An Irishman has been arrested in Liverpool and flown to Belfast where he is being questioned in connection with the murder of Robbie Lawlor.
One of the most dangerous and feared criminals in Irish history, Lawlor was gunned down in Belfast in 2020.
Niall talks to Irish Independent crime correspondent Ken Foy about the complex web of underworld figures who wanted Lawlor dead.

Robbie Lawlor was shot on Etna Drive, in the Ardoyne, Belfast. A place where many things happened during the Troubles, and where Captain Nairac patrolled shortly before he vanished near Forkhill in the witching hours of I5th May 1977...Time makes ghosts of us all, and the Ardoyne has more ghosts than most 🚔🇬🇧🔥🇮🇪
He didnt vanish he got bundled into a car outside a pub after pretending to a republican from belfast, taken away and shot

This is absolute BS. Even Lawlers associates had got tired of him. They got sick of him and his crazy behaviour. Sent him and his mates up to Ardoyne, Belfast with guns to collect a "payment"/"debt"...although his mates knew all along the guns were loaded with blanks. He went into a house and never came out alive really. His "car" and "mates" wers gone. The scumbag can rot in hell. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Nothing to do with the troubles.

Grew up around Robbie and a few others . He was always abit mad in the head as the country seen later on in his life. He knew he would go out in a blaze one day . But while he was here he terrorized alot of people and the amount of people who needed to come together to get rid of him just shows how well he protected himself and had lads shook . Ken finn would be the murder that ended his life in my opinion.

@@dd185 id say so. Ken was Mr.Bigs close friend , very unlikely he would have let that slide . From what I remembered The Real IRA were people Ken took out . They lured Robbie in to thinking he was cool with Mr.Big , Got him to go collect that money up the north but really it was all a set up as we all found out.

Yes, indeed it will be 47 years since Captain Nairac vanished in south Armagh...a sultry night when the Bellamy Brothers were beating out their hits and the Army were patrolling the Ardoyne from the nearby Fort Mona up in the Turf Lodge 🛑
Nearby lol turf lodge is west belfast, ardyone is north belfast not west.
Mountainview is classed as west belfast literally across the road from ardoyne shops...as a Belfast taxi driver I would agree 💯 the turf is 10 mins drive through ballygomartin and up the Springfield road.

Keane was no angel and he put the fear of god into people. He killed a woman’s cat because her son owed a drug debt and was well on his way to been just like Robbie so I’ve zero sympathy for any of them.

The CID said two things to me when I was very young. 1, we in the CID don't believe in coincidences and 2, the only people we don't know about have yet to be born. lol The only reason we are allowed phones is because they are tracking devices.

The cops only think they know what is going on and they probably do to a point but nobody really knows what went on or is going on like those involved, they have insight that no one else does. If people weren't off their faces and thinking clearly they might realize that these actions are counterproductive. There's a lot of names and faces floating about, some no longer about, that people would never have heard of had these feuds not erupted. I don't think it's any coincidence that things started getting out of hand as the country became flooded with Columbian marching powder. Kensington Avenue is where it all ends up. People should understand what they are doing to their own country.

Robbie Lawlor’s mistake in life, was believing that his fearsome reputation would make him untouchable. Oh dear! He failed to learn from past history of others who went before him, such as Patrick ‘Paddywhack’ Doyle, who had people afraid, yet pissed off one person too many and was taken out. They never seem to understand the old adage ‘live fast, die young’. Why bother? It’s a mug’s game!! Anyway, Robbie was a father to 3 children who now mourn their loss forever. I bet he never once thought about them or what they might experience through his dangerous lifestyle choice. The irony is that he, brother-in-law Richie Carberry, lay literally side by side together in Dardistown Cemetery, with Paddywhack Doyle and Eamonn Dunne also sleeping in the same place. They never learn in Ireland.
