Bathroom Remodel | Part 12 - Making and Installing the Pocket Door
In this video, I will make the bathroom door to match the front door of the house that we made last year. We're installing a pocket door to save on space. The primary purpose of having the glass panels in the bathroom door is so that daylight can pass through and into the hallway when the door is closed. But who else has a bathroom door that matches their front door? 🙂
In this series of videos I will be transforming an awkwardly laid out 5ft x 7ft bathroom into a 7ft x 7ft bathroom with modern updates, a curbless shower with a glass panel, a pocket door, and an LED lighted shower niche.

Lovin your content. Watched every minute of the island countertop. Glad to see you used Johnson hardware. Top of the line. I did 8' tall bypass closets and the wheels were so smooth that the doors wouldn't stay closed. Just a little out of level. Those little white plastic guides? They go on the face under the trim. Keep up the good work!!!
This is literally ASMR for woodworkers😂
Very nice, I'm building confidence to try this. One modification I will make is to groove the door bottom, insert aluminum c-channel and use a floor guide rather than the plastic pinch type guide.
Had to turn my computer around so my basic pocket door wouldn't be jealous after seeing your beautiful creation. Outstanding door.
Haha! That's funny. The last episode (for now) and final reveal will be tomorrow. Happy holidays!
Dads come in really handy sometimes.
I love the look of that door! I love pocket doors. I was so excited when you said at the start of this series that you were going to make one. Not disappointed!
looks awesome, love your channel.
Mike when I saw the white oak door, I thought, wow, that has to weigh a lot. Your daughter's help on the installation of the door was a needed assist--great teamwork! I love pocket doors but your door is really spectacular! Nice work.
Thanks, Paul. Happy holidays!
People say not to watch videos before bed, but I fall right asleep with the relaxing music and the calming drone of power tools
I do the same and it works really well for me.
More great work Mike. Really like the quarter sawn white oak.
I've been in love with this door ever since you made the first one! Hopefully I will get the chance to make one for my house soon. Beautiful job as always.
Amazing work, Mike! Really well done! 😃 The idea of the glass was fantastic! Really beautiful how it turned out! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊 And merry Christmas!
This door turned out amazing!! Great job!
Thanks! The epoxy made the glue-up way less stressful compared to the last time when I used Titebond Extend. It's definitely my adhesive of choice when a long open time is required.
Beautiful as always! Why didn't you make a slot to put the glass and used this small piece of oak?
A slot would have worked and it would have made it far easier, but I felt that the door would be too plain, so that's why I used the strips to add some three dimensional detail.
@@Woodumakeit ohh... makes sense, it looks really nice.
@@nandobarreto2 Thanks!
Did you also use shellac seal coat on the vanity drawers and panels?
For the vanity, I sprayed the urethane directly onto the wood without using any shellac to seal it. It might have been smarter to use shellac on the vanity, as well, so that the color would match the door, but the color difference is really not very noticeable.
Ok. Im not super experienced with wood finishes. I’m in the process of attempting to make this. Got the box and face frame made up. I’ve been following the whole series to transform my bathroom! Really great step by step content.
what are the sizes and depth of your dado cuts?
I don't remember exactly, but probably about 1/2" thick and about 1.5" deep.
Why sand the wood while its wet?
I was sanding while the glue was wet. It helps to get a bit of fresh sawdust embedded in the glue.
@@Woodumakeit nice i will give that a try when i do certain glue ups, ty
