  • To me this album is about escapism through emotion. She herself described it as an "upward spiral". It's about feeling so deeply that you want to BECOME that feeling (hence the title). Most of the tracks are about escapism and finding liberation simply through just letting yourself feel how you want to feel. I just love how she conveys that message not only through her lyrics but also through her very intense vocal delivery. As an aspiring musician myself I find it so inspiring how she can build these magnificent worlds through her vocals, her visual aesthetics, the empty spaces in the production that make way for her voice to shine, how creatively she balances electronic music with organic instrumentation, and how abstract her lyrics are. She's an all around, fully realised, unique artist. Obsessed w her and this album

  • the line “they’ll find our bones and yet they won’t” in hopedrunk everasking hits so hard when you understand that she relates it to archeology as in they might find the remains of our love (or of our bodies) but they won’t understand it, she relates it to the way that even though we find ancient artifacts and somewhat know what they mean we still have trouble understanding their usage, aka their deeper meaning or nature

  • I already loved Caroline, and i love Desire, i Want to Turn into You, but Billions is her most standout track to me to date. In context of the album, it only got better, and I had already loved it for a year before the album came out. Billions is easily one of my favorite songs of the decade! There is something so starkly beautiful about the lyrics and how she sings it. In particular, where she has the distorted vocal solo in the last section, it brings me to a higher place. I live in the mountains, so hearing that while taking in the valleys and the lakes and the trees brings tears to my eyes. Yeah yeah. My personal opinion and all.... but its just SO good Good review btw :)

  • omg i was wondering if you were going to react to the new album of the human synth. I opened KZhead and there you are, clicked so fast. loved your reaction and your thoughts!! funny how you were annoyed by the smoke detector 😅 Caroline is such an interesting artist. her music is so different of what I'm used to, the production, the lyrics are so curious and confusing, her creativity is insane in all the aspects and I like her for this (tbh i almost don't get nothing of some of her lyrics at the first listen til now, it's hard to get what she saying). in my first listen of Pang, I liked about 3 songs of the album and abandoned it. but I gave it another chance, cause I was trying to expand the musicality I was used to, and every song had grown on me and having its time since then, and now i can see how incredible it is, one of my favs of all time. I think Pang was more darker and atmospheric, may be hard to digest its at first. Desire has more of a "upbeat" sound and a different, island vibe as you said, and I think that's why I like some of the songs at first. others I'll need time. some interesting facts about Desire, if you want to know: • the "hey, hey, hey" part in Welcome To My Island is a sample of a Pang's song "Look At Me Now" • the baby sound in Bunny is a Rider is the voice of the producer's child, a friend of her and he has produced some of other artists like Charli XCX • in the end of I Believe, there's a whistle, the same of Bunny is a Rider • dont know if you noticed, but the bridge of Smoke has the same melody of the "da-ra-ra" part in Pretty in Possible

    • I needed to say it as a latin american former (and lover) musician, because there's a specific thing that's bothering me a lot with the use of latin based and cultural sounds... When they're received from other countries, it's always a big stereotype that falls onto two categorizations: funny or beachy. And a rythm is not linked to its lyrics at all, we can have forró music that has really deep and reflexive lyrics, just like a pop song can. It's so sad to see the image all the pop culture (films and etc) brought in mind to the masses about the latin living. (And Beth I love you this text was not for you, but just a vent ab the stereotype itself)
