  • My dad found it absolutely hilarious that a film like _Deadpool_ has a gag reel when the whole movie is basically a feature-length gag reel.

    • When she wins a huge decision from her, "slam dunk" (actual term from a Lawyer who studied the case) wrongful termination lawsuit against Disney, you will remember... ;)

      @SogoTX@SogoTX2 ай бұрын
    • @@SogoTXYou come off like a fanboy. Disney isn't exactly well known for losing lawsuits. They certainly have kept Desantis crying in knots and trying to duck out. Now allow me to go over this like a -real- lawyer. To prove wrongful termination, Carano must demonstrate that her employer terminated her in violation of California labor laws or public policy. In California and under federal law applicable in all states employees have legal protection against termination for exercising their right to free speech, especially if the speech pertains to matters of public concern. However, the extent of these protections can vary depending on what words were used, the nature of the employment relationship, and applicable state laws. To succeed in her discrimination claim, Carano must show that she was in a protected class (such as gender or sex), she suffered an adverse employment action (such as being fired or denied a promotion) because of her membership in a protected class, and she was qualified for the job that she lost. Disney and the other defendants are likely to defend against Carano’s claims by claiming that her termination was justified based on her social media activity and its impact on the company’s reputation. The Disney defendants may also assert that Carano’s employment agreement included provisions allowing for termination in the event of behavior deemed detrimental to the company. Additionally, Disney may argue that Carano’s posts were a breach of any social media or code of conduct policies in her contract. The outcome of Gina Carano’s lawsuit against Disney will depend on various factors, including the specific terms of her employment agreement (which we don't know) and the strength of the evidence presented by both parties. So you tell me, after reviewing this, do you think Disney one of the largest entertainment companies in the world wouldn't have provisions in their contract to protect their image if an actor goes off rails and makes comments that can be perceived as racist, transphobic and antisemitic? Personally, that is pretty hard to believe. Odds are, this will get tossed.

      @Jnaathra@Jnaathra2 ай бұрын
    • Nah, what killed her career was the hypocrites at Lucasfilm who was letting their MC star post crazy shit on his socials, while her luke warm take got her fired. ACTUAL misogyny and gender discrimination at work.

      @sigmacademy@sigmacademyАй бұрын
    • @@sigmacademy For anyone coming along that wants the context on the tweets. Here you go. I think you can figure out why Disney did not side with her. Gina Carano made several controversial Tweets comparing being a republican in modern-day America to being a Jew during Nazi-occupied Germany during WWII. She further went on to say that republicans were being systematically targeted by the American government and people, as though their political views were an immutable characteristic. She also made a few comments mocking the use of pronouns in her bio. Pedro Pascal had made a tweet with two photos; one showing young people imprisoned in Nazi concentration camps, and one with children trapped in cages at the United States border. He also released a Tweet shortly after the Kyle Rittenhouse story with the names and photos of those killed, saying rest in peace.
