  • Did you like this format of video? What other artists would you like me to sit down with and share their strategies? Let me know and I'll do my best to make it happen.

    • I think this was really insightful. I'm a decent singer / songwriter / musician but I'm always trying to grow and learn. I've done the bar circuit here in Maine with covers for the past 3 years and that was nice but it got stale and I got burned out. I've switched gears and I'm focusing on original songs, my back catalog which is growing, being more candid with my fans and scheduling shows performing just my originals. I love playing lead so I'm going to use the tracks I have from my album stripped down into backing tracks. I was always against using backing tracks as opposed to a band but finding band mates that are reliable is impossible and I can keep creative control this way. I always watch your videos and try to implement some of what I learn. Thanks for everything you do Adam!

  • hey Adam, I typically comment on videos or even usually subscribe but man I am so happy I found this video. Its so hard listening to “music marketing geniuses” that typically give out the same old advice and just want you to purchase there course. I truly felt like the both of you in this video cared and want to help people succeed. This video was very real and authentic and refreshing to hear a voice of a person actively doing it along with your perspective. I took notes on this video and I think the main takeaways for me was 1. take care of the people that care and 2. have songs ready to release. My goals this 2024 is to have a song hit 10 K streams organically and to get to 10 K on instagram. Once again, thank you man seriously, you gained a subscriber and new fan. I’m on the verge of releasing my first song in about a year and very excited. Take Care

    • I love the goals you've set and I appreciate you watching. Keep in mind that Nic D is sharing his path and what he does, but that doesn't mean it's the right path for everyone especially just starting out. I know sometimes it seems like marketing specialists give out "same old advice", but it's usually because it's foundational and it works. When it comes to courses, coaching, books, and other guidance I wouldn't turn a blind eye to those things either. Most times we offer a course (I do have a paid program as well) because we can really only share the beginner information on KZhead and the more intricate and advanced guidance requires individualized follow up questions and answers which we can't do on KZhead because of the time and attention required. I'm just speaking for myself though.

  • This gotta be the best video i've watched in about 2 years or more. last year i spent so much time building my catalog and was overlooking the content need of music artists today and when it clicked that i needed content somewhat more than the music to build a FOLLOWING i looked at my catalog and it sent me into a mental crisis. the songs are great but when it came to HOW WOULD I MARKET THEM (content) i collapsed. but i've recently gotten out of that and decided that instead of trying to fit the music ; make the music fit me. Make music that's the most authentic to me instead of what can get a sync. i'm pretty versatile in what i do so that's what had me stuck but i have a country song releasing next month that i plan to implement all of this and get 1 million streams at least on within the first 3 months ! This was confirmation to the things that i've been telling other music friends but not applying myself. JUST BE YOU!! See you in 3 months 🙌🏽 thanks Adam and Nic !

    • Thanks for watching! So in my opinion, you’re not sacrificing artistry by focusing on getting it to as many people as possible. If someone doesn’t care about getting their art to the masses then it could be said that they are just having fun with their hobby and there is nothing wrong with that either. Either way I hope you hit your stride and create your music by your own rules.

  • Inspiring and definitely what I needed. I’m 33, travelling and getting inspiration from nature for my music. I’m becoming the artist I always felt I was meant to be but scared of pursuing it. I followed the sound career closely (spatial audio engineer and wildlife sound recordist), but I always wanted to make music. I’m making so many beats now with birdsongs. I’ll make sure to comment here in 6 months. Thanks for the inspiring talk!

  • Thank you both so much for sitting down and sharing this information. Adam, since you asked, I do appreciate you mixing it up and going for a more relaxed/relatable interview but I think the content would be more digestible in a podcast setting like a joe Rogan set up. I would have felt a little less awkward but either way appreciate the energy to get this info out. Lot of gems in here that I actually implemented and for the first time in my career I have 50k views on TikTok and 8k plays on Spotify. Nic really cracked the code

  • Some great info in this interview. Only thing is, there is a large number of us that don’t know what the song is about until it grows and develops. Especially if that music comes from within rather than an external specification. I’d love to see a video on how to make useful videos 🤷🏼‍♂️
