The reason for picking an NVG over a flashlight incredibly niche basically you want to see without being seen. Flashlights are a 100x cheaper and let you see a lot more

@@wurouchamee5220*a lot less. Using a flashlight will narrow down your cone of vision to only what's being illuminated. Anything behind that is not visible. Try using a torch in the woods and see how far you'll be able to see. Using nvgs or even you night adapted eyes will allow you to see hundreds of meters as your eyes won't be overloaded by light highlights washing out your contrast
