The straight boy obsession is pretty common in gay community unfortunately. Def involves some internalized homophobia. There’s also a lot of guys that are “only into masc”. There’s definitely consensual “experimenting” with straight boys that happens, typically when you are a younger gay/ still unsure of yourself. From there it can snowball with the sort of “roles” getting deeply engrained. However most people have at least one experience where they realize it’s not healthy or productive (for either party) to actively seek out straight or bi-curious men.. from there you sort of learn to open your mind and get used to gender roles being more fluid. It’s sort of looked down upon in my lgbt friend circles over the years to even claim only being attracted to “straight acting”. Yes, society is to blame on some level, but James is also, just overall a chickenhawk.
Maybe I'm way off, but it seems like the reason James goes after straight men is the same reason he goes after children (besides him just being a creep). They have nothing to compare him to.
