  • I can't help but be struck by how dangerous, labor intensive and just crazy hard so many of these are. How many things do I use or benefit from every day that someone broke their back to make? I'm sure many many more than I could ever imagine. Grateful for the hard working people that make the world go round.

    • Well workers see Safety as a burden, don't understand it is better for them. I am a supervisor in workshop and 50 manpower working under me. I warned them many times if they don't work with safety I will fire them, but they don't listen. They say it is difficult to work by wearing safety equipment. If company force them with safety, they just break the safety equipment and say it is broken so we will not use it give us new one, if we give them new. They break it again. Problem with Asian workers is they see Safety as a burden

  • A lot of this is oddly hypnotic to watch. I'm sure some of these videos are sped up but it's amazing how quickly and proficiently people and machines can work.

    @hendrsb33@hendrsb33 Жыл бұрын
    • I don't think anything is sped up. Time is money and they do stuff as fast as they can. Actually, some of the large stuff looks slow, but that is due to the cutting speed of the tool/material combination - that is always the same, whether it is small or large. The tiny stuff just looks fast because it has to rotate fast to get the same speed relative to the tool (I once visited a large steel mill where they were turning some piece that had several feet in diameter. It spun at maybe 4 rpm... Also that bending/casting stuff - tiny stuff is easy to get fast, for larger stuff it's really hard. You might want to visit Munro Live, the channel of a mechanical engineer. He has a rather long video where he was visiting Idra, the company making the gigacasting machines for Tesla. Apparently, casting 1/3 of the frame of a car is a non-trivial exercise...

Why does he and the media violate it under this administration. Power corrupts completely Thank you human beings we are not animals. We are brilliant together the must stop just stop and look around these wonderful hard working people be grateful we have no right to complain keep the politicians and billionaires accountable

    • There's a really, really, common misconception that proper safety will increase costs. Turns out that when appropriately applied it reduces costs. There's tons of data that shows this, but it's hard to convince people. You have to make safety a culture. The good news is that wages are rising worldwide and quality, renewability, and safety are all becoming more mainstream. (Source: my modern manufacturing class at university)

  • And remember kids, never wear eye protection, always cut towards you, and never, under ANY circumstances, wear a filtered facemask when varnishing objects in a closed in area. Also, don't ventilate. You wouldn't want to waste all of those precious carcinogens.

  • This video does a great job showing the world when the path to an objective is paved by the invention of yet another unique machine. Combined with the skill that follows repetition, the end result is a product in demand by a global market.
