Tinashe has never been one-dimensional. With the many titles of singer, songwriter, producer, engineer and dancer under her belt, she came to the Tiny Desk and proved just that. A snow storm may have kept many Washington, D.C. natives in their home that day, but Tinashe was at the office bright and early with an infectious smile and spirit that would warm up any chill in the building.
Since starting her music career in 2007, Tinashe has created songs in genres spanning from pop to electro-R&B. And as the Aquarius said herself, "at this point, I've really demonstrated that I don't necessarily fit into one genre." At the Tiny Desk, Tinashe presents cuts from several different projects. First, comforting the crowd with the vulnerability of "Treason," from her album BB/Ang3l, accompanied by a vibraphone which she plays live for the first time ever. Tinashe switches gears with "Unconditional," the Kaytranada-produced track off her album 333. Then the artist performed one of her self-proclaimed favorite tracks, "Touch And Go," from her album Songs for You. To conclude her high-energy set, Tinashe performed her breakout single, "2 On," right on time for its 10-year anniversary. As I sang, danced and cheered along with the rest of the crowd, I thought to myself, this is a show worth trekking through the snow for.

I know that the album has been released, but please tell @Tinashe to make "Treason" a video and drop this as a single. It's different, and it feels a bit country. 💯📈
Victoria Monet finally got her flowers in 2023-2024. Now it's time for Tinashe to get hers. This woman's musicality, like Victoria's is just so distinct and beautiful. (And I'm still mad about "Songs For You" not getting the love it deserves as one of the best albums of 2019.) Tinashe's time is coming sooner rather than later and I'm here for it! Thank you Tiny Desk for having her and starting to place people in Tinashe's time zone 😎🙌🏾

Victoria Monet... Sorry I am not impressed and that on my momma
@@terradaktal8318listen to her song good bye. she is SO impressive.
She must didn’t want to sell her soul because I don’t understand why she is so unappreciated 😢 Plus she’s independent so she does everything on her own!
This girl can sing, dance, produce, write, act, model, play instruments, engineering, she's so talented. I'm happy to see her winning!!
Oh, I didn't knows she plays instruments. But aside grom that, she's amazing
Tinashe deserves more recognition.
She prob hasn’t sold her soul. That’s why lol. Nah but fr I agree she’s very slept onnnnn

Nah FrFr. I love her.
Literally, just added all her music to my playlist 😭🩷
Way more
To be a Tinashe fan is to be FED and so proud of her journey! Her going independent was the best thing she could’ve done ❤️
Fr
reeeeeaaaalllll
Facts!!!🎉
Is being independent working out better for her ? I love her music and listen to lots of it.. old and most current . I don’t know much about how being an independent artist works, so I get disappointed thinking that she doesn’t get the recognition and success that she deserves.

One of my favorite things about these concerts is getting to watch the musicians be absolutely in love with the music they are making. You can tell they are all just feeling it!
Ahhh, Yesszzz, when Artists ENJOY what they're Singing, rapping and whatnot, it shows their their Skin/pores an overall Aura and such.🥰😘
Tinashe and team went OFF here. I've never added a song to my library as quickly as I did here with Treason.
ME TOO FR
How she starts off with two of my favorite songs from her ughh I love her
same here!
THIS
I'm so so happy Treason is getting its go off
We need a part 2 this isn't enough considering her catalogue of music
No like I need her to perform more songs
Fr like let her jump on the desk and start performing All Hands on Deck
Tinashe does not have a "catalogue." Y'all type anything.
@@SilverJoystix disliked ur comment
@@SilverJoystixany artist with multiple albums/projects has a catalogue. 😂
i saw Tinashe live on valentines day and her voice was so incredible! her mic was on!
Truth! Singers sound so much better with a working microphone than without one! It's so hard for an artist to convey the power and emotion of a song with a dead microphone, so we should also give a shout out to the equipment crew for keeping that mic fully charged and available.
She must be stunning and lovely to hear her sing live.
which of the days m8? asking for a friend(girl)thnks
I saw her live too in Tampa on the 2nd and I really loved the mash up of Needs/All Hands On Deck she does at the end of her show!
@@lynguttsteff it’s okay to like a female singer if you’re a man. or any gender. stop being so insecure.
Its the audience harmonizing on 2 on 😂!! They did good!!
Nar, are her backers in the crowd. They know every word and adlib loool. This is a good tiny desk
I have been on repeat with that section
Love they did that. 2 On is great to harmonize on!
Fr that my song
@@krobeats @mg682 , I need them to confirm whether that what they did, cause it brought the energy!!!
We waited so so long for this she should’ve done at least 6 songs but still its perfect like everything she does 🥺
true.
so true 🤍
Tinashe doesn’t have one bad song in her discography.. Every album is different from each other. Check her music everyone
And her mixtapes!!! 🔥🔥🔥

They finally let her have one in 2024. The music industry Cold as ice

I absolutely love the guitarist's facial expressions! He definitely loves what he does! 😀
I was there feeling it with him
I might just go and start a fan page for Zach because he's always looked this passionate whilst performing since the 333 tour. What a cutie😊
Yes!!!
TINASHE is a all rounder and nobody can take that from her
This rendition of 2 on was anointed I’m afraid, the cello didn’t exist until this very moment
I can't believe how good that suits the cello, perfect...
Really impressed with how well she transitioned some of these songs to a live crowd with more of a acoustic vibe. Great artist and her looks my god.
I've always been kind of amused by the way multiple musicians and instruments can be shoehorned into the Tiny Desk performance space. Now, I love to see this, a set from our girl Tinashe accompanied by multiple musicians treating us to ballads mostly
The only problem I have with this is that it is not longer. Her discography is so rich
she should have more grammys for this amount of talent.. never forget the first time I heard "bated breath"
My favorite song by her and I loved that video so much!!
agreed i think that was the moment i fell in love with her and her music
what an amazing track, such a lovely slow burn
And what about "Touch & Go"? I feel so spoiled that she choose my favorite track from Songs for You! It's one of her best compositions, and I so much enjoyed the new bridge she sang with that powerful break right after! Gave the song a whole new impact 💗
Same same same
@@kitsch1353 hey, do I spot a fellow Lana fan? 😃 guess it's no surprise we both enjoy one of Tinashe's more melancholic songs, right?!

😵💫 this arrangement of treason.....T we need a studio version PLEATHEEEEEEEEEEEE 😭
Tinashe is so underrated... On top of that, not everyone sounds this good with a live band (and the band was kicking)!!!
Only 4 songs is criminal!
JAIL
Love that she did unconditional!!! It's one of my favorite songs!
Mine too! I forgot how much I love this song!
A lot of artists put together some really pleasant arrangements for these sets, and I often wish that it could be how their music normally sounds. This girl could bring the vibraphone to the airwaves! Really good performance, really well-arranged. Props to the drummer/musical director.
SHEEEESSSSHHHH THE CELLO ON 2 ON?! GOOD LORD THIS LIVE PERFORMANCE FORREAL BROUGHT SO MUCH LIGHT TO MY MORNING! we up yall and tinashe and the fabulous and talented musicians forreal created beautiful renditions to her songs wow i am blown away
This is her moment! Been a fan of Tinashe for 10 years. Just met her and saw her live 2 weeks ago in Tampa. She's a star! Stream her albums. ;)
Treason is one of the best opening tracks I've heard in a while. I hope someday she has her own personal acoustic concert or EP or album even. This was great, and also awesome she plays vibraphone (percussion squad 🥁). My only complaint is that it was too short!
I love that she brought out a xylophone ! What a great way to make a song sound dreamy !
I literally EMAILED through the NPR website asking them to bring Tinashe to Tiny Desk. I am so happy!!! She is the most multi-dimensional artist and a true visionary! Her art has moved me and inspired me tremendously! I am a huge fan!!!
An entire acoustic album after this performance pls!! So pretty!!
That violin arrangements on ‘2 On’ girl you nailed it 💅

I just recently saw her in concert, February 12th 2024 in Boston,MA. I met her too. She was so amazing 👏🏾 and so sweet. This makes me so happy! ❤
From the marimba to the clap to the guitarist, what a way to start the show by showing where you’re from Nashe. So happy to have you on the desk. So proud of you
Yeiii! I love Tinashe! She is definitely talented and her band was on fire. She has such an incredible presence and seems so humble. This was really good. Keep bringing ladies to NPR 👏
NASHE unconditional is literally one of my favorites from 333. Along with let me down slowly. Thanks you for doing it! 😌🫶🏻
Saw her in Chicago and she is a force to be reckoned with! So amazingly talented ❤
Never heard of her. Wanted more. I’ll be watching this a few more times Good work.
Welcome to the Nashe universe… we are All about family in here. Nashe is an AMAZING Artist👌🏾 She’s been sorta indie for a large part of her career…probably why you haven’t heard of her (but she’s been out there quite widely with many mainstream collabs).
Yea welcome to the Nashe world 🎉🎉🎉
She drop her album BB the other day ❤
As a musician myself, i give a big importance to the instrumental composition and arrangement, and this was top notch, on another level 🔥
You can throw any new artists as comparison. But you can’t replicate the skill level nor the professional producing. Tinashe is one of the only female dancers and music engineers we have.
I’ve been a huge fan of her for YEARS!! I am obsessed with her songwriting. She is a true artist. Her passion for music is displayed by her singing, dancing & energy throughout her performances. LOVE YOU SO MUCH TINASHE !!!!!!!!!!!!!💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

She’s so adorable. I like her so much. This was nice. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
She’s such an amazing artist and talent. I’m so proud of her music has gotten and sound became even more distinct over the years.
I love me sum Tinashé 😊😍🥰. I freakin' luv Touch and Go ❤.
Tinashe is so freaking talented, you can clearly hear the amount of love and effort she puts in her music! 🤍✨️
NPR nailed again!!! What a band! What a voice! So smooth... thanks for that! ❤
LOVE the musical arrangements on this set 🔥🔥
I love this!!! I agree that the sound of the instruments took a spot over Tinashe's singing, but she did great nonetheless and I much rather hear these songs with new instruments either way. I never liked "2 On" but this new version, all grown up and sexy, is right up my alley! Kudos to the whole band and NPR... and Tinashe of course, these re arrangements were all interesting and original 🥰
im telling my kids this was Beyonce
😮😂
These 4 songs don't even BEGIN to scratch the surface of her catalog, bcos what??? She could've easily fitted a 15-song medley into these 17 minutes
Saw her when she was in DC a few weeks ago and it changed my life. She's just so so good.
Livid it was only 17mins. Blessed that it was 17mins of pure gold.
Love her. Always going to stick beside her to ❤. Been a fan since she came out with that song 2 on.
