Hans Zimmer - Interstellar - Main Theme
Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann
Hi, my name is Patrik Pietschmann, I'm a keyboard player, arranger and hobby programmer from Germany. Since I am a huge fan of Hans Zimmer, I did an arrangement of his Main Theme from the "Interstellar" soundtrack. In this video I have tried to combine my live piano playing with the visualization of the music material by programming my own "Synthesia"-like software.
Please subscribe to my channel if you like the video! :-)
You can now STREAM or DOWNLOAD this track on all major music services, such as Spotify, iTunes, Google Play, Apple Music, Amazon, Deezer, Tidal, etc. Here's the link: lnk.to/J1YYkH

Did you know that Hans Zimmer wrote this piece after reading only one page of the script, where Cooper says goodbye to Murph? He didn’t know the genre or the story anything. He just made something incredibly heartfelt about a promise from a father to his daughter, and in that he managed to capture so much more.
After showing this to Christopher Nolan his response was “well I better go make the movie then”
I just recently found this out myself. ….SMH….INCREDIBLE!!!! Or maybe better said….EUREKA!!!!!
It was actually a hypothesized son, not a daughter. Zimmer wrote the original score thinking about his own son. He talks about it in the BTS on the original soundtrack.
In his masterclass series he said nolan said about a son and a daughter connection. Hans thought about his son when he wrote the original melody
I recently came across that story. Just goes to show how monumentally talented Zimmer is. Once in a generational talent.
I will never get tired of saying that Interstellar is a masterpiece

@@mikecash6044Only seen a few movies, eh?
One of the all time greats
I had trouble following what is going on in this song the first couple of times I heard it. But I have since listened to maybe 20 different pianists over the past month and it gets more and more mesmerizing as I try to break it down. If you look at the sheet music, you would think it is easy to play. But just try playing it. Deceivingly complex. Maddeningly so. Basically 3 dominant notes repeating while 3 chords are weaved through and around them in a variety of arpeggios. Great song.

It's 4:58 AM in the morning. Couldn't sleep. So, here's to a stranger talking about her life. Interstellar has been a life changing movie for myself. I remember I watched it when I was 16, on my own in the cinema. I had no friends during my school years to friendly explain how amazing this movie was because they perceived me as a weirdo who want to watch and dedicate 3 hours 'confusing' movie. The soundtrack--First Step by Hans Zimmer, has been one of many things I played on my phone until this very day. When I found this video, I couldn't stop playing this soundtrack on all of my music platforms for, I think, more than a year now since the pandemic started. It's because of this video too that I decided to buy a piano exactly the same as yours a month ago to learn. Not for anyone, but for myself as a goal. I tried to merge my work schedule while learning this piece to always keep going with my life and days that feels like torture with my depression. I am on the 3 out of 7 pages of your music sheet today. There are some spots that are still tough for someone who never touched a piano before, but I am very determined. It's like, whenever I played this video on my earphone or my speaker, my mind is at ease. It's just me, and the infinite time of darkness and space. I played guitar all my teenage years, becoming an adult with this music makes me able to cope with my piano, at least for a while. Thank you. I will let you know when I am done learning this. It should be soon, hopefully.

"Those aren't mountains.....they're waves....." That has to be one of the most spine-tingling lines in sci-fi history.
One of the best movies in all of cinema with one of the best sound tracks ever
I agree it is one of the best spine-tingling lines in sci-fi history right along with "No... I am your father!"
Derek Parent not really

And your surname is Miller! It's perfect.
Great..
I’m learning piano from 3 years and I heard the Interstellar piano version 4 years ago! I am now able to play the main part at 2:28 minutes after 3-4 months of practising this song
Half way on learning this amazing piece
To everyone who wants to learn this, do it. It really seems a lot harder than it is, you will find it hard at first (if you are new to piano) but just practice. at one point you will have it in your muscle memory, then you can start improving it more and more... its really not that hard. Only thing that still holds you back from learning this is you cuz you are lazy.
Hahaha thank you this actually really motivated me
I agree. I'm a novice myself and have only practiced this piece for a little bit yet, but I have analyzed the video and it doesn't look that difficult. The most difficult parts are the arpeggiated chords in both hands in opposite directions which might seem impossible at first, but it's really a matter of practicing a lot. After that the speed becomes the most difficult part, but that also is a matter of practice, as your speed will increase over time.
Im not lazy, I have bills lol
Well and that ai don’t have a piano 😂 All jokes aside tho, I would fucking love to learn this masterpiece
[|||................................. ] 10% loaded 😂
Is anybody else breath taken after every time you here this song.
I’m going to walk down the isle to this song ❤
The chord progression sounds like it never wants to end. There isn't a great way to end it, as It wants to continue forever, just like the universe. I think that is extremely deep and beautiful. Amazing soundtrack.
Wow! I like how you compared that never-ending notes with the Endless universe.... May be Zimmer had that in mind too :)
Blake Zigmond ur comment gave me chills..my mind was comprehending that beautiful metaphor
But the universe isn't endless...
Samuele Petullà and how do you know. How does anyone know 😂
Samuele Petullà "It wants to continue forever, just like the universe" I'm sure what he meant was that the universe is expanding and wants to keep expanding and continuing forever like the music is
-Chris Nolan: We gotta make a movie that is better than Inception. Me: It's not possible! -Chris Nolan: No, it's necessary.
Ohmygod 💕
His brother made it not him.
woudnt say its better than inception but still a great movie
Lol.. No. It's good but Inception is class apart. Maybe movie of the decade so far
Not that hard.
one of the best arrangements out there tbh
Watching this guy reach well over an octave hardly stretching is amazing. His playing is masterful.
