Agree. Especially Kanepi. I like her shots. She was a junior no. 1 but has yet to win a grand slam after 24 years on the tour...not forgetting she beat several grand slam winners and top 10 players along the way. She will be 38 in June. Hope she can win a grand slam before retiring. 😍🥰
I think they were just never consistent for long enough.

@JesusLovesMe But remember, a BB only qualifies if the hair is curled into a bun, any time after a match is started with a ponytail or long form hairstyle. Andreescu and the sisters Pliskova rarely qualify, as they typically start a match and get on the court, with a BB already fashioned.

Camila wins with flare, talent, and sheer will. So hard not to appreciate her ball striking. Kaia can be a baseline nightmare but this time Camila bested her.
Camilla Giorgi should have destroyed Kanepi in straight sets no problem, but she allowed Kanepi to get back every time she had huge lead. First set from 5:2 to barely winning the set with 7:6(7:4), in the second set she wasted her 4:2 lead and lost the set with 6:7 (4:7) losing last 4 points in a tiebreak. Then she nearly blew her 5:0 lead in the third set and barely won the set with 7:6 (7:4).
@@einarsd4 It is the Giorgio way. It's more maddening than satisfying but how i love her ball striking.
@@pawshands9706 True. Giorgi almost always manages to either lose easy matches from winnable positions or manages to make her easy matches much more difficult. Giorgi is so inconsistent and erratic.
@@einarsd4 Giorgi has a habit for losing a lot of winnable matches and winning a lot of seemingly not winnable matches. I think it’s just her style of tennis really. She does win quite a few close matches, I don’t think she’s mentally that weak.

Very unprofessional to not shake the umpire's hand. Had a good opinion on Giorgi before and like her shot executions, but a small professional discourtesy like that says volumes and I really don't care for that in ANY player. I mean she WON - how does that leave you in a bad mood and to not follow decorum? How is that a good example to young Italians coming up? That's bad karma and she will keep losing when it really matters because of it.

Horrible highlights. Didn't show how Giorgi and Kanepi converted their set points in first and in the second sets respectively. WTA channel must improve on that.

Giorgi's groundstroke actually look good and she was definitely being more aggressive. She just needs to work on her serving game and she could be real contender

@JesusLovesMe But yes she's a bit of a mystery - she can look so aloof at times and then watching her almost cry when walking in to shake Pliscova's hand after winning the Canadian Open in 2021 And then the post match press conference in another tournament when she had uncontrollable giggles - her face is a joy to watch
Really, what's going on with Giorgi? She was escaping in all 3 sets, only to lost her advantage and arrive at tie breaks... Same stuff during the tie breaks, fortunately, she managed to win. She has a good level, technique and stamina, but something in her mind crashes every time.
Why didn't Giorgi give hands to the umpire in the end?
