My Motivational story will truly change your life. This video is very important to me, and it has the power to greatly change and influence your life in a positive way.
I know the title of “change your life” is very much overused by this point, same with the word “Emotional” but the concept in this video, if you really internalize it, will change your life in almost all ways. The moment when I understood this idea, was the moment when I truly became happy in my life. I hope you enjoy this video, and I hope you go on to do amazing things in your life.

Hey Mitch I am currently on the same path in life as you. I was windering if you would like to chat sometime
Isn't by this video you want some people like the way you want to be..?🤔 I would not listen to you..😐 I would lead my life as the way I want😏😏😏
"Its better to live half a lifetime being who you truly are than to live 100 lifetimes pretending to be the person you aren't. " I'll never forget that

Superior Octopus well in that case then you can’t be that natural self because that’s evil. Instead here the aim should be to improve this natural self into being a better individual.

Bold of you to think it will change my life
Haha 😂😂
It just caused me anxiety - hated the video
Why did you hate it?
@@MasculineMan it was very good mitch. Great point, we have to stop living other ppls lives and live our own
@@MasculineMan Was just about to start my day but saw your message and had to take the time to give you a proper response :). The over stressing and over using of fear psychology only makes people dealing with anxiety feel worse not better. I suffer from constant anxiety about death or disease affecting me or loved ones, and millions of others do too. The whole story revolves around the reality that we will all die some way sometime and need to enhance our journey during our living years - but there is no real emphasis on the key messages you end with - aka not caring what others think about how you should live. When I clicked your video based on the photo, I assumed you'd give positive and outward looking tips to success like many other motivational speakers. It ends up being a sad story of regret and disease, even if it ends on a positive note. However, over stressing death and disease is not the way to motivate people. I would hope you would motivate me with your own stories, your own accomplishments, and tricks and things you learned through life that you wished someone taught you. Finally, you seem smarter and with better content than to resort to click bait all the time. Your thumbnails stress that everything you say is life changing - it doesn't have to be all the time. If it's day changing, or week changing, that sometimes is good enough. Thank you for asking and I hope my answer captured my way of thinking about the video.
If you "find yourself", you'll lose those around you who have put so much effort creating you into their image. And that's a good thing.
Exactly
Pfsif right! I find it hard to relate to my parents anymore.
I try to be the person that I think those around me need me to be if I ask my self who am I I truly dont know
Pfsif So can someone answer me this video is telling me that instead of going to college and become a doctor just like my family thinks I should do in my future, that I should do what I like and I like to sing and act........
@@zeynebmohammed2614 yeah you can become an actor or a singer.. There's nothing wrong in that😉. It's your life man. Live it to its fullest

When David got home from the surgery, he started to think about how is he going to pay millions of dollars he owes for the procedure
As someone who lives by faith and takes many risks I can tell everyone here that you should follow your dreams, but do not do it alone. Trust me, you can't do it alone and your journey will be way better with help. So if someone offers help, take it. If you want to try something new, ask for help!
Something I can relate with.. The surroundings put so much on us that our ability to think what we are happy with is lost. Sometimes it doesn't feel being satisfied even after achievements we wanted. We need a source of positive vibes which I think is difficult to find. People are constantly making negative remarks and pushing us towards their decided so called 'achievements'.

I discovered I had a brain tumour when I was 27yo. It took 2 operations to remove it. During my months of recuperation I thought many a time that "this is a sign" and "what should I really be doing with my life?" I had time to ponder but that is all I did. I recovered.I went back to work.I am still in the same career and its now 27 years on. I am 54. I have long studied, meditated, done the Tony Robbins shows etc trying to find the "answer". It still eludes me. I am now married with 2 great kids and suppose would say I am generally conent. But really happy and fulfilled ? Alas,no. I may be asking for too much - after all there is so much suffering in the World so gratitude for what we have is certainly the right attitude. However,my search goes on......
Mitch, I’m watching all your videos and you are slowly changing my life. Thank you for sharing these incredible and important life principles with me. I appreciate everything you speak about. Please never stop making videos. 🙏
Thank you for this Ive been struggling with balancing my own goals with what others tell me to do and this video really made it more clear.
I watch this video to improve my speaking skills. Your voice is so attractive . Thanks for sharing 😍 😘
Wow, I'm feeling all of those feelings of "Who am I?" now at the age of 22 and it's the saddest feeling ever, realizing that you don't know yourself. I feel empty. This is real thought-provoking I've never heard of "false-self" as a concept in psychology this is helpful
your 23 year now, you will likely be lost for a long time to come. It's called life
Despite the fact that I really hold the message of this video close to myself already, this majorly triggered me still- the way you told the story was amazing and intense. VERY good job on this video Mitch!
Thank God for all of the awakenings going on and for people like this sharing the message 🙏🏾
Going off the grid and doing some serious soul searching for one year is a great start, no smart phone, no television, no radio or internet, no porn. A complete system reboot. Journaling your thoughts, reading self development books and traveling the world.
"I'm the person the world told you to be" I felt that
😢
I had a very similar life experience at 40. Life gave me some serious punches, and I have managed to rise stronger. I have completely ruined my former comfort zone , and started to think and live completely differently. I have found the new myself who has many goals in life, but the real thing for me what matters is the fighting itself. So I push myself, constantly crossing my own borders, working for many aims step by step - and I started to respect myself and enjoy the challanges. I am just at the beginning of this progress which will last - I hope- until my final day.
That was an amazing story. Wow thank you so much Mitch! I am truly grateful you made thus video. Very eye opening. I really need to re-evaluate myself in my current life situation.
I can seriously relate always trying to fit everyone's expectations never getting a chance to be who you truely are inside till the day you die that is no way to live a happy life in constant fear just be brave enough to be yourself and breack the cycle!!!!!!!!!
So I just listened to someone that told me to not listen to anyone that says how I should live even though they just told me how to live?!
Yes, you did. And I did too, a little confusing, huh?
No. He did not Tell you How to live. He told you that you should live the life you Want. If you can not spot the difference here you probably did not get the message of the video
Recently coming up on 20 yrs in the military and about to retire. All I can say is thank you, I didn’t know what that “person” was called (false self). You were spot on. I really needed to know still being pretty young (37) and able to retire decades earlier than most, while approaching that cross roads of what the hell do I want to do with the rest of my life. Thanks again.
This is an inspirational story to me. I learned a lot from this video. Thank you for making such a good video.❤❤❤
I was captivated the entire time, thank you so much Mitch. I've been going through Psychodynamic therapy for about 5 years now and I could 100% relate to the concept of the False Self by becoming aware of its existence and manifestations and trying to shed it with every session. I'm yet to fully discover my real self and shed my False Self but I know one day I'll get there! The video has inspired me to introspect some more so thank you very much!
“David there is no easy way to say this, I’m your twin brother.”

This animation and story is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, Really well done, that head turn and talking is animated so expertly!
This video is good for a student like I'm 17..this gives me an understanding to choose the right destination for me thank you
same to me.im 16
Strongly relate to the video. Not the part where I have/had a terrible health condition to the point of a life and death situation but the part where I felt lost about my own identity and why I did stuff because allowed myself to be a person that allowed her image to be molded by others since I craved attention. I play and make music, I can draw, I can sew a handful of stuff, do wood carving and am even pretty good at some of the games I enjoy. Problem with all that was that I learned and did all of it because it illicited a "Woah!" from a lot of people but there was barely any passion from behind all that stuff. Well, ther was passion at first but then it slowly turned to some kind of attnetion skeeing. When I quit Facebook and cut down my interaction heavily with social media like Instagram, a lot of the trades I'd learned felt empty and useless to me. No passion. For a good two years or so I kinda stopped doing all those because I realized I was doing it all for looking like a productive being and not for fun at all. Now I'm finding a re-kindled love for all of these lately and a lot of it could really get me somewhere even. I'm at least having fun at what I do now and trying to find legitimate success for illustration/character design which was one of the first creative things I learned to do at a young age and still love.
I know it has been some time since you commented this, but I hope you have been able to pursue your dream and I sincerely hope you are much happier now
This is very inspiring! Thank you for the support you give us!
Being a false self really hurts tbh, growing out of it can be even more painful. But at the end it can really help you develop your true self.
Such a great channel and pretty helpful 👍🏻👍🏻
You cannot always be what you want, responsibilities, etc can be a barrier. And also following your passion is a good thing if it suits your natural talent. A person passionate about becoming a singer with a bad voice is not a good choice. No matter how society sees him/her.
FAIZAN SHAH True
A bad voice? First of all: bad is subjective, and second: singing is training. My father left the room when my sister was singing, and said " i cant listen to this anymore" when my sister still was very young. He didnt mean it in a bad way, he actually supportet her and paid her Singing lessons. She later got a sholarship for a musicacadamy and is now earning money with it. Not much money but its enough for her. And yes: sometimes you gonna have to do a "normal job" in order to support what you truly wants. But excuses will always pop up and problems will always occure, but if i take a look at all the experts and professionals, i see none of them had an easy life bevore they went famous. If you REALLY want something, you will stop focusing on problems and start to look for solutions. Dont blame any other person or circumstance for what you did. All choices are made by us and lead us to the point where we are right now. its up to you a full 100%.
Man, I love you thank you for making this amazing content
Wow, powerful message towards the end. Thank you so much for reminding this!
It really represent what I feel now. Hopefully I can start to live my "own life" in 2020.
Wow, I was out for YT for a while and I wanted to see this channel again, Back then this was *THE MUSCULAR MAN* I was shocked it Changed to Mitch Manly
I loved this video and the meaning it tells us all. However, many of us don't really know who we are and what we really want out of life growing up unfortunately. We watch movies, idolize celebrities, look up to famous athletes and older adults and try to follow their lead. Notice how kids growing up dress up like their favorite celebrity? In the end, most of us will end up mirroring someone else's life. You are truly blessed if you can be original and do what you like to do in life without much societal influences - that's when you've found out what fulfills you the most in life.
As I experience it every day, it is difficult to live according to it. There are definitely thoughts of: "how do I pay my bills", " now I pursued this kind of career, I'm already 40, 45, 50 years old, is it really possible to change everything?", etc., etc. It's really great that you encourage people to live up to their dreams but stupid reality brings everyone quickly down to earth. Of course I'm convinced that everyone should try to discover his/her best, but this journey is definitely not easy...
I agree, I wish we could just follow what makes us happy. But not all of us have the talent to chase our dreams and be compensated enough to be happily be confortable. Our loved ones and children rely on not only our love but with a family my children need me to provide. Not so easy, but I get the concept and the message. 😿
i find it really saddening that even in this video the end resolution is about travelling and do something creative. i know it is not the point of it and they just wanted to show a contrast. but im triggered that society pushes this idea as the ultimate path to become happy and find yourself. that is the real social pressure...
Ikr....I just wanna live close to nature, just enjoy the simple pleasures of life....
What if David was 'meant' to be a serial killer? But he suppressed his true desires & conformed to the expectations of his society. Not all forms of conforming is bad. It's one of the factors to building a civilized society. Just saying.
Right! I would rather become fake gold deceiving others rather than pure shit!
Like in the show Insatiable
Yes at the beginning of your life, as a baby you know nothing and are like a sponge, absorbing as much knowledge from your elders as you can, not questioning them because you know they've been here longer than you and know whats going on better, but as you grow upand mature, there comes a point when its healthy to introspect and question the things you've been taught, your actions, how you might be negatively influenced by your surroundings or beliefs you've been taught, reevaluate, etc...
@@Alex-qv9eo Well, if you're constantly deceiving yourself as pure shit that you're gold, eventually it'll catch up with you, but if you realize you're pure shit, you can make a difference to change that :)
Fair statement 👍🏻

I agree with you 100% My whole life ive grown up living my own life for me only, no matter what anyone said. The thought did cross my mind that I knew I couldn't be the way the guy was in this video ever, but I could understand that its easy to be trapped in a state of dogma if particular comments are said to you over and over again and by those around you.. and others intend to take others opinions on board instead of their own. I realised & knew myself from a young age and tried to help others, live their own lives. I wondered why I could never get any joy. I realised I cannot help people see they arent living their own life.. they need to realise it on their own.

This sounds very recognizable. I had been in a relation for 12 years and somehow inhibited my true nature to fulfill the role of her ideal partner. I was living my life in function of her and lost my own identity along the way. Until a started getting feelings for a new coworker that embodied every trait that I knew myself to have had, but slowly faded. She awoke that spark in me and it felt like my soul had woken up all of a sudden, after being in hibernation for so long. If you wonder what it took me to wake up from this numb state: it took getting real with my emotions, listening to what they were telling me instead of trying to suppress them, mediated by perceived expectations of the environment. I needed to shut down the rational voice that was trying to convince me of just keeping on, and explore what my true desires were underneath that, being held prison by my own mind.
Beautiful video👌👌Great message and the reality of most of the people 😔

Hahahahha u call me loser it was a joke I have a fucking perfect life with a Tesla and a Mercedes gtr and owning 2 businesses
It is better to live half a life, knowing who you are, than to live a full life not knowing yourself. Very wise advice.
You've pretty much summarised all the stuff I have thought about at age 15, trying to get my shit together, so many people just go along life not thinking about where they will head, all my friends, family just have gone along life not thinking of anything.
I always cry after the semester classes ending, I feel lost and empty My mother and father always pushed me to this job cause that will be good for me and they try to give example a people who live success with this job, and they push me to get married at 25 or 27 And I feel not, I think I will not like them, and I dont wanna what my parents said, then we became arguing each other until they got mad Now I feel empty no idea what to do next
Harry James Potter Try to find something you like or enjoy and do that. If you have to follow them for now, do it. You won’t have to that job for all your life. For now, don’t let the future overwhelm you. Find joy in little things.
@@risewithzam.7185 I found something which I can to do enjoy and my parents mock what I did and yeah they are tiger parents as you know
It's your life. I was in the same situation and ended up with chronic fatigue syndrome. Now my life is over at 35. Trust me. Life your life. It's yours and you only have 1. Do with it what you want. You will live 100 years max, and 100 years from then nobody will even remember you. So do whatever you want.
@Harry I understand. You seem to want their validation. If they aren’t physically stopping you from doing what you enjoy, so what if they mock you? Have you ever listened to Tony Robins? Find him on KZhead. You have one shot at life. Don’t be miserable because you want to be accepted. I had parents like yours who had a specific path for me and I struggled against the path. As I got older, I slowly found my path and we are fine.
I don’t wanna say but sometimes you need to wait until whatever you can do by yourself. Until you can live independent without any parents’s support just follow their steps. Later when you can do with your own money, then just don’t give that shit, whatever they said.
the last part of the animation where people can be seen have been listening to themselves and becoming what they want was truly magnificent. but try telling that to a somalian poor kid who out of hunger probably is thinking about whether he should try some tree leaves or not as he can't find any food.. sad world man.. in this world money is fuel dude. which in turn makes it impossible in 90% cases to chose to pursue one's wish/dream. while less than 10% of the population hold over 90% of the wealth, hell of a balance you get!
This video genuinely changed my life. Thank you
I really needed this🙏🏽❤️
