  • Great review as ever. The NX500 looks like a great bike. It's also nice to see someone riding on roads I am familiar with.

  • Great job as always biker Dan and glad to see someone who can go fast on the duel carriage ways and actually show speed on the screen and will it be able to have a pillian and get it up to speed on the carriage way for distance thanks Dan

  • Thanks for bringing this ride review out Dan. I recently had the opportunity to ride a friend’s 2023 CB500X and thoroughly enjoyed it. So tempted with new NX500, and if funds ever became available I would have a difficult choice deciding on the outgoing model, which can be bought for just under £6200 (plus otr), or push the boat out for the NX. Looking forward to your long term review. Cheers

  • Another great video. 🙏 I sat on one of these at the NEC show, personally I still prefer the look of the 2023 CB500X but the TFT screen is a very nice upgrade. These are the perfect first bike and more than enough for most people. Shame they haven’t t solved the turbulent air problem that plagued the previous generation also.

    @UKbiker73@UKbiker73Ай бұрын
    • I had to get a wind deflector for my '22 as the OEM screen and even the taller touring screen had unbearable buffeting. It's almost completely solved it but it does look a bit dorky. The shorter WRS windscreen also worked decently but leaves you in the cleaner wind.

      @Thirsty_Fox@Thirsty_FoxАй бұрын
    • @@Thirsty_Fox I’m also running a deflector on my 2023 CB500x which does help, but it has serious “commuter vibes” which kills the adventure look. I fitted a rugged looking headlight guard (see profile pic) to distract from it 😂 Weirdly, my 2014 CB500x didn’t have this buffeting problem at all 🤷

      @UKbiker73@UKbiker73Ай бұрын
    • @@UKbiker73 I have a 19 with the stock screen and have no buffeting issues at all, it is a taller screen though and I'm not the most vertically blessed individual.

  • Great real world review Dan. Have you seen / rode the new Voge DS525X which has a stroked version of the CB500 engine. This looks an excellent proposition from the few reviews posted so far. Lots more equipment than the NX, a bit more oomph from the engine, a low seat height and £5.5k. It would be good if someone could do a comparison between the Voge & the Honda.

  • Just a shame that Honda only offers cruise control as an option on their larger bikes, so this and the Transalp etc have to go with out. It's annoying as the smaller bikes are still great touring machines. I'm a current CB500x owner and its the reason I will have to look elsewhere when I decide to upgrade.

Not saying these bikes are bad, but.... You were never like this once, Honda. You lead, you innovated. Why? Because you could. Lazy, lazy Honda. You're losing your way. 😔 Really looking forward to the upcoming CB1000 Hornet. Yes, it's powered by a derivative of an earlier 'Blade engine but still hoping it'll be infused with some Honda magic of old. 🤞

  • Nice review. I am looking at downsizing in the future as finding the GSX1250 ( an awesome bike that I love) a lump to push around as the years sadly advance on me.. The 500 would keep me riding many more years. The only observation I have as a solo tourer is how 'stressed' the bike feels at legit road speeds (70mph) without getting tiresome.. typical speeds i ride at when abroad.. I saw on your video (21:45) at 64mph doing 5K revs in 6th... other reviews sort of indicate over 70 not its best place..

    • First just the sheer power. I came from a CB650r and wanted a more straight up bike with more comfort. So the dealer let me switch bikes for free. I thought that the 500 was fun enough but I really missed the power on long highway roads with a passenger. And the bike running just 3800 rpm at 100kmh. And yes I want to hooligan around sometimes and the 48 hp wat not fun enough for me.

Or a v strom 650 ? The NX build quality is certainly better than the suzukis, as is the screen and the versys wont get anywhere near 75-80 mpg. Im struggling between an ADV 350 or this. The design resembles the himalayan 411 which is a big success in indian markets. If honda had placed this bike's price in correct segment like its competitors in india we would have seen this bike more often on indian roads. • Yeah cb500x in green would be my pick I do have a 2019 model so has been improved but now they have released this model I would worry about owning a short lived discontinued cb500x in green improved suspension and twin rotors didn’t really need this front end fairing which with upper crash protection looks iffy in my opinion, on the fence sorry Honda

  • I’m a little miffed as to why Honda is scrapping the CB500X and moving it to a NX500? Doesn’t seem to have fundamentally changed the bike. (Made some things much nicer - I’ll admit) Saying that these have always been excellent series of bikes - I think Honda knocked it out of the park with the 500. I’m a 100% a Honda rider and can comfortably see one in my future. (Once I am forced to give up Honda super fours)

  • As a Life long Royal enfield fan. I got to say there is something about how this bike looks have got to me. I haven't ridden it, but my preference for next touring bike has switched from Himalayan 450 to this one purely on aesthetics. I usually prefer classic looks but there is something about this. I cannot even explain why I like how this looks, just one of those things. A bit like saying my type of woman is A and falling for B.

  • Why quite heavy bike? I'd rather say it's on the mid-low range. Of course it's not as light as a KTM 390 Adventure, but it's less than 200kg wet. A lot of naked bikes are heavier than that; not to mention very popular adv bikes.

BUT I just came back from a 700mile tour and the bike and seating was just Awesome! Would a Tiger do it better even the 660, of course they would but… still dang amazed at what a modern classic can do. Nice up. Third bike Will be either the bike you just rode OR the Tiger 660… yes more expensive but the Honda clocks are Way better than the Tiger 660

  • I’m just not feeling it with this feeble attempt by Honda. The Aprila Tuareg 660 blows this out of the water. There are just too many choices in this segment that are superb all allrounders, with far superior power, suspension, and electronics, and good on and off road performance right out of the box. Having been a long term Honda rider, I love the reliability, but it is just too hard to ignore the new generation of adventure bikes available in the market. To me, Honda missed a real opportunity to provide a worthy update on the CB500X and offer a true small displacement twin Adventure bike, but instead chose to stay the course with minor updates and new plastic, which to me is a real shame.

    @Interbeing_CDN@Interbeing_CDNАй бұрын
    • The first mistake here is comparing it to the Taureg. The CB500 and now this NX are aimed much lower. And they deliver in spades for the price and power output. They're unfussy honest bikes and I think most get that. If you want more power or complexity, look elsewhere. 👍
