  • The “invisible fire” is a dark joke on methanol fires in racing, specifically see Rick Mears. Although it’s obviously not the case in this scene, as NASCAR doesn’t use methanol fuel.

  • Things like this actually happen, since race cars usually use methane fuel. Methane in sunlight is almost unnoticeable. Because of this there has been incidents when people were on fire but no one new.
