@@KirwinWebb Please reply to me!
@@HitlerLovesAnime, more than happy to elaborate! OLED is renowned as the most colour vibrant panel your eyes will ever lay eyes upon, it has the deepest blacks, QOLED/OLED have the capacity to individually turn off pixels which IPS panels and older non-micro LED panels do not have the capacity to do, you get this awful grey-ish tint instead of true deep black. Not only that, this monitor has insane colour accuracy, with little tweaking and adjustment (which all monitors often need), it'll be professional grade. 4K 240Hz FHD 480Hz combines *FHD 240Hz*
In all seriousness, this is kinda dope. One of my challenges when picking a monitor was 1440p240 or 4k144. Being able to choose between the two sounds incredible. Unfortunately I have absolutely no use for a 500Hz monitor right now. No frame generation for me until AMD finishes figuring that out for last-gen Nvidia GPUs
Sadly FHD is not 1440p, it's 1080p. This monitor cuts the resolution down to 1/4 of it's native to get 2x the refresh. 2k (1440p) is the sweet spot for me right now. 4k at a fast refresh rate is too much for most graphics cards atm.
@@carlwillows I know, yeah. 1080p is still solid imo, my old main monitor is now my second monitor. I was just using my own past situation as an example for the dilemma that this one solves. I’m not getting one but all that said, I really hope it has the option for nearest neighbour upscaling. Not having nearest neighbour when upscaling from 1080p to 4K is my biggest gripe with high resolution displays. I’d rather have a sharp but pixelated image over a smudgy and soft one. I’d love to play risk of rain 2 at 1080p or even 540p using NN upscaling on a 4K Monitor. The pixel effect would be so cool.
@josephtimms2843 if your main is a 2k, here something to try if you haven't yet...when I play gta 5, I run the game at 4k downscaled to 2k and it makes the image much sharper imo. Only some games allow you to do this.
@@carlwillows my main is now 4K144, it took me a little while to decide between 4K144 and 1440p240 but I ultimately went with the display my GPU could better handle since DLSS looks better and has a bigger performance boost when used with 4K compared to 1440p. I’ve got better things to do with my money than pay 2 grand for a 4090 so I don’t have frame generation to boost FPS on low res high Hz displays. Hence why it’s better for my uses right now until AMD’s FG gets off the ground.
Could you really notice a refresh rate higher than 240 Hz?
Yes
I’m sure it’s slightly noticeable but you’re hitting super diminishing returns there. Going from 60hz to 144hz is a time difference of 9.72 milliseconds, whereas going from 240hz to 480hz is only a difference of 2.08 milliseconds.
Spin your mouse around in a circle real fast and becomes a full circle. It's like you have that windows effect where you give your mouse a tail. Except the high hertz is not a cheap trick. Make your mouse go in circles right now. You will see gaps.
