Abhyankar (Amrish Puri) is an orthodox head of his family, a retired police officer, he has values which he wants his family to also uphold. As a result of his values, his daughter is unable to be forthright and is unable to introduce the young man (Anil Kapoor) she loves, and concocts a scheme whereby her father would approve of her lover. What results is quite hilarious

Nothing is bad in this movie.. not even a single thing .. from acting ,songs , casting . How beautiful… i still remember seeing Juhi ma’am in Manali for one of the song shooting in her white nd black saree, i was a kid that time and she use to be my fav actress still she is ❤❤❤

- It's nostalgic to me , 26yrs ago didn't have cable TV then,, watched trailer on DD network,, couldn't watch the movie at that time ,, but many years later watched it many times,, it's such a beautiful story,, reminds me of my younger days

A classic movie with the classic Hrishikesh Saheb's typical classic type of story and comedy, always very clean and funny. Unfortunately such movies normally appeal more to the older generation as the humor is subtle and not over the top, however in my opinion I can watch this movie everyday as the movie grows on you after repeated watching, just like Jurmana, Namak Halal, Golmaal, Bawarchi etc.

My father was distributor of this movie in 4 districts in andhra ,, memorable days ,, 90 s ,, I watched the movie freely,, i used to carry reel boxes of movie in auto with theater boys,, miss u dad , miss those golden days 😢 💔 😞 😔 😪 😕 😢
