possible. The clutch is much better since it's gone-because now the clutch does what my left foot wants, without the CDV muddying it all up. Also, I'm 50 years old and I WILL NEVER drive an automatic.
I have an E46 wagon with manual swap and have same issue with high RPM on the freeway in 5th gear but have gotten use to it. Freaked me out at first but rather enjoy it now. Given the rebuilt engine and manual gear box, you can probably sell it for a premium price. Then get another e46 with automatic transmission that needs work.
I had a ZHP with the 3.64 diff from a Z4 and the CDV delete. A lot of your observations rang true with me. The clutch pedal definitely had increased effort near the top, or a 'kick' as you put it. The PO of my car was a dealer tech, so I assume he new what he was doing with the CDV delete. I got used to it pretty quick though, and smooth shifts became really easy. Starting at a stop light, first in line, I'd have to shift into second before clearing the intersection. It definitely felt really 'quick' though, and it was fantastic for those 'down into second, sharp right turn, and power out' scenarios. For cruising around town (35mph zones) I'd usually be turning ~2k in 4th; definitely a workout. The next ZHP I own will get the 3.64 diff put in it though, it made a special car even more so.

Hey! Love the videos! quick question, did you have to override any of the transmission codes before starting the car after installing the manual transmission? Was the car in a "lock" mode? I do notice that the car does not start in an auto trans if it is not in park. when the manual swap is done, do you need to erase any codes or re code anything to actually get the car to turn on and run? Please if you could respond, i would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

I have a 6 speed car and swapped out my rear from the stock 3:07 to 3:38. It's the perfect balance between performance and daily driver. All my cars are manual I was thinking about going to 3:46 but I am very satisfied with what I have so I left it.
And I definitely might find that 2.93 is too small. There seem to be quite a few options.

hey i really like your videos they are very nice and self explanatory ,awesome, I'm wondering if u ever had a problem with trans mission fluid going in to the radiator ? sounds weird i know but i ask around and nobody seems to have this problem before i search and had no luck, just wondering if u seen it before , i have this problem know on my 2005 325ci automatic ,my transmission start acting weird and notice low fluid but no leaks, but my expansion tank start making a weird noise so went i open it i found the oil mix inside so i flush the system put everything apart and surprise was the trany fluid , don't know how is this possible , if u can help i will really appreciate , thanks men and keep up the great work.....

I will like ask you a question i have a e46 323 manual but the engine is broke and now i found a atomatic engine. Can i put automatic engine in my manual transmision. Because i can not find in your videos
i installed a differential gear ratio 3.73 from z4 2007 into my 2000 323ci Automatic trabsmission as part of my last Upgrade after Mod. the engine (Zhp camshaft, Better intake Manifold and ReMapped ECU).. Simple. LOVE IT , the way this ran, it's so great. but. YES i had to reiforce Subframe after 7 month. 😭 i did it just got some one to weld steel plates in place. 😄👍. now i have a question. should i did first Remaped TCM ( transmission Control Module) to let it know about the changed of final gear ? then ECU and TCM should works at same page with final Differential Ratio make it more smooth ride. since when i engage to DRIVE or REVERSE feels as lifted rough trunk area... apology. i don't know how to explain this... what you think guys?
Why does your mirror have a lil camera in the back? Is this for the auto dimming mirror?
Hi 50s I have Range rover L322 M57 (TD6) with 5L40E which is basically the X5 E53 preface, Can you please advise if there's a way to swap 54L40E to 6hp26, as much as i know the TCM for 5L40E is not inside the while on the 6hp26 is inside, i have also heard that since M57 is DDE4 and 6hp26 is made for DDE5 the 6hp26 can not communicate with my current DDE4, kind help with your input on this regard if there is a way to make it work, i have seen on the REALOEM bmw website the old X3s have 5L40E and M57N while i have never seen 6hp26 with M57 (DDE4). Kindly advise if this is posible if not i can opt for GS6-53DZ as i will also need your assistance on it as well due to wiring and module cancelation, if this task is possible please advise and also assist with your consultation fee.
That's what most are doing with the e46 now and turning them into drift cars. My boss wants my rear end for his manual. But I have an auto zf atm and don't much wish to set thru winter doing a manual swap and buying something to kill all the lights the cars gonna bitch about.
You wil get to know the sweet spot of the clutch after a couple of days driving it.
Can you show how to code after the swap?
I had a cdv 325i and a 323i w/o the cdv. I used to live in San Francisco. Believe me. You don't want a cdv equipped e46 driving in the hills of San Francisco.
planning to do this swap to my ZHP 2005. … because of future plans 2jz swap
I'll send you a clutch delay valve that I just took out of my 04 ZHP. Is your Lankershim address still good? You may not like it as much as you think you will though.
Hey there--thanks so much for the offer but I did find a delay valve at the junkyard and I'm enjoying it. These videos are a on a slight delay.
50sKid Glad you're enjoying it! Please comment on the next video(s) about how you like it. Since yours is 5 speed, 3.07 or even a 2.93 diff will pretty much solve your issues. That being said, I have been driving stick for 20+ years and I'm still "getting used to" the BMW clutch.

you said the gear ratios opposite, i think maybe on accident? the bigger the gear number the "shorter" the ratio. the smaller the number the "taller" the ratio.
Oh was wondering what happened. anyway i asked a question, which was if u had Sprint Booster/PedalBox when it was an auto? and if so, if it had the same 'torque' feeling as driving manual now? Now i know its subjective, but its an opinion im after. 330i manuals are hard to come by around here, even to test, so just want to know if u or anyone has a comparison

50sKid check it out if u wish. Doesnt add hp, just amplifies the DBW system, making the power available sooner. But enjoy the manual 1st! Your videos are the most helpful resource ever
best way to describe it is to demonstrate, I was expecting some pull away, at least dash view.... :| I have 330 manual and thinking to remove CDV and swap diff from auto
I really don't think there was a way to visually show what I was experiencing. It's just something you have to experience yourself. But now you see how in the videos I've recently posted.

Hey, thank you for this series of the swap. I probably watch the electronics video 15 times. I actually just did this swap. Took my 02 330i drift build and swapped everything to the gas tank over to my coupe. I wouldn't have done it without you! 🤪 I have no footage of me doing so since I was on a mission to get it done. And fyi it took me 3 full days to get everything over and messing with little odds and ends. I like the higher diff just because I'm a drifter. So it helps with the torque. Instagram. @cameldrift

lol, I don't think the comments matter in that regard, but I do appreciate you! Btw I had to use that expansion tank you sent me in MY car instead of the black car because my car developed a leak just before I started this project. Where did the tank come from? Dealer?
At least it's been put to use ;) I'm not sure where the tank came from? It was either Amazon or my local motor factors. When I bought it I wasn't familiar with good or bad brands so hopefully it's good! I'm a bit more wise these days ;)
