Most of us are going to live out our days living in apartments, condos, or single-family homes. If we’re lucky we’ll be able to upgrade and maybe even move to a three-story home. But then there are the folks who live in mansions or even take things a step further with the mega-mansions. But what about the people who are richer than god? People like world leaders and royalty of times passed. Well, they get to live in palaces. With staff to take care of your every need and built in the architectural styles that reflect the culture and geography from gothic to baroque, most of these mansions are absolutely stunning. But there are some that are both better and bigger than others with hundreds upon hundreds of rooms and acres of space. So join us for today’s video, where we look at 15 of the biggest palaces on Earth!

The narrator saying that Edinburgh castle is the most picturesque scene in Scotland shows he has no idea what the rest of Scotland is like
It's possible that the narrator is actually reading a script that was written up by someone else. The narrator possibly only does one thing....narrate
@@Tully_23_32 the one who wrote the script then 🙄
He might be referring to palaces and buildings not the natural landscape. Maybe you could specifically cite an example to refute him 😉☺
Scotland sucks. A better view of a country isn't in Europe at all. You should see Italy in spring, Australia in winter, Norway in summer, and northern USA in autumn.
@@johnwymer1215 I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Norway, Italy and Scotland are in Europe?
You forgot the Louvre Palace, which was the residence of the French King before Versailles was built. And the size of the Palace is enormous (bigger than Versailles) so it should definitely have been on this list.
There are many more. I've personally been to some of ones listed here. Versailles, Bangkok palace, Schonbrunn, Chateau Chambord (that one is in the Louare; a whole valley of castles; you need a full summer vacation to visit them all) Buckingham palace. (though odd that it doesn't feature one of the most famous castles I've also been to; Schloss neuschweinstein, which is what Disney castle is based on; the one from their logo that always starts at the beginning of their movies.)
Another French royal palace the chateau de Fontainebleau , is with 1650 rooms , even larger
Some people may not consider the Louvre a palace anymore due to the fact that it’s now an art museum, but personally, I do believe it should have been on this list.
There are already two French palaces in the list. Maybe the maker of the video wants to give some variety and mention other countries from other continents too, not just Baroque European palaces, even if these are the most common.
The Louvre is bigger than Versailles? Anyway, this terrible Biggest List omitted the Peterhof and Catherine's Palace, both in St. Petersburg and both jaw droppingly enormous. Istana Nurul Imam Palace is a vulgar eyesore and hello...was built in the 80s!!!?! LOL!
There's a big diference between a Palace and a Temple a Monastery or a Castle. Putting Edinburgh Castle on this List its Ridículous. Its a fabulous Castle, but being on the 15 biggest palaces (wich is not, its a Castle) in the world, its going a long way. There are plenty of Castles around Europe Much bigger.
Then to miss off 1000 year old Windsor castle standing in 13,000 acres (52000 Sq M) - how?
@@curiositylandrover like any other castle, palace, fortress, in Europe, Windsor was increasing in size, along the years until the civil war. The Charles ll in 1660 had to rebuilt the castle Who was almost destroyed and were built other structures, , and further in the 18 th and 19th century, recived a lot of knew buildings, that have nothing to do with the original castle. Its called signs of the times.
fussy fussy make your own u tube video then
@@curtislavallee8444 no,man. If you do it,do it with real and proper information. This isb from lazy people who dont care if its right or wrong ...but for Ignorant people who see this makes no difference at all. So its ok by someone standards. Afterall ignorance is Bliss.
Where is Edimborough?
I’ve been to the castles in Madrid and Bangkok and the Alhambra in Granada Spain. They’re so cool.
ahh...........The Palace in Spain has 3400 rooms, yes, but it comes out to a lot more than 40,000 square feet of space...the building actually has OVER 1,400,000 square feet of space..
Exactly, that's why I rarely watch this channel. His videos are filled with inaccuracies, false statements that have been widely debunked, or exclusions (like the Louvre in this video). One of his videos stated the most expensive yacht was made of pure gold and was worth 5 billion dollars. This channel is total junk.
Very much surprised that Mysuru palace in India wasn't mentioned. It is an amazing palace and the second biggest tourist attraction in India after the Taj Mahal.
Yeah, the Mysore palace should have made the list well before Hawa Mahal.
Have a look at them 10. Bangalore Palace 9. Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad 8. Rambagh Palace, Jaipur 7. Hawa Mahal, Jaipur 6. Lake Palace, Udaipur 5. City Palace, Jaipur 4. Umaid Bhavan Palace, Jodhpur 3. Laxmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara 2. Udai Vilas Palace, Udaipur 1. Mysore Palace, Mysore
Rashtrapati Bhavan ( the president house of India ) is also not mentioned
No time...😂😂😂
This little list...is about beautiful castles... Please ,visit Romania... Dracula 's castles ...and many others... Enjoy
that's not the palace of the Sultan of Brunei (Nurul Iman Palace).. that's the mosque in the capital (Bandar Seri Begawan) i.e. Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque..
Yes, I agree with you. Considering to be number 1 in the list should be really be authentic but the video did not show the Istana Nurul Iman mentioned but the Sultan Omar Ali Saifudien Mosque located in the downtown capital Bandar Seri Begawan. The exact palace is located about 5 kilometers further south of the mosque where it majestically stand at the top of the hill along the banks of Brunei River. I should know having worked inside there for 15 years. Would appreciate the error be rectified.
How did they miss this fact? I would think a simple Google search would have shown them that? Odd.
The last few palaces did not look like "The biggest" compared to the forbidden palace in China.
Excellent view of these palaces thank you for showing us this amazing video well done 👍
Delighted to see my home city of Edinburgh represented in such esteemed company!!
Well said!
✊🏻💚🏰
Chambord is a Beauty amongst buildings...
But the inside decoration is kinda lame compared to other palaces
@@amogussy_did_9.11 unfortunately, the interior of the castle was ransacked during the revolution.
Awesome palaces , love ❤️ them all
Amazing places. Extremely big. I will be visiting these places one day. Appalled and astonished at what the world has to offer.
Impressive. Not sure how Peter the Great's Place (the Peterhof Palace), Palace of Catherine the Great, Bangkok's Grand Palace, Portugal's Palace of Monserrate, or Denmark's Rosenborg Palace missed the list. They at least need to be on a honorable mention list.
Bangkok's Grand Palace is on the list??
Don't know about the other's,but Monserrate palace is not that big
Peterhof and Catherine palace are huge! And amazing ! They deserved a spot
Well, this video is centered on the largest, not necessarily the most beautiful.
You're ryt
Thinking Buckingham palace is old at "200 years" considering the UK royal family have had Windsor Castle for around 1000 years 😅
BP is just over 300 years old ;)
Awesome and full of surprises -- thank you.
So this list totally skipped out on the Hofburg Palace, the biggest palace complex in Europe; Windsor Castle, way bigger than Buckingham Palace; the Louvre Palace, the biggest palace in the world by sheer square footage; the Apostolic Palace, the most sumptuous palace in Italy; the Grand Kremlin Palace, the most glittering palace in Russia; the Catherine Palace, the most beautiful palace in Russia; El Escorial, Spain's biggest palace complex; Mafra Palace, Portugal's biggest palace; the Red Fort, India's largest palace; the Agra Fort, another one of India's grand palaces; the Tokyo Imperial Palace, Japan's biggest palace complex; Sans-Souci Palace, Germany's most beautiful palace; Wurzburg Palace, one of the most sumptuous palaces in Germany. And I haven't even covered the palaces in Belgium, the Netherlands, Iran, Egypt, Cambodia, Poland, Ukraine, Hungary and the like. This was a bad list, not gonna lie. There were way better palaces to cover than most of the ones covered here.
yes, when the narrator describes things as "cool", you know the list isn't going to be exactly accurate or educational. The video feels like it was written by someone in high school, lol
He mentioned Drottningholm palace which isn't even the largest palace in Sweden. Stockholm Palace is much larger. Drottningholm was more of a retreat place
Not true about el Escorial, it is basically a monastery, the palace area isn't that big, just a small part of the complex.
Btw indias largest is chittorgardh. But agrafort is huge too.
Caserta Palace in Italy covering an area of 47,000 m2 has over 1200 rooms. Not on the list either?
I thought there would be the Vatican Palace, or the Louvre
Great video thanks for posting
And the Louvre palace in Paris?
Looking at this video I can't believe how much space does palaces have, if I compared some of this palaces to the apartment I live in is the size of a small closet. The size of does palaces yards you can probably fit a small town on it.
Versailles is my favorite, but all of them are amazing looking
It's educating! A lot of palaces I don't know as well as beautiful. #1 is a surprise.
There are not enough adjectives to describe the awesomeness of these palaces and castles
the biggest palace should be the old summer palace. it is around 5 times the size of vatican city however being damged and burned during the opium war. beautiful palace, with resovoiurs everywhere. It deserves a mention in the video.
I always get amazed by these beautiful masterpieces. Wonder if I will be ever be able to cross a few of them off my bucket list 🤞
step on a plane 🛫
@@natwel1544 that's kinda d plan, when I have saved enough moola for that!
Having seen some of these wonderful palaces I was interested in the ones I didn't know about.
Chateau palace is stunning!
Forbidden City: The complex consists of 980 buildings,[4] encompassing 8,886 rooms and covering 720,000 square metres (72 hectares)/178 acres.
So marvelous ❤
very good video.
Beautiful
The list is nonsence…Including Edinborough Castle (ti is beautiful) and not including Prague Castle which is the biggest castle in the world…The list is just not correct, it is just a random list of nice palaces but definitely not the list of 15 biggest
he was just paied to put the shit palace of brunei on top 1 in the list because he might be an american and everyone knows that americans and geography dont get very well togheter and yes you are right Prague castle is much bigger than the entire edinburgh castle and so many palaces in this list
I never understood why it is said to be the largest castle in the world when having visited it twice, half of the castle is not really one but more bizarre buildings that were not used as a "palace" at all, only a small part was really assigned to it. The Louvre is truly the largest, its entire area was really used as a palace, the castle of Prague, although beautiful, does not come close to it. The calculation does not take into account reality, it includes the entire citadel of Prague Castle.
Ya agree
Yeah and that Causesku palace in Bucharest is massive I hear
And Drottningholm in Sweden... It is nice, but I have been to several castles in Germany not on the list but larger (Berlin-Charlottenburg, Mannheim)
Madrid Royal Palace is bigger than Buckingham Palace.
Ive been to Schönbrunn and Dröttningholm, very beautiful places
As Always Splendid and Perfect, Thank You From Your Friend
Can't believe these were built in a time before power tools. Amazing
According to the Guinness World Records, Forbidden City holds the "largest palace in the world". The Istana Nurul Iman, with 2,152,782 square feet (200,000 m2) of floorspace, holds the title as the "world's largest residential palace" held in Brunei.
And the Republic’s House in Bucarest?!
The video is good can't it be little short
You do know that Peterhoff has 60 million sqf of livable space and last time I checked there were 10 thousand rooms in Peterhoff and there’s over 150 million pieces of art work in the palace and it’s about the circumference of about 10 miles hell the city that I live in could fit in the day park of Peterhoff
Ankgor Wat its the biggest palace/Temple/citie ever builted. And the Royal Mafra Palace in Portugal its Massive.
This home is so gorgeous 😍
I cannot imagine 35 million square feet. Start your tour in the morning and finish it sometime a week later. 1255 square miles is a tremendous amount of walking. That’s from the center of America east to the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico.
That is clearly not the building, but the whole site, including gardens. There are so many errors in this video, like they don’t understand the numbers. Madrid palace was 3.400 m2 and had the same amount of rooms? And the outdoor pictures of the palace in brunei was only the mosque, I think.
35 million square feet equals about 1.25 square miles. Still enormous!
About the royal palace in Madrid, just 45 km (28 miles) outside of Madrid is the favorite hide out of Filips 2, Escorial. As Filips 2 was very religious he wanted to live his life close to the church far from the buzz in Madrid. Escorial is a connected structure consisting a huge cathedral, monastery , library, tumb and royal living space in one massive complex. The complex has 4000 rooms, dwarfing most of the other palaces in this list. The library is filled with an outrages number of handmade priceless books, covered with paintings gold and jewels. He wanted to assemble all possible information on earth. Bit same like internet but then centuries ago. Filips 2 was also a great art collector, one of his owned paintings made by Jeronimos Bosch reveals on the back a round earth. Raising all kind of questions. Of the 15 in your list I’ve seen 9 so far. Next huge palace I hope to visit is the former residence of president Caucescou of Romania which was known as the largest building in the world for at least some time. To build it they demolished half the city, half a century ago.
India have Laxmi Vilas n Uday Vilas palace which are way more bigger than many palaces
Think the stats are somewhat off in this video, at least they are for the Royal Palace, Madrid which has 135,000 sqm not the 3,000 mentioned. Get your stats right!
Topkapi Palace is the one of the oldest and biggest palace with the many old and precious and severious artifacts and art works from all of the world. It is also in the list of UNESCO. For example its chinese porcelain collection is unique and its is biggest and oldest than China have!
Topkapi is not that big.
What about casa Republicii in Bucharest?
The only problem I have is that not enough time is given to explore each palace.
Lots of places like this built on farmland in the Fraser valley 😘
What about the Ceaucescu palace and the Escorial ? I saw both of them and they are massive structures.
The one built by Ceausescu is not a Palace. It is an administrative center, now housing the Parliament. He intended it to house most state institutions.
The Escorial is the largest Renaissance building in the world. But its a monastery, not a palace.
@@CCEkeke Well, el Monasterio del Escorial it was residence of Felipe II.
I would hate walking to my room every night though
Really
I would stay in one room every day then change the next day
I would don a tunic and grab a wip, run through the rooms and halls and dungeons and towers and pretend I'm playing a real life version of Castle Vania!
There are many places missed, however, these are all top 10 arguably.
In India many more biggest palaces throughout the world .....and all the palaces of the world are failed infront of Indian palaces.......❤❤it shows our Indian bravery and tells story about our fighters who fought against our ❤matrabhumi❤ our kings are not fight only for their kingdom but also fought against the outsiders.....who attack only for ruled our BHARAT......😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 . ..
I AGREE!!! There are many beautiful and more imaginative and exotic palaces in India which should have been mentioned!!! 👏👏👏
You forgot Mannheim Palace in Germany and the Residenz Palace in Munich.
Nice museum
No enseñaste mucho que digamos del palacio Real de ORIENTE de Madrid ( nombre real), te quedó por enseñar su fachada principal, y algunas salas de colorido increíble.
This list is pointless since you didn't include this : The Palace of the Parliament (Romanian: Palatul Parlamentului), also known as the Republic's House (Casa Republicii) or People's House/People's Palace (Casa Poporului), is the seat of the Parliament of Romania, located atop Dealul Spirii in Bucharest, the national capital. The Palace reaches a height of 84 m (276 ft),[1] has a floor area of 365,000 m2 (3,930,000 sq ft)[2] and a volume of 2,550,000 m3 (90,000,000 cu ft). The Palace of the Parliament is the heaviest building in the world, weighing about 4,098,500,000 kilograms (9.04 billion pounds; 4.10 million tonnes), also being the second largest administrative building in the world.
Manca, sicuramente, il palazzo del Quirinale a Roma e, soprattutto, palazzo Pitti a Firenze oltre alla reggia di Stupinigi in Piemonte.
Ther is NO queen of England. Elizabeth is Queen of the United Kingdom. Also, Edinburgh Castle is not a Palace but a Castle. The Palace in Scotland is, i think. Holrood House. Kris in Orlando
It seems to me that the total areas are off by a factor of 10 or 100. For example, Chambord had 3400 rooms but is only 40,000 square feet? I suspect that was 40,000 square meters or 400,000 square feet.
Came here to see if someone else noticed that too
Who are still using 'feet' in 21th century ?
Absolutely amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed the video
A fascinating peek inside some impressive structures, but unfortunately with some equally glaring inaccuracies. For example the narrator mentions that "Versailles" was home to many Kings and Queens...? Not so, in fact the "Chateau de Versailles" was only occupied by Three Monarchs, Loius XIV, Loius XV and finally, the tragic Loius XVl and his Queen, the ill-fated Marie-Antionette, It has not been occupied since, their executions..! Also you refer to "Buckingham Palace" as Queen Elisabeth's, "home", whilst it is an official residence of British Monarchs, "Her Majesty" has for long referred to it as "The Office", whilst she calls "Windsor Castle, "Home" and has now officially relocated there. Similarly the "Palacio Real" in Madrid is only used for official state functions, whilst the Spanish Royal family resides in the far more modest, and much less grand or imposing, "Zarzuela Palace" on the outskirts of the capital.
Your comment is inaccurate regarding to Versailles. Indeed, Louis XIV enlarge the castle to its current size. Yet, the castle existed before Louis XIV, and so was occupied by "many kings and queens". For instance, Henri IV stayed in Versailles just before his crowning in 1589 and returned several times after - 1604 and 1609 according to French wiki.
I think you might want to check on the Royal palace in Madrid... it has way more than 40,000sq ft of floorspace.
1:09 The palace isn't owned by the royal family, its owned by the state as a place for the monarch to live in the capital.
Why is the Topkapi palace not in the list?!
You can fit three small towns of people in those castles😮
Super ❤
Queen Elizabeth was not "The Queen of England". Why do Americans ALWAYS get this wrong? England is only one of the four home nations of the United Kingdom, the others being Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England hasn't been a sovereign country since 1707, when the Act of Union united the formerly separate countries of Scotland and England to create the new country of Great Britain. The Queen was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, NOT the Queen of England.
If 15 are those so, then 3 palaces are still waiting for me to visit
The picture shown is not Istana Nurul Iman, but the national mosque of Brunei.
R.I.P Queen Elizabeth II

One day I will create a dynasty and Royal palace also
Im disgusted when i see how much treasure is thrown on one family while they have people starving in the streets !!!!!!
Topkapi Palace is the best Palace in the world
There is no way the Royal Palace of Madrid is just 40,500 sq ft. in floor space. You say it has 3400 rooms. You should have caught the error that, because it means that the average room is about 12 sq ft...or about 3 foot by 4 foot. In order for it to be the largest palace by floor area in Europe (as you claim in the video), it will have to be more than Buckingham Palace's 828,821 square feet.
I think they made a mistake. I wish they would make a correction and put the actual sq.ft. in text on the video..
El Palacio Real de Madrid tiene 135.000 metros cuadrados, unos 1.450.000 pies cuadrados(sq ft)
Nice 🎉🎉🎉🎉
To be Honest, Hawa Mahal is one of the smallest palace of India.
Didn't Ceaucescu in Romania build a huge palace?
How big are these al in comparison to empirer Nero palace of Rome?
How it feels when people live in such huge areas? I bet they get lost daily....guess they use Google map to get directions 😂

the number 1, thats not the palace. Thats a landmark mosque. Not even close to the palace.
Buckingham palace...over 200 years residential home of the royal family.....what'd you want to bet its paid off! 😎
Edinburgh castle didn’t feel big when I visited.
I am surprised that the royal palace of madrid and the alhambra are not there, since the royal palace of Madrid is the largest palace in Western Europe, bigger than Buckingham and Versailles.
4:07 and 16:24 you should watch the Video before complaining mate ;)
the palaces are all beautiful but the information in this video and the list is questionable, at best

Do you think the people who live in these have ever been in every room?
My entire house is the size of one room! 😅👉🏠
At number 1, the video depicted is not of Istana Nurul Iman. That is the Sultan Ali Saifuddin Mosque, which is an entirely different building.
True
I noticed that myself. I looked up the Royal Palace on GoogleMaps and couldn't find that 'barge' and pool anywhere, until I found the mosque a little further away to the East.
Europe is by far the greatest continent on the planet.
