When I was 10, I toutch a Fireworm and held it to my hands for some time, after I couldn't stop crying, my parents rushed me to the hospital, the ointments that they put on my hands made the aftermath end the next day. Very irresponsible for that chanel not mentioning that option, they brag about giving helpful advises but they don't.

    • It’s harsh to say it’s inappropriate that the channel didn’t mention that if anything happens to go to the hospital. It’s not their responsibility to make sure people get help. Their main responsibility is when they say do not preform this at the beginning of the video. People can do their own research about what to do if they do come across the fireworms. I know that sounds rude and I promise that’s not my intention. I know they pride off of being helpful but that’s not the reason for the channel. Yes it’s not smart they act as if they pride on that and that can mislead people but there are other resources to see how to protect yourself in these situations

The experience is dose-specific, so one day, the fireworm might rate at a 5/10 on the BSI, But on a different day, it can rate a 9.5/10.

  • Hm, so it depends on the amount of spines on your skin. I mean, if just a few spines or small area of your body is affected, it won´t be that painful (compared to what Mark felt) - resulting in a lower score. The fireworm score is apparently the one that might fluctuates most.

    • @@relicdad88 they usually get brought in as stowaways on wild-collected corals and live rock (basically stone covered in macro-algae and beneficial bacteria that is really good for aquariums). So people would go out and grab this stuff from the wild, and the fireworms living in the rock already would just get taken along for the ride. I killed them by dropping them in a cup of freshwater. Due to the molecular gradient of saltwater (which they breathe) and freshwater (which they cannot breathe) it basically pulls all the saltwater out of their bodies and forces all the freshwater inside of them which kills them instantaneously. It’s a very humane way of dealing with them.

  • White vinegar is also really great for relieving really bad sunburn! Found that out when I visited my dad in Florida a few years back and got severely burnt. Had multiple big blisters that you could just see grow right infront of your eyes and my dad told me to put white vinegar on it and thought he was joking (he liked to joke around and thought he was seeing if I’d do it and it would make it burn or something) but sure enough as soon as he poured it on my neck/shoulders it was IMMEDIATE relief.

    • The bites of snakes Sting but it's not the pain that's the issue like most insects and invertebrate. Its necrosis and paralysis that's the issue. Ive been bitten on the neck by a 4ft ball python. It felt like a hard slap initially, its teeth got stuck in me so when i pulled it off it was like velcro made of razors. Besides a ton of blood and being little light headed, I went about my day because the pain was gone.

  • I get small versions of those in my fish tank. they used to bother me, but they do help clean and there's no getting rid of them. I've never been stung by them. I can't really put my hands in the tank currently because the fish bite. they can't really hurt me but its startling, which results in water everywhere when my hands come out at light speed lol.

  • When I was a little kid I was out on a family friend'e boat (decent size boat) and I was trying to walk around the side and accidentally grabbed on to a fiberglass antenna that was frayed a bit right where I grabbed it. So I got a nice palm full of fiberglass in my hand. Needless to say, that's as close as I ever want to come to experiencing what this thing feels like. And it's not THAT easy to pull out fiberglass.
