On the vending masher you can make an item filter by hooking up a Redstone torch by the comparator redstone and putting a gold nugget or anything, than put 11 of any block other than the item in the first slot

The only problem with the "protected" armor stand is that you need to have a no griefing rule because the people can just break it and steal, but if you have those strict rules theres no point in having heavily protected stuff
