A confidence held in humility I love; one with a "take that" or "in your face" showboating attitude I do not, even though it has become the norm more than the exception in sports today. But in terms of play I could hardly have been happier with our boys all through the tournament. A great showing for sure! I actually very much enjoyed the whole tourney from start to finish. The only thing I felt was questionable was some of the officiating. Go USA!

Dominating Sweden on their home ice, beating Canada in gold medal games in Saskatoon, Montreal, and Edmonton. A lot has changed since the US shocked the Soviets in 1980, a Soviet team that embarrassed a team of NHL all stars a year prior. The United States is a dominant hockey power, without question.

On the international stage, winning with humility commands respect from the rest of the world. Winning with arrogance like this reinforces the negative stereotype that the USA already has. Show some class for a change USA. Celebrate with your teammates. Leave the crowd out of it… at least on the international stage. 🤦🏻 P.S. Not saying that they didn’t deserve to win the game. But yeah, they are kids and not accustomed with the hockey culture of Sweden so they got rattled/shaken by the fans and took it personal, that was clear. In a way you can’t blame them for that. And yes, they absolutely deserved the win in the end. Even if the display was one of the more classless ones I seen in sports, I still get the circumstance: the immaturity and inexperience made them act up because they felt threatened and exposed. They are all just kids, so it is understandable and excusable. Just don’t fool yourself with your fantasy chains, as you are prone to do. It was a deserved win, not a worthy attitude.
