First Impressions of MONGOLIA : From Soviet Era to Nomadic Life

Mongolia used to be a big white spot for me on the map, it always inrigued me, and finally I am here! I started my trip on the border with Mongolia in Russia - Ulan Ude, the capital of Buryatia republic. Then headed to Ulaanbaatar and further to the steppes to stay with a nomadic family and learn about country's Soviet heritage and nomadic traditions.
I've always dreamt about traveling in Mongolia, and it wouldn't be possible without
📌 nomaadglamping.com - Nomaad Glamping Tours. I definitely was impressed, so I recommend :)

    • Dear Eli. It is perfectly OK, to do what you feel, no matter what other people think you should do. For me are videos about Paris or San Francisco boring. And i am happy, that there is someone like you, who is showing us "russian world" from Black see to Kamchatka. Including ex-soviet countries and countries which were part of that "russian world" , like Mongolia. Because of your videos, i am not "average idiot" fed by dumb western TV propaganda about Russia (drunk illiterate gopniks, poverty, dry toilets,...), because you are showing that regions as they really are. 👍💚

It’s our second home and we’re celebrating the day we’re finally going back. Edit: Mongolians value education a lot! That’s why schools are mostly even more modern than government buildings. And parents are doing everything (!) for their children’s education. I always admired them for that.

  • Superb Eli! The aerial shots were nicely integrated. I traveled there for two weeks by train from Beijing on the way to Moscow in 1992 just after the USSR had collapsed and their economy was in shambles. We had to sneak our relatively fresh food in from China and eat in basements while in the capital but everyone was so resilient and hopeful. I could tell so many great stories form that land. Our driver was drunk all the time and lost but there was nothing to crash into on the steppe so we drove from Ger to Ger (Yurt) asking for directions and became guests automatically. They plied us with fermented horse milk before sending us off again so we were always drunk too!

I’m so impressed with Soviet era cultural heritage. I have been learning Russian language in high school for 5 years with my teacher Tatiana Anatolevna.

Your exploration from the bustling capital of Ulaanbaatar to the vast and scenic steppes is really cool and interesting. As someone who has a strong desire to travel but is currently limited by circumstances, your detailed representation of the trail and your experience was nothing short of enthralling. Your attention to detail, both during filming and editing, is excellent and deeply appreciated. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences!

  • I love the video. It's beautiful. It's the first time I've seen Mongoli. Your journey through Mongolia sounds absolutely captivating! Starting from Ulan-Ude, transitioning into the vibrant cityscape of Ulaanbaatar, and then immersing yourself in the vast, serene steppes with a nomadic family must offer a profound glimpse into both the historical Soviet influence and the enduring traditions of Mongolia. Experiencing the blend of urban life and the timeless nomadic lifestyle firsthand is truly a unique adventure. Enjoy every moment of your exploration.

  • Eli, Thank you. You never fail to please us ..with your wonderful adventures. You are a trailblazer, and so you surpass all those conformists who only want to visit the boring global “ hotspots. I love the way you lend your full attention to a nomadic tribesman telling you of his migrations among the steppes. You hang on his every word, with utmost respect....as if you understand the language he is speaking. And, I love the music you chose to accompany this episode....especially that piece with a clip from an American Wild West melody.

    • @@ElifromRussiaPROPAGANDA W O R K S ! You are not credible... Your father is now in good company with thousands of dead Russians and Ukrainians... And what about your friends ? Your beloved little brother is ready to fight and die ? You are not credible. You speak five languages, you are good, you are sensitive. Very good. In all these years, not a word against the war... You are not credible. You talk about Russian culture. What appears today is only culture of death... You are not credible. Autocracy, repression, censorship, torture and no outrage, only silence... You are not credible. Indiscriminate bombing, rape, looting, energy blackmail, economic and global destabilisation... You are not credible. But you are Russian... This is not politics. It is humanity. And those who read you know it. You are not credible. Children murdered, deported, old men and women refugees in foreign lands, with nothing left... You are not credible. Lies, propaganda, lies again, false motives, interests and justifications for an unprovoked and unjustified 'special military operation'... You are not credible. Nuclear threats, continuous violations of signed international agreements, violence, and more violence, despite international appeals... You are not credible. It is not politics. It is terrorism, it is terrible, it is war. You are Russians... It is not politics. You are not credible. You travel, monetizing and live serene and detached, you celebrate and are happy as if nothing happened. You are not credible. Thousands of Putin's willing executioners... It is only a culture of fear and death. And you, otherwise, belong to it and support it... MORE THAN TWO 2 YESRS OF WAR ! RUSSIANS WAKE UP ! STOP HYPOCRISY !

  • Such a rich nomadic culture! I always admired Mongolian way of life and their culture, and also their history. The beautiful scenery of plains in which the nomads live, and their horses and cattle could feed off. It is very interesting to see how they adapted to the modern way of living in which the nomadic way of life isn't really compatible anymore. I would really like to visit the country sometime in my life. Thanks for sharing the beauty of the country!
