@ClankyRochet3 жыл бұрын
No, when a bolt is tightened to a degree it is stretching the bolt. Any bolt that is tightened to a degree will never be reused again. The click from the torque wrench is tightening to a specific torque, you can then use any normal ratchet with a dial attached to stretch the bolt to the degree it needs to be.

Good video! This is also possible on the car, after removing many parts. Garages well equipped prefer taking the engine out to gain time
Isn't taking out the engine and putting it back more time consuming than removing some parts around in the engine compartment? I thought that taking out the engine is done for comfort of work and thus for better accuracy, it also helps to spot various other issues on the engine and components around it.

Is that angle dial act as a torque wrench?
No, when a bolt is tightened to a degree it is stretching the bolt. Any bolt that is tightened to a degree will never be reused again. The click from the torque wrench is tightening to a specific torque, you can then use any normal ratchet with a dial attached to stretch the bolt to the degree it needs to be.
That Crank sprocket is keyed to the crankshaft and the Chain and the Sprocket has mark that has to line. So what do you gain by using that crankshaft timing tool in this job? ...answer is noting! you just loose time.
Makes it look so easy , try doing it in car . So much for the shite line the car manufacturers sold us mechanics that you don’t have to worry about timing chains , that would have been the case if they hadn’t made the chains out of chocolate
iain hunter what is made of chocolate is the guides... like on the v8 bmw
Patricio Garcia not on most timing chains that I have replaced, K12 Micra chains used to stretch after on,y a few years as did almeras , never replaced one that had broken guides
Simplex chains are crap. Duplex last forever

The degree is to stretch the bolt, if you Google torque to yield bolts it will explain why its needed for certain parts on the car.
@@mrsweete9065 I understand the principal of these types of bolt, but fail to see why this cannot be quoted as figures in Nm.
@@nigelmitchell351 copied from Google as I didn't know either: The purpose of applying degrees of rotation is to ensure that all the bolts are brought to their yield points more accurately than a simple torque value ever can, because a prescribed rotation takes into account the fact that only about 10 to 15 percent of a torque value results in a usable clamping force

@@jonsweet8153 Yes i did. It's not easy, but not impossible. Dont forgot that this engine is not for this car. Is there accidentlly. Nissan had only 9 months to build this model. Have to prepare tools and special gasket silicone. You will need electric torque wrench for the belt crankshaft pulley and after that to fit it back (better put back new seal) adjustable torque wrench and angle tool as well. You need probably to remove everything from the face of the car including the radiator and intercooler to have access. There got some trick to remove the water pump pulley as well ( yes you have to remove it). You will need also 2 lifting jacks. I used one hydraulic bottle and one scissors. Be careful to not drop the engine one the ground. I did it 😂 but was not fatal.
