  • Wow! Amazing drawing. Beautiful render, and it’s surprising that it’s all using stains. I'm surprised that initially, at the sketch stage, the author had everything in his head in advance! From the first minutes it was clear that it would turn out to be a masterpiece. How long have you been drawing? Moreover, all this was made in Krita 🤯! I will follow your example)

    • Thanks! I didn't have a clear image in my head of what I wanted the piece to look like but rather a rough idea of the scene and the mood. I actually did some preliminary drawings before coming up with this composition but I don't want to plan everything beforehand. I like to be guided by the process, at least to some degree. I've been drawing for about 10 years now.

    • Haha yeah, I kinda did. I liked the idea of the smooth rocks right from the beginning but felt like something was missing the whole time. I wasn’t too sure about the arrangement and sizes of the rocks either but I think it turned out alright in the end. :)

  • HOOOW can you start so messy 😭😭. This is my issue, i'm getting scared when i see mess in the painting and i think i f d it up. But it's always paint over-able right? 😂😂

    • Of course :) especially in digital but I work similarly „messy“ in traditional, too. If you’re struggling to be more loose with your painting, I would recommend starting with a line drawing. It doesn’t have to be super detailed, just enough so you can lay in your colors without worrying to mess up the composition or initial sketch. I think it’s extremely important to start with big shapes. Start very rough, dynamic and full of energy because you will lose a lot of that initial energy throughout the painting process. Sometime ago I read a quote which I think is very true: „Nothing will stop you from being creative so effectively as the fear of making a mistake.“

    • @@nicolasklugart oh i totally agree with the quote and thank you for your kind insight. I m way too perfectionist, overthinking every little step and that cuts away soo much of the result i have in my head.
