This is amazing, I was thinking the same thing. The gardenscape adds are absolutely insane. Get the puzzle right, or the parent of a child just dies.
They made those ads for Homescapes too and it's like "I know the game isn't that drama filled but please show the real game play" there are enough decent stories that they could make similarly Scandalous ads without lying. Like making the radio station, have an ad about "One day the music stopped" and show everyone being sad/freaked out about it and then boom, they come together and fix it with Austin [and the user]'s help! Show the "The original owner died sad and alone after abandoning this house" and then like the "Oh he was this famous puzzle guy/artist!" and then show when the different traps trigger and trap dad and be like "Can you save William?!" Or HELL even start with Austin getting a call from his parents, show the house in it's Hay Day and then do that "show up and lower the picture and OH NO!" crap which is the story that starts the entire game! There are so many elements it already has that to use their sweet characters like that and make Katherine a single mom of some random kid that is thrown out by various men, including Austin [the dude that would literally do anything for her] is so annoying.
don't forget Lilly's Garden whose add play like jersey shore-esc realty TV show
I got so sock of those ads that when you get option to try the puzzle I do what Gray does and deliberately try to murder them. Or that Kings one. I started enjoying watching him drown. I need help

15:31 The sad thing about this statement is that all Gray's done to this point is the tutorial. After you finish it, a very small % of the game is "like the ads', and abundantly turns into an absolute cash grab.
I've noticed a LOT of games have been doing that... Basically making a "shell game" to cover up the real game, a game within a game.

Now we're just waiting for Alex to incorporate level 2 from Race Master into GTA so Gray can delve further into insanity😂

I actually play Race Master a lot and yeah there's like infinite levels but of course Gray's luck strikes again and he breaks the game after the first level 😂 Spoiler Alert: The only thing that is different between the ad and the real game is probably the airplane...I haven't encountered that yet at least I honestly think Gray should try this game again because it's actually quite fun for a mobile game
One of the few games I’ve downloaded on my iPad that actually looks as good as the ads is surprisingly called car park simulator 2 multiplayer which is actually more interesting than the title suggests the graphics are really impressive, it has multiplayer and you unlock more and more cars over time. It even lets your character get out of the car and run around and has an in car viewpoint - it’s pretty authentic from what I’ve played so far, most of the time the game looks seriously downgraded from what the ad shows or from the images for it on the App Store

YES! This is what I always wanted from Gray! Bad mobile game ads are the best content and comparing it is even better 😂 I wanted this for a while haha
THIS is the start of a new series. I definitely want more of this. LOL. You always see these game ads and wonder what they actually are, and I value my phone too much to download them myself. So I'm glad Gray has stepped up for us. And of course his commentary is 100% golden.

This is something I would watch as a weekly thing. There were a few channels that would every so often do things like this, but they seem to have stopped. Would really like to see the whole "Expectation Vs Reality" of these games without having to actually get a phone, download the game, and seeing it. Plus, Grey's commentary would make it better.

That last game, Hero Rescue, was explicitly made in response to lying ads. The levels get pretty complex late game and there are even different game modes.

This one was a lot of fun. You really chose some good games to try. The doctor one looked like it was nothing but ads though and it's sad the monkey one didn't take place in a big city and stuff like it's ad. Maybe that's later in the game? Either way, keep up the good work. 👍

Gray should have played these games a bit more. All the games he rated highly become crap after playing a little longer.
I downloaded a called something superhero flying or something where you had to fly from one side of the area to the target zone but of course the first time you couldn’t make it very far as you don’t have enough power and fall into the water you had to keep pressing upgrade which meant you had to watch a video every time and each time it costs coins to upgrade which are taken away from you each time you press upgrade. Then you think oh so I must have enough power and height now but of course you still don’t quite make it - I ended up uninstalling it as it seemed like so long to do each level

I'm into this being a semi-regular thing on the channel! Comparing mobile games to their ads is definitely a thing we should be doing, for the LOLs. Though apparently you might need to play through a bit more of these games to make sure they're truly what they say on the tin. . .

8:50 true story: one time I was over at my friend's house having a few drinks and I was fairly intoxicated. His other friend brought a dog over that loved everyone except me and the guy who owned the dog said ah yeah he's nice he just growls because he dunno you try just pet him gently and he'll get used to you so I started petting him and I got a little closer and the dog growled and jumped at me and bit me in the face right on my mouth. Had 2 cuts in my upper lip and one in my lower lip and my blood was thin so it was just gushing. Got to the hospital they looked at it, cleaned it with some antiseptic wipes, waited for it to stop bleeding, and told me I'm good to leave. I asked them to stitch it up but they said no because my blood was too thin and they can't do stitches. So they walk me over to the thing to pay for my visit, they wouldn't accept my insurance, and the bill was $1800.70. I didn't even get a bandaid. All they did was wipe my face off with a Walmart brand sterile wipe and leave me sitting there for 20 minutes. I refused to pay and walked out after getting all the documents to show what happened and disputed it later and won.

i played Hero Wars for a while... after every 5 or 10 auto-battles, you get to play one of those Tower minigames. yes, it's mostly just waiting.... AND, if i remember, it tries to SELL you a SPEED UP option in a Microtransaction!

A while ago I played some stickman game that was supposed to be similar to what hero wars proposed and then after like 30 minutes they did a hard bait and switch and completely swapped art styles and gameplay

With Last War, I have played it. You REALLY have to play further into the game... then it starts being NOTHING like the ad! You didn't even get into the base building part, which is the main gameplay. Then you get the world, etc. It's basically a wash and repeat of every other game.

I am legitimately surprised how many games were reasonably close to their ads.
I forget which game it was but i played one of those like tower shooting gun upgrade games, I'm like 99% sure they didn't think it was possible to beat because if you actually reach the end you just endlessly float through the empty void until you close the app.

I was shocked how many were actually okay games and exactly like the ads. I usually play some and am like well this sucks *uninstall* so I tend to assume that about the ones that are super hard advertised.
i kinda want this to be a ongoing series, as i sometimes i wanna try them but knowing how often there nothing like the Ads, i never do. this would be both fun to watch and help me decide which ones are actually worth downloading
