  • Alameda will save a lot of money on bonuses if they recall pro criminal DA Pamela Price.

    • If you are referring to democrats, liberal progressives as wanting to defund the police, I am all of those things and I never once wanted to, or heard a democrat say they wanted to defund the police. Fact check you you are listening to.

  • Better to go to cops than have that money funneled for homelessness which will never see results.

  • And that entire bonus goes to housing. Because that's how much they need to even live in Alameda. County, that's why they gave them such a big bonus because nobody could afford to live here to be a policeman.

  • The application process takes months. Multiple interviews, documents to submit, testing. There is no work around your schedule. They give you a time and date to come in. Cant make it because your mom died? You entire application is void. They will cite commitment issues on your end.

  • In the good old days, there’ll be 200 applicants with POST basic academy certificates (self sponsored)applying for 3 police officer entry positions. Now days it’s the opposite, 100 police trainees position opening with full benefits and cash bonuses but only 40 applicants applying. This is the problem why there’s law enforcement officers shortage today, because the good old days cops were well respected by the community who they served. Today liberal bureaucrats target cops as an evil, treating them worse than a criminal. That’s why majority of peace officers decided to retire early at 50 years old, once they’re able to draw their pension instead of losing it in the performance of their duty, like excessive force and termination. The younger generation saw all the negative propaganda anti-cop liberal bureaucrats slogan defunding the police, they chose not to serve their communities. Career criminals were released from prison saw this opportunity coming and committed more violent crimes in the community, because they knew they won’t have to pay for the consequences. Anti-cop liberal bureaucrats has their back, so they can continue their rampage in the community. Law enforcement officers in the other hands were so afraid of losing their big paychecks, fat bonus and great pensions decided to be reactive soft on crime.

    • Very well said! Total lack of respect shown to the badge these days. Who's this lady gonna call when someone is kicking down her door at 3:00 am. When that 34 seconds of a faster response time will matter!

  • Sounds like police propaganda. If a sector is having a hard time voluntarily recruiting applicants and retaining staff, the problem is the job. There are many ways to build and maintain safety -for everyone- in non-lethal and ideally positive ways. The current police force system isn’t it. PD’s need deep reform.
